We are seeking a motivated educator who is driven to create social change in society to join our team! The ideal candidate will have an understanding of anti-Muslim hatred and how this affects young people in the UK today. We are looking for someone who is excited to help expand and develop this project even further. As a Project Coordinator, you will be delivering informal educational workshops in secondary schools, working within a vibrant team of experienced educators, as well as managing day to day administration to ensure the smooth running of the project. Moreover, you will have the chance to collaborate with a range of exciting partners including other anti-discrimination organisations and other stakeholders in the field of hate crime.
Stand Up! Education Against Discrimination brings Jewish & Muslim educators into the classroom to facilitate informal conversations with young people. By creating a safe space and through free interactive workshops, students are empowered to learn about and act against racism and discrimination with a specific focus on antisemitism and anti-Muslim hate. Young people are provided with the tools on how to report hate crime, whilst developing their sense of social responsibility to their local communities and British society as a whole.
The programme has reached over 150,000 young people across the country since its inception in 2017 and has received recognition from the Mayor of London, Sir Sadiq Khan, who funds the programme through the Shared Endeavour Fund. Workshops are delivered by expert facilitators who create a safe space for young people to debunk myths and misconceptions about the Muslim and Jewish communities.

The Education Quality Manager role leads and sets the strategic direction for the team providing support and development of academic representation at Arts SU, enabling effective voice and ensuring a better academic experience for students at UAL.

No day is the same for the Education Quality Team, but a drive to support students and enable them to challenge institutional structures is a must for anybody in this role.
JOB PURPOSE
- To lead and set the strategic direction for the team providing support and development of academic representation at Arts SU.
- Develop and lead ambitious plans to evaluate and develop the academic representation system at UAL, building engagement levels, impact, and visibility year on year.
KEY RESPONIBILITIES
Leading a high performing team:
- Provide leadership, strategic direction and day to day operational management of the Education Quality Team; motivating, supporting and developing team members to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles as well as manage performance.
- Develop succession plans and identify training and development requirements within the team.
- Develop a proactive results driven culture within the team, ensuring agreed objectives and targets are delivered, whilst promoting a collaborative approach to working with internal departments.
- Identify the need for, recruit and manage student staff as necessary.
- Be accountable for the quality of outputs of the team.
- Provide support to the student officer team helping and equipping them to be knowledgeable and informed representatives.
- Ensure the whole organization is aware of and understands the work of the Education Quality team.
Strategic Development
- Lead the Academic Representation’s System’s involvement with the University’s quality assurance processes.
- Oversee the development of systems and processes for capturing, tracking, and sharing student feedback, issues and the impact of academic representation.
- Lead the analysis of student feedback to advise and support student representatives to lobby and influence the University’s policies, procedures and practice.
- Lead the promotion of the service within UAL, building relationships with relevant stakeholders and making it easy for staff and students to understand the purpose of the team and its work.
Financial & Resource responsibility
- Manage a substantial Education Quality Team budget, being responsible for resources that are allocated to the department and ensuring these are effectively managed and controlled.
- Review and establish processes, systems and policies and where appropriate standard procedures for activities to maximise efficiency, ensure deadlines are met and to ensure a positive return on investment.
Oversight & development of Academic Representation
- Manage and support Education Quality Coordinators to deliver Arts SU’s academic representation systems bringing support for representatives and innovation around student engagement.
- Provide day-to-day management of our academic representation system, including managing relationships with UAL staff who work on this system in Colleges, Schools and Academic Quality.
- Work to further develop our partnership with the University to establish the Education Quality Team as expert practitioners and a source of good practice on student engagement, representation, and co-production.
- Work in partnership with staff and elected officers to deliver a holistic and high-quality academic representation system, including managing the election, training, year-round engagement and development of academic representatives and other related roles as relevant.
- Work closely with colleagues to support and deliver successful SU elections and awards events.
Policy & Officer support
- Lead the Education Quality Team’s work in providing comprehensive policy support to Arts SU’s Full-time Officers and School Representatives on education issues and developing effective lobbying strategies to influence the policies that impact students’ lives.
- Support engagement in College committees and working groups by maintaining an accurate and up-to-date record of representatives and staff committee responsibilities, accompanying representatives where appropriate and coordinating a system for committee briefing and de-briefing.
- Work with colleagues to deliver high profile campaigns based on evidence and insights.
- Work with the wider team to develop relationships with academic societies, and to develop their ability to support student representation and engagement.
- Provide regular and structured reports or presentations to colleagues to support strategic decision making throughout Arts SU.

Part-funded by a generous donation from Backstage Trust, this is a new and pivotal role designed to transform Theatre Centre's fundraising capacity by strengthening systems, increasing income diversity, and building long-term financial resilience. The postholder will play a key role in helping the organisation capitalise on its artistic impact and case for support, while building momentum towards its 75th anniversary in 2028.
This role will keep us focused on our development strategy and will have support from across the whole company: the Board, Executive and the core TC team. We have been steadily building our foundations and have some good funding relationships in place, committed individual givers, a strong, evidenced case for support, some incredible stats and feedback and above all an inspiring and exciting programme of work to offer for young people, artists and teachers across the country.
Our Development Manager will help us to bring in resources so that we can continue share our high-quality, specialist work as far as we can. We see development as a collaborative effort and we understand the need for the whole team to support development, that effective fundraising needs to be resourced with realistic timelines and expectations.
About the Role
Contract type: Fixed term to March 2028
Hours: 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE) - we're happy to discuss flexible working patterns that work best for you.
Salary: £24,000 per year (based on £30,000 per year pro rata)
Location: This role can be hybrid or predominantly home based, with some time spent working with colleagues in the office. Theatre Centre is based near Three Bridges station at Unit 4 Crawley Business Centre, Stevenson Way, Crawley, RH10 1TN.

Job Responsibilities
The Development Manager will lead delivery of a phased fundraising strategy:
Phase 1 - Foundation: Build on our strong systems and processes and give us consistency in fundraising delivery, including building a robust pipeline of Trusts & Foundations and developing place-based income in Crawley and the Gatwick area.
Phase 2 - Private Phase: Expand individual giving by deepening relationships, developing major donors, and securing multi-year funding partnerships.
Phase 3 - Public Bring together all strategic and fundraising priorities in our 75th year, amplifying them into a public campaign that advocates for our change-making work.
