POSITION SUMMARY

Business Launchpad wishes to hire a highly organised, process-driven individual to oversee operations for its Tooting Works business centre.

As a key member of the Tooting Works team, the Operations Manager oversees the renting of our office units, tenant relations, and building maintenance and management, among other things. The post holder ensures the centre is run to a high standard, including excellent customer service, compliance with all current building and health and safety legislation, a high occupancy level and operation within budget.

The Operations Manager line manages four team members, making up the lettings team and the maintenance team, and works closely with other teams, including marketing, finance and the delivery team for the Business Launchpad charity.

Business Launchpad operates on-site at Tooting Works and is a registered charity which provides support and training for entrepreneurs aged 16-30 years from across London who want to set up their own businesses. 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Centre Operations Management

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business centre, ensuring all facilities are well-maintained and running smoothly, and that the lettings process is compliant and well-managed.
• Implement and monitor operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and service quality, including opportunities to digitise procedures and services.
• Manage building improvement and repair projects in collaboration with the maintenance team and the operations director.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and manage risk assessments.
• Identify, anticipate and address problems and opportunities for the business centre in collaboration with senior management.

Customer Service

• Act as a point of contact for tenants, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
• Foster strong relationships with tenants, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement strategies to attract new tenants and retain existing tenants with the goal of maintaining high occupancy levels.

Financial Management

• Manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effective management of resources and that projects are delivered within budget.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers to secure cost-effective deals.
• Ensure tenant arrears are regularly monitored and managed.

Line Management

• Lead, mentor, and manage the lettings and maintenance teams, ensuring high performance and productivity.
• Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
• Handle recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding of staff members as needed.

Essential Skills / Experience

•  Bachelor’s degree or higher.

1. Background

Chance to Shine is a national children’s charity. We change young people’s lives through cricket giving them the opportunity to play, learn and develop through the sport. We keep them physically active, teach them vital skills like teamwork, communication and leadership. And above all, they have fun.

Since 2005 our Chance to Shine Schools programme has helped reverse the decline of cricket in state schools with millions of boys and girls in over 13,000 state schools playing and learning through cricket. Chance to Shine Street supports young people in under-served communities to access and benefit from cricket in a free, inclusive, fun and fast-paced tape ball environment.

The Fundraising Team is tasked with helping Chance to Shine achieve its ambition. Securing new funding partnerships and the stewardship of existing donors across a range of funding streams: Corporate, Events, Trusts and Foundations, Individual giving, and statutory funding to support the delivery of Chance to Shine programmes.

The Head of Fundraising role will play a key part in leading the Fundraising team to success.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Fundraising team as our programmes are well established with excellent support from key stakeholders, especially ECB and Sport England. 

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and pro-active individual with a strong track record in fundraising to help drive the charity forward. The role does not require an understanding of cricket but does require an enthusiasm towards changing children and young people’s lives. The role is office based at The Kia Oval, London, however we operate flexible working and as such team members currently work from the office on average about 2 days per week. The role of Head of Fundraising will need to be flexible to attend meetings with prospective supporters and stakeholders.

2. Purpose of the role

The Head of Fundraising will report into the Director of Strategy & Fundraising and will lead the Fundraising team to successfully deliver ambitious departmental plans which will form the cornerstone of what the charity is able to achieve.

The Head of Fundraising will work closely with the Director of Strategy & Fundraising to ensure that the Fundraising department’s work is well-aligned to wider organisational strategy. This will include setting ambitious, but realistic targets with clear implementation plans.

The core function of this role will be to lead and support each strand of the fundraising team; Individual Giving, Events, Trusts & Foundations and Corporates whilst being proactive in helping to source new opportunities to enable the team to thrive.

This role will be expected to deliver advice and guidance across all fundraising areas, helping to get the most out of a dynamic and passionate team.

In order to extend and enhance our work, the postholder will work closely other departments, partners and stakeholders.

3. Key Responsibilities

The Head of Fundraising responsibilities include:

• To develop and ambitiously build upon an annual income base of around £2.5m in private fundraising across all areas within the Fundraising team.

• To lead and manage the Fundraising team (currently seven employees) to achieve ambitious targets. With specific line management responsibilities for four team members in the areas of Corporate partnerships, Individual Giving, Trusts & Foundations and Events.

• To pro-actively source and secure new opportunities across all areas of Fundraising

• To support the CEO and Directory of Strategy & Fundraising to establish high-level partnerships, deputising where required.

• To work with the Director of Strategy & Fundraising to continually develop, manage and assess performance against plans within our Fundraising strategy.

• To identify and engage with other charity partners and organisations to find opportunities of mutual benefit to our income and programmes.

• Work with all other departments as necessary to ensure we successfully achieve our aims and ambitions both within Fundraising and the wider team.

Following their sons’ diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Emily Reuben and Alex Johnson founded Duchenne UK in 2012. We are an ambitious, dynamic and impactful charity.

Job Description

This role plays a key part in advancing the fundraising of Duchenne UK to enable more investment into research, advancing treatments and supporting the DMD community.  A core part of this will be building relationships with key supporters, including our incredible Family and Friends Funds, corporate supporters and community of fundraisers.

You will be central to the development and delivery of key events and campaigns throughout the year to achieve ambitious fundraising targets. You will have budget management responsibilities and provide insight into activities to drive improvements and further success in future years.

The role will contribute to overall fundraising growth; ensuring the guiding engagement and fundraising principles are delivered, and that all fundraising delivers an exceptional and remarkable donor experience to which Duchenne UK prides itself.

Fundraising and business development

• Community
  • Key relationship manager for Duchenne UK Family and Friends Funds, engaging them through fundraising, supporting third party events and providing regular project and charity updates
  • Develop and implement the Family Fund and Community Fundraising stewardship strategy

  • Oversee management of regular giving, including working with the Communications team to promote this type of giving. Provide stewardship to Regular Givers, with support from the Fundraising Assistant.
  • Lead the identification and development of new income sources with the support of the Fundraising team to increase donations, improve the profile of Duchenne UK and enhance our reputation within the donor community; including corporate partnerships, fundraising campaigns, third party activity, challenge events, regular giving and legacy

The Head of Programme Management leads a large team to oversee all of CIUK’s active humanitarian and development projects funded by UK donors. The team leads CIUK’s relationships with Country Offices and Regions and develops close partnerships to help us achieve long-term and effective programming across the humanitarian and development arena. The team also builds strong relationships with institutional donors and works with the Business with CARE team to deliver corporate-funded programmes. The Head of Programme Management is responsible for ensuring strong grant management and donor compliance including programme financial management. The team ensures that CARE provides and is recognised by donors for offering excellent value for money and real impact for its programme participants. The team also leads CIUK’s approach to delivering smart development and humanitarian programmes with an increasing focus on equitable partnership approaches.

The Head of Programme Management is a key organisational leadership role and will be part of the CIUK Extended Leadership Team working with other heads of team and the senior leadership team to help run the organisation effectively and deliver the 3-year strategy. CIUK’s restricted income from donors is significant and is CIUK’s largest income stream; as such the Head of PMT has a high level of responsibility for stewardship and effective management of the ongoing programme portfolio. The role-holder also has a crucial role to play in identifying learning from our programmes, including from our new ways of working that promote greater local leadership, and sharing these across CARE and the sector.

About you

You will have excellent understanding of CIUK’s main donor, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), with deep knowledge of how the FCDO operates, how they are structured and contract programmes, as well as their current priorities. You will have the ability to build strong relationships and have demonstrated ability to negotiate complex contracts with donors and influence donor positions. You will have a strong programme management and risk management background that allows you to understand and work across multiple projects and contexts, and manage risk at the portfolio level, dealing effectively with new risks and issues as they emerge.

As a leader of a large team, you will have strong people leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate strategy into action, motivate colleagues and demonstrate to team members how their role links to organisational strategy and objectives.  You will need to have experience of working in donor-funded organisations, understand cost recovery models, and have experience working to deliver large-scale programming in development and/or humanitarian contexts.  A good understanding of the current debates in the sector on local leadership and a commitment to the principles set out in the pledge for change are essential.

About the role

The role covers five main areas of responsibility:

• Representation and relationship management: holding relationships with a set of senior stakeholders including FCDO Senior Responsible Owners, other donor counterparts, CARE Country Directors, Programme Directors and Regional Directors. Negotiating contract terms with donors and troubleshooting delivery issues with country offices. Position CARE’s work to external stakeholders, including personally representing CIUK in external fora.
• Organisational and team leadership, strategy and planning: Set and drive the programme management team’s annual plans and contribution to the organisation’s strategic priorities and annual plan. Be accountable to delivering on team KPIs and organisational KPIs that link to PMT’s work. Play a key role in the leadership of the Programme and Policy department.
• Line management: Directly line manage up to five direct reports. Provide and support strong recruitment, line management, learning and development. Demonstrate a strong personal commitment to CIUK’s equity, diversity and inclusion goals, promote organisational EDI initiatives within the team and work with the team to set team-related EDI objectives. ​
• Financial and compliance management: Provide close and effective management of multi-million pound budgets. Reforecast accurately throughout the year, identifying and working with country offices to rectify implementation issues. Manage risks and issues at portfolio level, raising high and critical risks for attention by senior leadership and board as necessary. Ensure donor compliance is followed.
• Programme quality, monitoring evaluation and learning : Ensure that CIUK closely monitors project implementation, relevance of programme outputs and outcomes and ensures programmes meet relevant technical standards and up to date best practice. Programmes fulfil requirements on programme quality and adhere to do no harm standards, the Core Humanitarian Standard, and ensure that CARE’s safeguarding standards are met throughout the life of the programme. This role will provide expertise and coordination to maximise the fundraising success of colleagues in different teams, while also supporting and/or leading on some cross-organisation major opportunities. We are looking for someone with some experience and knowledge of fundraising, particularly with UK grants and foundations, and someone who’s keen to bring their expertise and skills together with others to achieve success. 

FSC’s team of Safeguarding Advisors bring context-specific knowledge and expertise to ensure our work reflects the specific opportunities and challenges in embedding safeguarding across distinct legal, social and cultural contexts.

UK funders represent a significant proportion of overall FSC membership, and the number of members is likely to grow in the future. In order to meet the needs of UK members, it is essential that the resources and technical support provided by FSC, reflects the specific legal and regulatory requirements across the four home nations.

Reporting to the Technical Director, the Safeguarding Advisor – UK will play a key role in developing and delivering FSC’s strategy in the UK. This role will be a critical part of the Philanthropy & Partnerships Team and presents an exciting opportunity to grow Refugee Council’s established Philanthropy programme. The role will be responsible for delivering and creating bespoke development plans, supported by engaging cultivation and stewardship activities to secure increased funding from existing and new donors. It will also be a key point of contact for key Major Donors and high-profile supporters, patrons and ambassadors.

Production

Role overview:

After two years of coalition-building with partners, we have developed a network of relationships with human rights activists and groups in El Salvador, Colombia, Brazil, Kenya, Indonesia, the Philippines and elsewhere. We are looking for a strong organiser and human rights advocate to continue building this network and help other groups organise to create impact.

We aim to facilitate civil society groups’ engagement with UN and regional human rights bodies, support grassroots-led research projects through small grants, and facilitate collaborations on shared advocacy projects.

This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises the work of the Eastern Africa Human Rights Assistant (EAHRA).

Person specification:

· Degree in law, human rights, public policy, international development or another relevant field.

· Fluency in spoken and written Spanish as well as English.

· A minimum of 4 years of experience in international human rights advocacy or relevant community organising, including at least some experience in building or leading coalitions.

· Experience in designing and implementing effective plans to achieve reforms.

· Familiarity with the social and political landscape of at least one country in Latin America.

· A record of drafting and publishing human rights analyses or advocacy documents.

About Women in Prison

Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities.
