About the role

We are seeking a technically capable, qualified accountant with strong knowledge of the Charities SORP to provide effective stewardship and oversight of the Finance function at Kinship. You will be responsible for financial controls, management accounting and ensuring the effective delivery of ‘business as usual’ financial management.

As well as producing monthly management accounts, you will be responsible for running the annual budget and the year-end processes, preparing for the yearly external audit and ensuring that the organisation complies with statutory obligations.

You will prepare papers for and attend the quarterly Finance Committee meetings and will liaise with a range of stakeholders including auditors, the bank and investment managers.  You will be the ‘go to’ business partner at the charity, supported by the Chief Operating Officer and Fractional Chief Financial Officer.

You will manage a team of two colleagues – a Senior Finance Officer and a Payroll Manager – providing them with guidance, coaching and support to enable them to perform effectively. You will also collaborate and work with Directors and senior managers across the organisation to inform them on performance against budget and conditions of funding, as well as supporting fundraising and commissioning bids. 

You will have excellent communication skills and will be able to organise conflicting priorities around the monthly management accounts cycle, while supporting the achievement of our strategic objectives. You will be flexible and adaptable in your approach to supporting transformational change in our processes and systems, as well as dealing with, and leading on, the day-to-day financial management. 

This is a broad and challenging role for a dynamic and systems-driven individual who wants to grow within the organisation, proactively problem solve and help colleagues to deliver on our mission.

Essential requirements include:

• Fully qualified ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
• In-depth understanding of accounting principles, standards and the Charities SORP, and experience of applying these in a service delivery organisation
• Experience managing a Finance function in a charity with £1-10m annual turnover
• Experience of line management and developing a team using approaches that are empowering
• Experience of Business Central, or the ability to quickly learn a new accounting system
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to use Pivot Tables and other functions to analyse large data sets

The Chartered College of Teaching is currently working on a number of exciting projects, and is looking for an EdTech Evidence Lead who will play a key role in the success of these projects. By joining our team as EdTech Evidence Lead, you’ll be helping us to support educators and EdTech companies to strengthen their use of evidence and build understanding around the effectiveness of EdTech products in schools and colleges. 

The role will run until March 2026 in the first instance, with potential for extension.

Salary: circa £40,000 per annum dependent on experience

The Opportunity

The EdTech Evidence Lead will play a key role in delivering one of our key projects, focusing on EdTech Evidence. Drawing on their experience and knowledge of EdTech, they will support EdTech companies and educators to build understanding about gathering and evaluating evidence for different EdTech products. They will develop guidance and materials to facilitate this, and work with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to develop resources, systems and processes that aim to promote and recognise ‘high-quality’ evidence around EdTech. 

Main responsibilities include:

• Developing tools and resources to support individuals and organisations to engage with, and in, gathering and evaluating evidence around EdTech
• Developing guidance and training which helps EdTech companies plan and carry out evidence-gathering activities for their products and prepares them to submit evidence for formal review
• Contributing to the development and delivery of processes and systems for formally reviewing EdTech evidence
• Build relationships with EdTech companies and other key stakeholders to understand their use of evidence relating to EdTech and engage them with the project
• Liaising with a range of stakeholders to promote the use of EdTech evidence and seek input into the design and development of key project deliverables
• Representing the project externally to promote engagement with both the project, and with EdTech evidence generally
• Leading on the delivery of key project deliverables and monitoring progress towards these.

Youth Engagement Officer  

Location: Hybrid. Expected to be in our London office in Victoria at least one day per week. You can be remote every other day or come into the office. Your office days are flexible and can be agreed with your manager, other than for monthly team days where you must be in person. Some nationwide travel expected for Youth Steering Group training days, events and conferences. After passing probation, up to six weeks ‘super remote’ working per year, where you can work anywhere in the world as long as you’re online for four hours of the UK workday.

Holidays: 38 days per year, including our 3-day winter shut down and eight flexible bank holidays.

This role will play a critical part in the success of taking this work forward. As the Youth Engagement Officer, you will work with our Head of Youth Engagement to ensure our Youth Steering Group can lead their own campaign activities, engage directly with decision makers, and collaborate with other young people to bring about the change they want to see. You will also support and manage the logistics of our Youth Summit, Youth Engagement Working Group and other youth engagement events.

Our Youth Steering Group is made up of 25 brilliant young people, aged 14-24, who draw on their lived experience of the different barriers to accessing a fair education, to campaign for change. You will also help the group to participate in FEA decision making, support the design and facilitation of their monthly meetings and training days, help them make progress against their personal development plans. This role will include working directly with young people, session planning and facilitation, policy research and managing logistics.

Ensure the Fair Education Youth Summit is a success and remains truly youth-led  

Our Youth Steering Group design and run the annual Fair Education Youth Summit. The event is led by young people for young people and brings together young changemakers from across our membership and the wider education and youth sectors to develop their youth leadership skills, collaborate on campaigns, and engage directly with decision makers. You will support the young people to design sessions, secure speakers, embed past feedback and plan the event structure. You will also support with the event logistics, guestlist management, participant communications and collecting attendee feedback.

Support our members to improve their youth engagement practice  

Our Youth Engagement Working Group supports FEA members and other sector organsiations to increase and improve their own youth engagement practice. You will support the management of logistics, promote the workshops, and communicate with working group members. You will also support the facilitation of the workshops and ensure the attendee data and feedback is correctly logged and actioned. The critical responsibilities of this role are described above. Interim Assistant Head of Legacy and In Memory Fundraising, a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Legacy and In Memory specialist to join a well-known Social Welfare Charity, based in South-East London.

• Contract Length: 4 - 5 months.
• Hybrid: Ideally 2 days per week, office-based.

Working alongside the Head of Legacy and In Memory Fundraising, as the Assistant Head of Legacy and In Memory Fundraising, your role will focus on driving key fundraising and stewardship activities. Leading on delivering a multi-channel acquisition and retentions legacy marketing programme aimed at increasing the number of In Memory donors and legacy supporters who will leave a future gift in their Will.

You will line manage two staff, play a wider leadership role within the team, and champion legacy giving across the organisation, along with strategic planning and budget management, and ensuring suppliers deliver against SLAs.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Alongside the Head of Legacy and In Memory Fundraising, lead on the overall strategy and budget focused on growing the supporter pipeline, increasing In Memory income, and protecting future Legacy income.

To be considered for this interim Assistant Head of Legacy and In Memory role, you will need to have extensive experience in all aspects of:

• Extensive expertise in all areas of Legacy and In Memory fundraising.
• Experience in project managing multiple campaigns across a range of channels, achieving and improving target revenues, writing copy, managing third-party suppliers, and leveraging support data operating within all regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Experience in successful strategic planning, management, and implementation of strategy, and financial management and budget skills.

The Role

We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Deputy Director to lead our quality assurance work and play a central role in shaping and delivering cross-sector projects.
