We’re Railway Children, an international charity working to create long-lasting change for street-connected children and young people in the UK, India and Tanzania. Founded in 1996, we’ve dedicated over a quarter of a century to developing outstanding practice and services for vulnerable children and their families. As we embark on our new strategy to 2027, we have ambitious plans to ensure no child is left behind, wherever we work.

About the role

We are looking for a Training & Youth Participation Officer for our UK Safeguarding on Transport Project. This is a Hybrid role with some home working and requires frequent travel and overnight stays across the UK.  

As a Training and Participation Officer you will be responsible for the delivery of face to face and online training to various stakeholders and groups within the transport community ensuring that our partners and colleagues become our ‘eyes and ears’ in responding to and reporting safeguarding and vulnerability concerns. Through engagement with such partners and community members you will be responsible for delivering training and consultancy activities relating to safeguarding and provision of services to vulnerable children, young people and adults.

Being comfortable with public engagement events, leading training and working as part of multi-agency safeguarding action groups isa must as well as being able to engage and support the young people who form part of our Youth Forum and national Youth Participation.

You’ll play a key role in the development of our UK Programme and part of a dynamic team delivering Railway Children’s programme in the UK.

What we’re looking for

You will have a relevant training or teaching qualification with experience of delivering and developing inclusive, engaging & high-quality training.  Alongside this were looking for someone with experience of e-learning platforms and working with awarded bodies, working with a wide range of audiences and collating feedback

An experienced professional who has worked with vulnerable children and young people previously gaining user voices and feedback in a trauma informed way.  

Someone with a good understanding of the issues that affect children and young people and how this can be best incorporated into training – lived experience of accessing services will be welcomed

You will have the ability to be creative, and solution orientated who can create accessible learning materials and use methods that will engage adults whose primary role is not safeguarding
