Fine Cell Work are looking for an exceptionally supportive and non-judgemental individual to act as the first point of contact and underpin all aspects of Fine Cell Work's post-prison programme, Open The Gate (OTG). 

Beyond skills for employment, OTG offers a range of support to prison-leavers, who we refer to as Apprentices. The Engagement Support Officer will be responsible for establishing sustainable referral pathways with external partners, recruiting OTG Apprentices in line with organisational strategy, and preparing individual risk assessments and tailored support plans. They will also be responsible for the development of OTG’s remote support scheme and for supporting volunteer employment mentors alongside the Volunteer and Programmes Manager.

Our purpose

Fine Cell Work is a rehabilitation charity and social enterprise that teaches prisoners and prison-leavers to make beautiful handmade products.  The making and selling of high quality needlework boosts their self-worth, instils self-discipline and fosters hope.  Our aim is for our stitchers to finish their sentences with work skills, money earned and saved, and the self-belief to not re-offend.  We also guide them towards training and support on release.  At the Fine Cell Work Hub in Battersea, we run our Open the Gate programme which provides work experience, formal training and employment to prison-leavers. 

The role

As well as offering person-centred support and helping to shape our post-release programmes, you would be responsible for:

• Presenting and promoting Open the Gate among external partners including HMP resettlement teams, probation services, approved premises and other organisations supporting prison-leavers on their resettlement journey.
• Assisting with the development of risk management plans including information gathering, dissemination, and regular review.
• Providing day to day practical, emotional, and sign-posting support to a caseload of adult Apprentices engaging with Open the Gate and providing ad hoc support to past Apprentices when required.
• Action planning and setting out individual objectives with all Apprentices, supporting them to achieve work-ready outcomes in an agreed period.
• Working with the team to research and liaise with offender support and employment agencies beyond FCW, signposting Apprentices and supporting mentors with appropriate signposting and referrals to partner agencies.
• Working with the wider team at FCW to develop and coordinate a series of employability and creative wellbeing workshops for Apprentices.
• Ensuring timely, accurate, and safe recording of all information and personal data.
• Responding to safeguarding concerns in line with FCW policy and procedure.
• Providing remote support via telephone and online to FCW experienced prison-leavers who do not live in London and the Southeast.
• Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager with delivering the Service User Involvement Strategy and championing service user involvement across the organisation more broadly.
• Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to recruit and deliver training to mentors and other volunteers in roles supporting OTG Apprentices.
• Working with the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to develop and enhance the OTG Mentor Offer including as the first point of contact for Mentors pre- and post- mentoring sessions.

The Role

FareShare has a dynamic fundraising department that has seen incredible growth in support in an incredibly short space of time. We are now looking for a proven Supporter Retention Manager to join us as we embark on our next phase of deepening engagement with current and new supporters.

This newly created role is an integral part of the Fundraising team’s growth plans to become a £40 million income generating team.

Working closely with the Supporter Acquisition Manager, Supporter Experience Manager (Fundraising Operations) and the wider Fundraising team, the post-holder will lead on stewardship campaigns encompassing Warm Appeals, Regular Giving asks, Supporter newsletters and cross-sell campaigns across FareShare’s audiences. Line management of an Individual Giving Officer (or Assistant) may form part of the roles and responsibilities further down the line.

The role offers a fantastic opportunity for a proven Individual Giving professional to help drive innovation in supporter retention and development and make a decisive contribution to a high-performing team.

Main areas of responsibility

1.Plan and deliver the Warm Appeals programme in line with agreed budget targets and annual workplans

• Campaign manage the Cash Appeals programme at all stages, from initial planning through to supplier management and post-campaign analysis
• Develop and implement a rolling programme of Regular Giving Asks.

2.Develop and manage a seamless supporter journey and consistency of messaging from the initial touchpoint through to longer-term giving

• Work with the Supporter Acquisition Manager and the Supporter Experience Manager on planning, delivering and managing a seamless supporter journey and consistency of messaging from the point of acquisition
• Actively monitor Supporter attrition levels and implement measures to mitigate disengagement
• Hold regular catch-ups with the Supporter Acquisition Manager and the Supporter Experience Manager to optimise collaborative working across both teams
• Keep up to date on the latest trends and techniques in Supporter Stewardship and apply learnings as appropriate on retention initiatives.

3.Maximise opportunities for cross-team campaigns

• Collaborate with the wider fundraising team on new and existing income generation opportunities.

4.General duties

Skills & experience:

● You have interest and belief in our mission to improve kids’ health through improving food and food education in schools.

● 3+ years prior experience in a similar role.

● You are organised, methodical, strong on detail, and able to map out deadlines and plan ahead.

● Ideally you’d have some experience of line management, a ‘must’ is a commitment to developing the team.

● You have proven success designing and delivering communications plans and campaigns.

● You have experience successfully pitching stories and/or collaborations to media, journalists and influencers.

The recruitment process

During the last 5 years Cycling UK has experienced significant growth and development as cycling has assumed a greater role within the active travel sector and the post-pandemic recovery. As part of the next phase of implementing a new organisational strategy with a view to further growth, Cycling UK are looking for a finance leader to support in day to day running of our finances as well as driving longer-term transformation and strategic ambitions.

The Role

Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of Strategic Financial Planning & Control is a pivotal position within the Cycling UK team. Working as part of the leadership team within Cycling UK, this is an important role in leading the finance team and working to enhance the organisation’s longer-term strategic vision.

• Line management of the finance team members (4 reports) including supporting the development of all direct reports;
• Leading the preparation and implementation of a multi-year plan and annual budget aligned with our business  planning and programme management processes;
• Lead budget and forecast reviews at appropriate intervals in the financial year to ensure accurate and timely forecasts of income and expenditure;
• Collaborating with the Chief Operating Officer, Senior leadership team and Heads of department to develop and embed a robust finance strategy which supports the delivery of our organisational strategy and aligns with our growth aspirations;
• Develop and maintain an effective system of financial controls that ensure the safeguarding of charity assets and the reliability of the financial statements;
• Lead the preparation and production of the annual report and accounts;
• Oversight for all accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and ledgers;

Your Background:

You will be CCAB qualified or equivalent

Prior experience in the not-for-profit sector is desirable though not essential.

As a Service, we often work with students facing complex and challenging circumstances and who may be in crisis. Students contact the Advice Service for support with a range of personal difficulties such as mental ill health, sexual violence, domestic abuse and financial hardship.

About the role

Do you work in an information, advice, guidance, or a support setting? Are you passionate about welfare rights and supporting students? Do you love developing and coaching people. We’re looking for an Advice Service Manager to lead on the day to day management of our Advice Service and grow and develop our Advisors.

The Students’ Union Advice Service supports a student population of 50000 with case numbers averaging over 3000 per year. We’re here to empower students to exercise their rights and options if they encounter problems during their time at university. We offer one-to-one advice on academic issues, housing, money and student finance issues and student life.

We’re currently going through a service transformation, and we want to lay the foundations for a thriving and sustainable Advice Service, able to meet growing demand and complexity of cases. We’re embedding a new staffing structure, and we’re looking for an Advice Service Manager who can support our staff to transition into the more senior roles available. You’ll lead on staff training and development so that we achieve our transformation plan.

As well as management, you’ll be taking on your own cases. You’ll enjoy this role if you’re interested in the law and getting to grips with regulations and policies and you’re passionate about helping people to understand their rights and challenge poor practice. As Advice Service Manager, you’ll also be using your expertise in this field to coach your team on managing their own caseload and delivering high quality advice. You’ll contribute to building strong relationships with our stakeholders. This role will really suit you enjoy speaking to people and networking. We want someone who can build positive working relationships for access to collaborative working and new opportunities for the Service.

You’ll be joining a supportive team and have access to regular one to ones as well as external restorative supervision. We are looking for someone who has experience of advice giving but you aren’t expected to come with knowledge of all our areas. Training will be given. We’ll want to hear about the knowledge and skills you have from previous roles and how you can bring the skills you’ve developed and apply them to this opportunity.

The senior public affairs and policy manager will help us to understand the key policy issues in health and healthcare and lead our influencing work, developing the RCP’s networks, particularly in parliament and government.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are a unique UK-wide activity that help businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity by making better use of the knowledge, technology and skills within universities, colleges and research organisations.

THE PROJECT 

The University of Essex in partnership with We are the Minories (WATM), an arts charity and gallery in a historic townhouse in Colchester, offers an exciting opportunity to a graduate with the relevant skills and knowledge to develop a data led and long-term strategic plan, to enhance WATM’s growth.

The associate will work with WATM’s managers and University of Essex academic supervisors to ensure WATM's sustainable and prosperous future while keeping their community ethos and values at the heart of their activities. This will be achieved through four key strategies:

1. Developing innovative solutions to evaluate and measure the social impact of WATM’s activities to enhance its success rates in funding applications.
2. Introducing business model innovations to support WATM in improving its income generation, such as through new product/service development (e.g., consultancy) and exploring additional income-generating activities like leveraging its physical space.

Job summary
The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) is a Society of over 1,700 members from 100 countries, who work in, or are interested in tropical medicine and global health.

RSTMH organises and participates in events as a crucial way of showcasing, discussing, and debating key areas of tropical medicine and global health research and practice. Our range of events are wide. We deliver conferences and webinars, social events, research meetings for early career professionals, and high-profile debates and discussions. The Meetings and Events Manager would lead on the delivery of the RSTMH meeting and events strategy. • Overall responsibility for the meetings and events programme meeting its financial and other goals and KPIs under the existing strategy
• Overall responsibility for the delivery of the events with a focus on expanding global reach, supporting careers, and improving the financial position

• Responsible for the income and expenditure budgets and monthly reforecasts for our meetings and events, and ensuring accurate financial record keeping
• Support and train colleagues to run meetings and events online.
• Work with the team to develop all event materials – physical and digital
• Work with CEO and Senior Manager to identify sponsors, develop proposals and negotiate income
• Produce comprehensive event briefings for speakers, team, and Board
• Support and attend events, sometimes out of office hours, in and out of the UK
• Evaluate and report on the success of each event and consider areas of improvement
• Ensure up to date event information is publicised on the website and on other RSTMH channels
• Work with the team at RSTMH to develop and implement a marketing plan for events
• Manage all event enquiries, from external and internal stakeholders
• Liaise with and manage relationships with event stakeholders internally and externally, including suppliers, members, committees, Board, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors
• Work with the Membership Manager to maximise the engagement of event attendees in RSTMH’s work, and conversion of events attendees to be members
• Develop processes to ensure we capture all data from events, through our CRM
• Ensure efficient processes exist for ticket sales, paying expenses and invoices and all other aspects of RSTMH meetings and events.

• Degree level education or relevant proven work experience
• At least 3 years proven track record of managing and delivering in person and online events including selecting and negotiating agreements with suppliers, drawing up cost and income budgets, delivering events and monitoring and evaluating their success
• Strong experience of working with a CRM system
• Experience of running online events, with knowledge of variety of platforms
• Strong project management and organisational skills
• Evidence of working with events committees and managing suppliers to deliver events
• Strong budget management experience including forecasting, and planning
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach and mind-set
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Brilliant time management and task prioritisation skills
• Evidence of working with team, and Board members
• Meticulous attention to detail
