Ideally, you’ll have a good understanding and experience of our Peckham community, but if not, you’ll bring a strong understanding of communities who may have a similar profile, with a commitment to get to know the community that Pecan serves.

As a Christian charity, there is a genuine occupational requirement in Pecan’s Articles for the CEO to be a Christian. Part of your role will be to nurture key relationships with local churches, so you’d be comfortable in a church context and to pray with and talk to them about opportunities to support the work of Pecan. What we can offer you:

Job Summary:
Barnardo's Bewick Road Service is excited to offer an opportunity for a qualified social worker to join the Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Centre at James Cook University Hospital, Teesside. This part-time role offers the chance to develop your social work skills within an established and supportive multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The position also includes flexible working options Monday to Friday (working over 3 days), with ongoing support and training provided.

To be considered for this role, candidates should have at least three years' post-qualification experience working with vulnerable children or adults, and be registered with Social Work England (or equivalent). A full UK driving licence is required.

Main Duties:
The CF social worker will provide support to children with Cystic Fibrosis, their families, and carers, focusing on the social aspects of care. The service covers a large geographical area, including Teesside, Redcar and Cleveland, and Durham, with the role based at James Cook University Hospital.

Key responsibilities include:

• Attending outpatient clinic appointments, inpatient ward admissions, and conducting home visits to assess and follow up on community-based needs.
• Supporting the Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis team in addressing the emotional, social, practical, and financial needs of children and families affected by CF.
• Collaborating closely with relevant social services and healthcare professionals, in line with legislation, professional standards, and policies.
• Assisting families with welfare rights, financial matters, housing, education, and the variable impacts of living with CF.
• Helping families secure appropriate disability benefits and ensuring access to necessary support services.

Operating within the Management Accounting team, the postholder will act as a Senior Management Accountant for the business area for which they are made responsible. Working directly with budget holders, Heads of Department and Directors, they will manage all aspects of their management accounting and financial planning services providing incisive, value-add financial support and analysis which facilitates effective decision making.

The role 

With support from our Marketing and Communications Manager and wider team, you will play a vital role by creating, managing and optimising our digital communications, including the development, execution and measurement of email mailshots and campaigns, our social media channels and our website. 

You will be comfortable planning and devising email and social media content ideas, designing creative assets, writing sharp, engaging social media copy, and helping colleagues to grow their own social media presence.

Your experience

• Writing engaging and inspiring copy for various purposes and digital channels, including email as a priority
• Managing and creating content for social media channels
• Proven track record in a digital communications role, with experience of delivering against targets
• Use of CRM systems and spreadsheets to record and monitor impact of communications to meet targets
• Development of effective mail delivery systems
• Management of high-volume data - keeping accurate records and information from different sources 
• Working remotely or in a hybrid environment
• Supporting a team that manages different projects with competing priorities to achieve their communications goals

This is a hybrid role. You will be working from home with IT provided and join Team Together Days in a co-working space in London 2-3 individual days each month. These days are considered commuting days. You do not need to live in London to apply for this role, but you will need to consider what is a reasonable commuting distance for you to able to attend the team days in London.

Do you have experience in health or research policy development and advocacy? Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity are hiring a Head of Policy to develop our first ever policy and advocacy function. As Head of policy, you will be a key spokesperson for the charity and will ensure that we are using our brand and our voice to advocate for the needs of seriously ill children and their families at Great Ormond Street Hospital and beyond.  

Salary

The salary for this position is £72,000 per annum and we operate a hybrid working policy of a minimum of 2 days in the office per week.

Key Responsibilities

This is a varied position where you’ll be responsible for:

Strategic policy leadership 

• Developing and implementing a comprehensive policy agenda, in line with our high level strategy for advocacy. 
• Overseeing the development of position papers, key policy messaging and response to government consultations. 
• Identifying emerging policy trends, analysing potential impacts and developing responses. 

Creating and leading a team

• Recruiting and developing a small team.
• Owning the policy and advocacy budget and work plan. 

Relationship building

• Developing relationships with the Charity’s local partners at the Trust and Institute of Child Health (ICH) to ensure alignment and engagement on key policy & advocacy initiatives.
• Building relationships with key parliamentarians and policy makers. 
• Representing the charity at key political or government events.

• Significant experience in policy development / strategic advocacy within a charitable organization, think tank, or public sector organisation.
• Previous success in shaping and influencing public policy.
• In-depth knowledge of the healthcare, research, paediatric care, or relevant public health policy landscape.
• Exceptional strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to interpret complex policy issues and translate them into clear, actionable strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking, stakeholder management, and the capacity to engage effectively with diverse audiences.

Role Summary
As Business Development Programme Officer, you’ll play a key role in expanding ARTICLE 19’s unrestricted income through creative and strategic fundraising. Working closely with the Business Development Team, you will support the delivery of our Business Expansion Strategy by cultivating relationships with individual donors, corporates, and major funders.
