About the role

The Project Accountant will play a key role in strengthening the organisation’s financial management and supporting strategic decision-making. This short-term role will focus on optimising the Business Central finance system, ensuring robust processes are in place, and providing high-quality financial analysis to support bids and strategic projects.

A leading national charity at the forefront of reproductive healthcare is seeking a compassionate and strategic clinical leader to join its Executive Team as Chief Medical Officer. Each year, this organisation supports over 100,000 women and couples across more than 55 clinics, with the vast majority of services funded by the NHS. In addition to abortion care, the charity also provides contraception, STI screening, counselling, vasectomy, and contact centre support to ensure faster access to care.

The Role

The Chief Medical Officer will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, with responsibility for the clinical strategy and medical workforce. They will act as the organisation’s Responsible Officer, overseeing professional standards and revalidation, while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and clinical governance are maintained.

Working in close partnership with the Chief Clinical Officer and Deputy Chief of Nursing, Midwifery and Quality, the postholder will co-lead the development and delivery of clinical strategy, ensuring services are ethical, sustainable, and firmly grounded in person-centred care. They will also provide expert clinical advice to the Board and offer visible leadership across the organisation.

Externally, the Chief Medical Officer will act as an ambassador, engaging with regulators, NHS partners, academic institutions and professional bodies to influence change, build collaboration, and advocate for reproductive rights.

The Person

The organisation is looking for a values-driven leader with strong clinical credibility, operational insight, and a deep commitment to this vital area of healthcare. Candidates will bring:

• Full registration with the GMC and evidence of revalidation

• Completion of Responsible Officer training, or willingness to complete this on appointment

• Significant experience leading senior medical teams within complex healthcare settings

• A strong background in women’s reproductive health, including abortion and contraception

• Deep understanding of clinical governance, patient safety, quality systems and risk management

• Familiarity with the statutory responsibilities of Responsible Officers and experience in professional performance management, revalidation and appraisal

• Demonstrable ability to lead change, improve outcomes and embed evidence-based, person-centred care

• Strategic experience at Board level, with the ability to shape service development and clinical policy

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including confidence in public engagement and external representation

• A collaborative leadership style with a commitment to building an inclusive, high-performing culture

The Veterans’ Foundation’s purpose is to improve the lives of all within the armed forces community who are in need. They do this by raising funds which they award to organisations having a real impact on those currently serving, veterans and their families. Military charities undertaking life-changing work need vital funds to support and sustain their work with beneficiaries.

One of the UK’s fastest-growing military charities, the Veterans’ Foundation was established in 2016 to support serving and former members of the armed forces, operationally qualified seafarers, and their families who are in need. Since its launch, the Foundation has awarded over £30 million in grants to nearly 500 charities and organisations delivering more than 1,000 life-changing projects across the UK. Grants range from a few hundred pounds to £200,000 and support a wide range of needs, including mental health, homelessness, poverty and social isolation. The charity is primarily funded by the Veterans’ Lottery, the UK’s largest single-charity lottery.

We are looking for x1 permanent full time (35 hours per week) and x1 0.5 FTE (17.5 hours per week) FTC (18 months) Grants Assessment Officers to join the Grants Team at the Veterans' Foundation. The Grants Assessment Officer plays a vital role in the assessment of grant requests and will maximise the impact and effectiveness of the Foundation’s funding by ensuring we are supporting projects and activities which are closely aligned to our strategic priorities.

The key focus of the role is the assessment of applications across our existing Grant Programmes, reviewing grant monitoring and providing appropriate levels of support to grant holders during the period of funding.

The post holder will help ensure our grant application processes run efficiently and effectively, carrying out thorough desk and UK-wide field-based assessment of applications made to the foundation.  They will be a key point of contact for external enquiries to the Grants Team.

LOCATION: Home-based (hybrid), ideally based in the Midlands, to provide reach across the UK for assessment/project visits to monitor grant progress.

• Undertake full and thorough assessment of funding requests, carrying out both in person and online meetings and tasks to ensure that detailed recommendations are written-up and presented for consideration within agreed lead times as defined within the schedule of Decision Meetings
• Work closely with the Grants Support Officer, helping to ensure that payments to current grant holders are released on a timely basis and within the context of agreed protocols and procedures
• Carry out monitoring reviews and visits of funded projects based on reporting provided by Grant Holders
• Assist with broader provision of information and guidance at the point of application and through attendance at funding/networking events
• Manage relationships with our Grant holders including working with them to resolve any issues raised during the period of funding
• Maintain relationships with our Grant Holders and stakeholders, to support them in resolving issues raised during the period of funding
• Contribute to the Grant Team’s ongoing efforts to innovate and improve processes which increase access and engagement for applicants and grant holders
• Provide support for Decision Meetings including preparation of Salesforce reports for decision meetings where grant applications are reviewed
• Assist in any other duties required for the efficient running of the Veterans’ Foundation Grants Programme.

• Knowledge of the Veterans’ Foundation, the UK funding landscape and current challenges faced by our grant holders and the wider voluntary sector

Role purpose

RISE strives for a world where people can lead safe, purposeful lives as a result of better relationships within families and communities; where harmful behaviour is marginalised and fewer people are victims of crime. In order to create safe communities, RISE empowers people to break their cycle of harmful behaviour. RISE’s programmes challenge attitudes and facilitate long-lasting behaviour change and are driven by the belief that people can make better decisions, given the right support. RISE are specialists in designing and delivering evidence-based, transformative behaviour change courses within the criminal justice system and wider community.

With the main objectives of reducing re-victimisation and reoffending, and helping to protect the public, the RISE practitioner will deliver a range intervention (individual and group), both in the community and in custody.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide a high-quality service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a service to those at risk;
• Work collaboratively within a multi - agency framework consisting of the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and local partnership responses to domestic abuse;
• Identify and assess the risks and needs of domestic abuse victims using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
• Focus on and prioritise high risk cases and provide a pro-active service through individual safety planning and personal support. 
• Work with victims of domestic abuse at all levels of risk to help them access services to keep them and their children safe.
• Liaise with Social Services and other professional agencies in relation to any child protection/ adult safeguarding risk issues highlighted;
• To ensure that any issues in relation to safeguarding children or vulnerable adults are brought to the immediate attention of the Safeguarding lead (or whoever is relevant).
• Maintain high standards of professionalism and keep abreast of current legislation, best practice and maintain a focus of continuous improvement;
• Work with victims of domestic abuse to help them access services to keep them and their children safe;
• Understand the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to domestic abuse victims, and work collaboratively with these as appropriate;
• Provide advocacy, emotional and practical support, and information to victims in relation to legal options, housing, health and finance;
• To record case work accurately and ensure administration of caseload is always up to date.
• To communicate internally within RISE, with victims and with partner agencies about the risks and needs of victims.
• To attend regular case review meetings with the DA Team Leader and Practitioners to share information around the identified risks.
• Manage a caseload of 60-70 service users ensuring each client receives a timely and appropriate service, individual to their needs;
• Support the empowerment of the client, and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse, and help them regain control of their lives;
• Maintain knowledge of the organisation’s operating environment;
• Demonstrate and maintain a commitment to the organisation’s vision and values, strategic aims and objectives.
• To attend and participate in any and all internal and external training identified as necessary to meet the requirements of the role as identified by Rise Mutual CIC.

Main Duties:

• Establish timely contact with Victim/ Survivors of domestic abuse perpetrators who are referred to attend a DVPP,
• Carry out assessments with the Victim/ Survivors via telephone contact or community visit, using the Safe Lives DASH risk assessment tool;
• Carry out detailed safety planning with Victim/ Survivors;
• Manage risk by being pro-active with Victim/ Survivors, sharing information with other relevant agencies in a timely way.
• Refer and/or signpost Victim/ Survivors to other services/agencies to meet risk/wellbeing needs;
• Ensure Victim/ Survivors can access a place of safety e.g. refuge, if risk escalates to a dangerous/unsafe level;
• Maintain Victim/ Survivors contact and continuously monitor risk by keeping up with all available information while the perpetrator attends the programme;
• Attendance at Social Services Conferences (if appropriate), Risk Meetings and MARAC, advising on any safety planning for any risk issues highlighted;
• Undertake an end of case review, signposting Victim/ Survivors to external agencies for ongoing support where appropriate;
• To maintain up to date Victim/ Survivors records to ensure data is collated for all work completed.
• To offer 100% of Victim/ Survivors to complete service user feedback;

Confidentiality and Information Security

• To adhere to the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts and comply with the terms of RISE’s Privacy, IT and Data protection policies, and that of our partners where relevant
• To comply with security measures in accordance with RISE policies and our partner’s E-mail and Internet use.

Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults

• RISE is committed to keeping children and vulnerable adults safe. Post holders with direct service user contact are responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults s/he is responsible for or comes into contact with. Post holders without direct service user contact have a general responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in the course of their daily duties and for ensuring that they are aware of the specific duties relating to their role.

Other duties:

• Undertake other duties as may be required which are commensurate with the grade and nature of the post.
• Cover for other posts as appropriate, and willingness to be trained in new interventions.

Person specification:

Experience

• Have experience of giving or undertaking advice, advocacy, counselling or casework within a domestic abuse setting;
• Have experience using an evidence based risk identification check list as a tool to aid risk identification and management for Victim/ Survivors of domestic abuse, as well as an understanding of the limitations of such tools.
• Have experience of working with people who have had to deal with difficult emotional incidents or events using a trauma informed approach;
• Possess good organisational skills with the ability to work methodically and accurately whilst meeting deadlines;
• Have experience of liaising with a range of professionals and agencies;
• Have experience of timely preparation of reports on behalf of users; preparing reports and submissions to statutory or professional bodies;
• Experience of case management and record keeping;
• Experience of delivering programmes/training and/or the willingness to be trained;

Skills​

The main purpose of this role is to provide physiotherapy input, as part of a Specialist Multi-disciplinary Team, to patients referred for specialist palliative/end of life care. 

You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of holistic care to patients, their families and carers on the physiotherapy caseload, both in the community and in Hospice settings.  You will support with the delivery of our breathless programme, providing education and exercise to patient groups. You will provide evidence-based physiotherapy interventions to patients following the HCPC clinical standards of care and CSP professional Codes of Conduct. 

What we are looking for:

· An honours degree level or equivalent in physiotherapy, Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC) registration and membership of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

· Significant post-graduate experience across a range of physiotherapy specialities.

· A patient-centred and holistic approach with a passion for palliative care.

· Experience in palliative care or transferable skills suited to this specialist field.

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

· A UK driver’s licence, business insurance cover and access to a car for work purposes is essential to this role.
