About the role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Strategic Communications Manager to join our Communications team. This role will be pivotal in shaping and executing our communication strategies to support our vision and strategy, working closely with the marketing, brand and digital teams to ensure cohesive customer journey and impactful messaging across all channels online and offline. 

Additionally, this role will involve account management of communications deliverables across the organisation and strategic transport outcome areas and building strong close relationships with key stakeholders in the sector as required. 

What you will be doing:

• Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies for a range of different B2B and B2C audiences that profile our work and promote our grant, innovation and research products and services ensuring smooth customer journeys at all touchpoints. 

• Ensure that there is a smooth customer journey for different audiences across identified touchpoints, maximising the impact of our content and CTAs for all audiences. 

• Collaborate with the marketing, brand, digital and press teams to develop our content themes, and create content for various platforms including social media, website, email campaigns, and press releases. 

• Collaborate with the brand and marketing team to deliver online and offline events. 

• Support in delivering brand and communications activities for key partnerships and stakeholders as required. 

• Manage projects in an account management type structure, ensuring timely and effective execution of communication plans and initiatives. 

• Anticipate and manage risks and external factors that could influence the communications message, ensuring proactive and strategic responses. 

• Monitor, analyse and report on communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies, KPIs and make data-driven recommendations for improvement to communications and customer journey. 

• Collaborate with innovation, research, and grant team to set creative, clear strategic communications goals that raise awareness and profile our work in the right way, with the right audiences. This will involve creative brainstorming of tools and tactics as well as gathering examples of best practice from industry. 

About you:

Must haves:

• Extensive experience in strategic communications, with a strong background in marketing, branding, and digital. 
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies for a range of audiences promoting a range of CTAs. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences. 

• Experience of creating a range of content for different platforms, from video and infographic to web pages and social media posts. 

• Experience of managing communications partnerships and or campaigns with third party organisations. 

• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and evidenced experience in ability to record and report effectively on communications projects through systems such as Microsoft Planner. 

• Proficiency in using communication and marketing tools, such as social media platforms, content management systems, and analytics software. 

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders. 

• Proactive approach to delivery – key part of this role will be to ensure that relevant senior communications colleagues are kept informed and consulted on key projects. 

Nice to have:

• Experience of leading or supporting online and offline events. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.

Extra Information 

• The role is based In Harlow, Essex at Motability’s offices, easily commutable from London, 30 minutes from Liverpool Street station or 18 minutes from Tottenham Hale station. 

• Blended working arrangement with three days a week working from home. 

• The job holder may be required to travel around the UK from time to time to attend various exhibitions, events relating to work. This could involve occasionally overnight stays and working outside of normal office hours (including weekends). 

ARUK: Towards A Cure, our strategy to 2033, sets out our path towards a cure. It defines the changes we want to see for people affected by dementia and identifies the unique role we play.

We are currently mid-way through the first 3-year cycle of our 10-year strategy. Reporting to the Head of Programme Management, the newly created role of Strategy Manager will take the lead in managing and evolving our in-year strategic planning and progress reporting frameworks—ensuring they stay dynamic, effective, and aligned with our broader growth ambitions.  They will also ensure that ARUK’s strategy remains forefront of employee’s minds and embedded in teams’ work, building effective relationships with teams across ARUK.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Strategic Reporting

· Manage engagement with Heads of Department, programme leads, and key stakeholders to shape and align in-year milestones across strategic initiatives, ensuring cohesive delivery of organisational priorities.

· Conduct high-level analysis of milestone data to identify strategic opportunities, interdependencies, and key internal and external drivers. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to build support for integrated ways of working and ensure consistent communication across teams.

· Deliver strategic progress reporting at key intervals throughout the year, monitoring progress against milestones. Present key findings and forward-looking recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team and Heads of Department to inform decision-making.

· Develop clear, engaging, and informative reports for internal audiences that effectively communicate progress and priorities, helping to ensure the successful delivery of ARUK’s strategy.

· Proactively identify emerging risks to strategic delivery, assess their implications, and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations to senior stakeholders on mitigating actions and contingency planning.

Supporting the Delivery of Our Organisational Strategy

· Manage the coordination of ARUK’s annual planning and budgeting process in collaboration with the Head of Programme Management and Director of Strategy & Governance. Take day-to-day ownership of the process, ensuring effective communication and engagement across all levels of the organisation.

· Work closely with the Head of Programme Management and key stakeholders to assess and improve organisational structures and ways of working, with a focus on enhancing cross-team collaboration and the effectiveness of strategic working groups.

· Undertake horizon scanning and sector research to identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities relevant to strategy development and delivery.

· Support the development of strategic capability across the organisation by partnering with teams on their planning and strategy work, helping embed structured, forward-looking thinking.

· Collaborate with external consultants and partners to support the delivery of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

· Communicating About Our Organisational Strategy

· Support the Head of Programme Management and Director of Strategy & Governance in engaging employees across the organisation in the delivery of our strategy, helping to create clarity and alignment.

· Work with managers and Heads of Department to build support for updated or new ways of working that enable more effective strategy execution.

· Ensure that strategy-related communications are clear, timely, and relevant—particularly for managers—so they can effectively translate strategic goals into team-level action.

What we are looking for:

· Proven experience in strategy development or strategic planning, preferably within the charity sector.

· Experience of translating strategic thinking into practical plans and actions.

· Strong analytical skills, with both a keen eye for detail and understanding of the broader picture. Able to use data to drive decision-making.

· Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products.

· Experienced in working in a matrix or cross-team environment.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and stakeholder management skills.

· Natural collaborator with an ability to establish and maintain lasting relationships both internally and externally.

· Ability to build relationships, trust and respect at all levels. Effectively communicates with people of all different technical abilities.

Additional Information:

We have established a number of high-profile strategic initiatives to help us advance our work towards a cure. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Research Programme Manager to support the successful ongoing delivery of these major initiatives and collaborate across the organisation and externally to maximise their impact. The primary focus will be managing the Blood Biomarker Challenge, working closely with colleagues at Alzheimer’s Society to ensure the ongoing success of the programme.

This role sits within the Strategic Programmes team in the Research Directorate, an ambitious, supportive and friendly team that funds the best research to transform the lives of people affected by all forms of dementia.  We’re looking for someone with strong programme management experience, a good eye for detail and who is excited by the opportunities in the dementia research landscape.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Lead the delivery of the Blood Biomarker Challenge research programme:

· Oversee project delivery, tracking progress against milestones and KPIs, managing risks and keeping partners updated

· Ensure finances are effectively managed, working with the Research Funding and Finance teams

· Coordinate internal workstream leads to ensure effective communication and collaboration across departments

· Build and maintain strong relationships with partners and stakeholders involved with the programme to maximise its success

· Implement robust and proportionate review processes

· Lead the preparation of papers and briefings for meetings

Support the development and management of new strategic initiatives within the team

· Maintain up to date knowledge of developments in the global dementia research field to support the development of new initiatives

· Implement robust project management skills to support the establishment of new initiatives and their ongoing monitoring

· Work closely with the Research Involvement Manager to integrate best practices in patient involvement and co-production where required

Strengthen relationships within the dementia research community

· Attend meetings and events to build relationships and promote our strategic programmes

· Support the Head of Strategic Programmes in enhancing ARUK’s external profile through active participation in meetings and collaborations with key stakeholders

· Work with the Partnerships Manager to identify opportunities for strategic partnerships that could complement the programmes you manage

What we are looking for:

· First degree (or equivalent) in relevant biomedical science

· Proven experience managing large programmes of work, preferably in the healthcare, research or charity sector

· Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple priorities, overseeing budgets and identifying risks

· Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholder groups and third-party suppliers and build strong, effective and productive relationships

· Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

· Commitment to ARUK’s vision, mission and values

· Good analytical skills demonstrated by a structured and methodical approach

The Role

The Commercial Operations Manager plays a crucial role in driving financial sustainability by generating income and managing commercial activities through venue hire, event planning, merchandise sales and securing strategic long-term partnerships, enhancing existing revenue streams, and identifying new opportunities.

The position will ensure the charity maximises its commercial potential while staying true to its mission and values.

About you

We are looking for someone who has at least 3 years' experience in an income generation role, including venue hire and event management, ideally in a charity setting.

The Philanthropy Manager will join our recently established Philanthropy and Partnerships (P&P) team to help us develop and nurture a range of corporate and philanthropic relationships. We’re looking for an experienced Philanthropy Manager to play a pivotal role in securing significant philanthropic income from high-net-worth individuals and charitable trusts and foundations to support the vital work of our hospitals. Leading a team of three, this role is responsible for cultivating and managing existing high-value philanthropic relationships, expanding our high-value networks and further embedding a culture of philanthropy across our hospitals and charity.

The ideal candidate will have strong understanding and experience in working with high-net-worth individuals to secure 5-6 figure gifts. Communication skills (both verbally and in writing) ideally gained within a fundraising or sales/business development environment. They will be a self-starter with an appetite to make unsolicited approaches to individuals, along with the ability to develop and grow lasting relationships with high-net-worth individuals, charitable trust and foundations.  They will have strong time management skills, a motivation to work towards and achieve targets, and an appreciation of working for the NHS.

NDAS provides support to all victims who have been the subject of domestic abuse/violence, supports them through the criminal justice system and offers relevant advice and assistance, both practical and emotional. 

NDAS empowers victims to make decisions, increase their options, their confidence and safety.  Prevention and awareness raising activities are also delivered across Northumberland and counselling to the children of our service users.

Purpose of the job

 You will be an important member of the Senior Management Team, supporting the CEO to drive income growth. To be successful in this role you will be a strategic thinker who is highly organised, adaptable and flexible, able to inspire campaigns, appeals and experiences to drive income growth across a range of platforms and linking in potential support to the work of NDAS.

 Key Accountabilities

1. You will work with the CEO to maintain and implement the Fundraising Strategy.

3. You are accountable for the management, performance and reporting on all income strands.

4. You will work with the CEO to produce a bi-monthly Funding Overview report and projected Income Generation Plans for consideration by the Finance Sub-Group and to be reported to the Board

Responsibilities:

 1. Planning, implementing and driving forwards the Fundraising Strategy with a focus on expanding the range and size of income sources.

2. Identify new funding streams from Trusts, Statutory agencies and corporates, and submit funding bids.

3. Manage Individual Giving and Legacies

4. With the CEO produce and maintain an Income Generation Plan with a timeline setting deadlines for the submission of funding applications

5. Work with the CEO and Finance Manager to manage the allocation of costs across the budget and to ensure delivery in line with funding requirements.

6. Work with the SMT to manage and monitor all outcomes associated with each funding stream.

7. Produce funding applications with informative narrative content and robust data

8.   Maintain a monitoring schedule and produce reports in line with funder/stakeholder requirements also with informative narrative content and robust data

9.   Maintain regular communication with funders and potential funders to build strong working relationships and increase funding opportunities

10. Support the CEO in developing strategic and operational plans for the organisation

11. Monitor and collate other outcomes and achievements of the organisation.

Job purpose:

The External Affairs Manager will work closely with the Director and provide vital support to NACCOM and its members by: 

• Ensuring the strategic planning, management and alignment of communications, policy, research, campaigns, and advocacy as part of the External Affairs function at NACCOM. 

• Ensuring NACCOM’s external affairs functions feed from and into our network development work and our Community Ambassador / Research programme 

• Growing and safeguarding NACCOM’s brand identity, integrity and strategic positioning across all our external channels, networks and audiences. 

• Line-managing and supporting the Policy and Research Co-ordinator, Community Research Facilitator and part-time Communications Co-ordinator (currently covered by a freelancer) as well as managing any external consultants NACCOM works with across the External Affairs function. 

• Along with the Director, acting as spokesperson for NACCOM.

• Overseeing the spend against budget for External Affairs-related work. 

• Representing NACCOM at key, high-level meetings and coalitions, including with journalists, decision-makers and partners.
