About You
Essential experience and skills would include:
- Planning, delivering, and coordinating projects, activities, or events with multiple stakeholders
- Using Microsoft Office, with strong knowledge of Outlook, Excel, and Forms in particular, and being comfortable learning new systems
- Supporting or coordinating volunteers and/or placement students
- Attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities and administrative tasks
- Building relationships and engaging with community members, volunteers, or service users
- Working with people who may have varying support needs, including mental health challenges
- Responding thoughtfully to, or managing challenging situations and conflict while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Building positive relationships with external partners, communicating with care while representing the needs and values of the organisation
It would also be great if you had...:
- Experience working in the charity, community, or health and social care sector
- Experience in supporting and implementing project reporting, monitoring, or evaluation tools
- Some familiarity with housing, social care, or welfare systems, or experience in supporting people to navigate these
- Experience designing and distributing promotional materials, or using tools such as Canva, MailChimp, etc
- Familiarity or knowledge of adult safeguarding, duty of care, and GDPR principles

The Role

This role works with colleagues across the organisation - but also in partnership with external organisations and agencies, with targets set for engagement (and other indicators of the success of our campaigns). We're working on multiple campaigns simultaneously; whether that's Carers Week, campaigns to influence changes to the law to better support carers, encouraging unpaid carers to join us as members, updating on activities in the devolved nations or getting people to fundraise for Carers UK. And we use a mix of owned, earned and paid communications to drive engagement in a challenging and crowded environment in order to get our messages to cut through. It's a busy, but varied role, in a supportive and collaborative team.
About you
Working within the communications and marketing team, you'll be confident in managing our social media accounts (we have many), ensuring we're using platforms to get our messages out to both wide and targeted audiences with engaging and timely content.
You'll be happy using tools for social listening, interacting with our audiences and building our reach. You'll be familiar with key metrics for social engagement and will be reporting back to colleagues and other stakeholders - and using this data to constantly improve our communications.
You'll be skilled in writing longer form content for our members' magazine, Caring, proof reading articles, posting content on our websites, creating graphics and making sure our content is engaging, audience focused and dynamic. Oh, and you probably know your way around an emoji set and are not scared of a well timed pun. We're a small but effective communications team and pride ourselves on getting stuck in and supporting each other when we need to deliver big on fast moving projects, so you'll need be able to juggle lots of demands while recognising the importance of always hitting deadlines.

Background to the role
Our Head of People is currently on Maternity leave until February 2027. During this period, we are strengthening the People function and are seeking an HR Officer to support the interim Head of People to deliver effective support while we align our staff and volunteering processes; this role will support both areas with a focus on HR.
Our Operations Coordinator carries out staff recruitment, onboarding and offboarding work. The HR Officer may help with this from time to time, but it won’t be a substantive part of the job.
Job Purpose
Support the Head of People to deliver the charity’s HR and Volunteering functions (People) in line with the organisation’s values and EDI objectives.

Salaries are based on our salary bands system. This salary range refers to the lowest and top steps of the grade. Salary will progress every year until the top salary is reached.
Holiday entitlement
25 days (pro-rata for part time) of paid holiday per year plus bank holidays. This increases after two years of service to 27 days, and then a further one day per every year of service up to a maximum of 30 days after five years of service. In addition, all employees are entitled to one day off on (or around) their Birthday.

Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led learning programmes across a number of prisons. To ensure the continuation of our programmes during times of staff absence, we are now seeking to recruit a Prison Facilitator/Library Assistant on a bank working basis to work across the Bristol region (HMP Leyhill, HMP Ashfield, HMP Eastwood Park and HMP Bristol). Working closely with prisons and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will support with the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme in the area, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.
You will have experience working within prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships quickly and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. You will also have a willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice, to provide short or long term cover within the prisons in this area.
This role will be prison-based. This is a bank role and so the number of days to be worked will vary and are not guaranteed. Oasis Youth Support at North Middlesex Hospital is seeking a dedicated Outreach Worker: Violence Against Women and Girls Specialist to accompany young women who attend North Middlesex Hospital A&E department due to a violent or aggressive incident, on their journey to make positive choices with the aim of breaking the cycle of violence through 1:1 mentoring.
You will be part of a large team based at the hospital and supported by the Youth Support Project Coordinator, as well as the wider Community Hub Team based in Ponders End, Enfield.
The key responsibilities within the role are:
· Support young people and develop a bespoke mentoring programme that meets their needs
· Develop and evaluate a model of care that enables young people to benefit from community based interventions
· Planning and delivering sessions focusing around specific areas of violence against women and girls for young people and professionals
· Assisting the team by facilitating high quality information gathering/sharing to track the support given and the success of the project
You could be successful in this role if you:
· Are passionate about making a difference to young people’s lives
· Have the ability to build positive relationships with young people as well as professionals
· have a relevant professional qualification (e.g. JNC, QTS, QSW), or relevant experience
· Have experience of working in a youth/community setting affected by youth crime
· Experience of mentoring / supporting young people
· Are self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative and organise your own time
