About You

Our Location

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home, you will be required to attend the Hatfield office once a week and monthly directorate meetings. CHIRP is seeking a dynamic and talented individual to support the maritime and aviation programme teams with administrative and technical functions. The role combines general administrative duties with data collection, analysis and presentation.  The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting CHIRP’s work to enhance aviation and maritime safety through effective reporting, analysis, and dissemination of key safety insights. This is a flexible role that welcomes wide ranging and diverse experience and skills and can be adapted around personal responsibilities or requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Provide general administrative support to the programme teams. This includes:

· in-box monitoring, meeting preparation and internal coordination (25%).

Reporting Line

The Administrative Assistant will be line-managed by the Director Maritime and matrix managed by the Cabin Crew Programme Manager for specific programme tasks.

About the Charity

Established in 1982, CHIRP has been a long-standing presence in both Aviation and Maritime safety spheres. More recently, CHIRP has aspired to capture the synergies between the two programmes. This is an exciting time to join the charity to build on these collaborations and develop our new strategy adapting to change in the industries and reaching a wider audience to strengthen human factors safety underpinned by a Just culture.

CHIRP’s mission is to help improve aviation and maritime safety and build a Just Culture by managing an independent and influential programme for the confidential reporting of human factors safety issues. We do this by:

• Receiving and considering reports that might not otherwise be submitted through formal reporting processes.

• Analysing the data to identify issues and trends.

• Disseminating safety-related reports and trends that we consider will be of public benefit.

CHIRP is a membership organisation with a Board of up to 12 Trustees and an Executive team of paid staff and consultants.  The programme teams are supported by Advisory Boards comprising subject matter volunteer specialists who provide advice on issues raised through the confidential reporting process.

Contract length

This contract is a fixed term position until 31 March 2026. During this time, CHIRP will review personnel requirements to deliver a new strategy alongside funding availability. The future of this role will be considered in this process with the postholder fully engaged in this review.

Job Purpose

As Director of Partnerships, you will:

•  Lead on partnerships fundraising, including major donors, trusts & foundations, and corporates with a focus on securing six-figure multi-year agreements to significantly grow funds raised in this area from £1.6 million to £4.5 million by FY30, in line with Operation Smile UK’s multi-year strategy.
• Foster and facilitate collaboration across different departments within OSUK.

• Represent OSUK at a leadership level, building relationships with industry peers and peers within the Operation Smile global team to ensure best practice across all areas.

Key Responsibilities

Philanthropy Leadership

• Leads strategy, planning and operation of the major gift, trusts & foundations and corporate giving channels.
• Develops annual business plans and budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director (ED) and Executive Team.  
• Strategically identifies and qualifies potential new donors to grow the prospect pipeline.
• Prepares development communications: solicitation and acknowledgement letters; case statements and proposals; stewardship reports; briefing notes; gift agreements.
• Identifies, cultivates, and solicits major gift commitments from high-net-worth individuals
• Monitors activity of the team, ensuring that benchmarks are achieved, including submission of solicitations, donor contacts and meetings, confirmations of donations, and other performance indicators as related to the team checking their portfolio.
• Provides the organisation with the interpretation of market trends and emerging issues that could impact the organisation’s partnerships fundraising stream.

• Works to broaden sources of revenue, including working with corporate partners in various industries.

About the role

Our moderators manage Facebook groups of up to 18,000 virtual challenge participants. You will be working with some of the biggest names in the sector, supporting them to raise five and six figure sums. 

This role is perfect for skilled fundraisers who can provide excellent supporter care, and is best suited as an additional source of income (the majority of our team are freelancers and consultants). You must be able to begin moderation at 9am (or earlier), wrap up by 9pm and adhere to our sub-three hour response time. 

As a Fundraising Group Moderator, you would be responsible for:

• Becoming the voice of the cause you are representing, adhering to their brand guidelines at all times

• Identifying, escalating and signposting any safeguarding issues

• Managing your own time and work on own initiative

• Responding to all post and queries in under three hours

• Maximising registration conversions and fundraiser activation 

• Providing fundraising support to challenge participants

Our moderation takes place between 9am and 9pm, Monday-Sunday. Different challenges have different requirements and whilst you need to be on hand to monitor the group during 9am-9pm, the role does allow for a great deal of personal flexibility.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' professional fundraising experience. They will understand the importance of stewarding relationships and be committed to always acting in the best possible way for the charities we work so hard to support.

Merton Winter Night Shelter provides a much-needed emergency shelter for the homeless during the coldest winter months. We offer a warm, safe and respectful place, with a welcoming environment, providing hot food and professional support to those who would otherwise be on street. We offer an opportunity for guests to rest, recharge and be supported into a more sustainable and stable lifestyle. 

We are seeking a part time Project Assistant to work with the Project Coordinator, who leads the project on a permanent basis. Min 6hrs over 3 evenings per week and occasional management meetings outside of the shelter. This would be initially shadowing the Project Coordinator at the different shelter venues and then independently and unsupervised attending venues supporting venue convenors and their volunteers. The hours will include weekends and bank holidays.

Purpose of Job:

· Supporting the Project Coordinator in managing and coordinating the Night Shelter to ensure that all venues give a consistent service to all homeless persons accepted into the shelter, i.e., its guests.

· Standing in for the Project Coordinator in supporting shelter convenors and their volunteers on two evenings per week after initial induction.

· Assisting the Project Coordinator in providing advice and support to help each guest work through the challenges they are facing, recognising that homelessness is often a result of complex and multiple problems.

Responsibilities:

In close consultation with the Project Coordinator to:

· Liaise with the Host Venue Co-ordinators to ensure timely communication and information, particularly in maintaining the Shelter Log Book, to enable the smooth running of the shelter.

· Support guests who are using services for welfare, legal, debt, housing and other specialist issues, where necessary.

· Engage with vulnerable people in a sensitive, empathetic and professional manner.

· To assist in maintaining detailed case records ensuring all sensitive data is adequately protected and handled.

As People Assistant, you will be supporting an established People and Culture (P&C) team to deliver an efficient and accurate P&C administration service across the Academy, ensuring that all P&C records are maintained properly. Our advice service provides over 2,000 kinship carers a year with easy access to expert advice and support to empower them to:

We’re developing our advice service and investing in our team to make sure that we can support more kinship carers effectively. You’ll be part of a supportive team who keep kinship carers at the heart of their service.

The role of Advice Worker is pivotal in supporting kinship carers to access the right information, services and entitlements.

In this role, you’ll provide generalist advice and information to kinship carers in line with kinship carers’ preferred methods. Often, this will be by telephone, including taking live calls on our advice line, and by email. You will also need to respond to enquiries using video conferencing, text and other channels as we develop the service.

The type of person we’re looking for:

You will either have significant experience of providing advice to individuals on their rights, or you will have significant experience of providing support to kinship carers.

We will provide the training you need to undertake the role, as well as opportunities for development and progression.

You will need to be resilient and able to remain calm in difficult situations. You will have an eye for detail to identify the key issues requiring advice and the relevant legislation, guidance or practice. You will be firm, sensitive and professional in your approach and will be clear and assertive as you support kinship carers to get their needs met quickly and effectively.

The team work remotely, but there is the option to work from our office in London.

Key responsibilities include:  

Advice provision:

· Respond to enquiries through a range of incoming channels. This includes taking calls on our advice line, as well as responding to enquiries submitted through our website, via internal referral or other channels.

· Provide high quality advice and information to kinship carers on their rights, entitlements and responsibilities in relation to: welfare benefits, local authority allowances, support from children’s services, kinship care arrangements and options, housing, sources of educational, parenting and legal support and other issues that may be required.

· Address all safeguarding concerns in line with policy.

· Make referrals and signpost to other services as necessary.

· Where appropriate, provide additional advice or support to enable the client to take action or undertake follow-up action on behalf of the client to move the case on.

· Facilitate access to our advice service for people with diverse needs.

Service quality, consistency and data management:

· Respond to all enquiries in line with Kinship’s advice service framework, standards and performance targets.

· Ensure independence, impartiality and confidentiality when dealing with kinship carers.

Professional and service development:

About the Service

We have three refuges in Haringey and provide emergency accommodation to women and children fleeing domestic abuse and sexual violence.  We are there for women at a time of crisis and help families take their first steps to freedom and recovery.

About the Role

Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where no day is the same This role requires using your initiative and proactive attitude than reactive.

You will also be working with women who are in trauma and can be in crisis requiring you to be empathetic but aspirational. You will provide advice and support to women who have experienced domestic abuse in a refuge setting, across the three sites.  You will carry out risk and needs assessments, develop support plans and carry out key work with women survivors. You will be expected to work in one of the three Refuges as part of your role

Job role tasks include:

• Support – Induction, Risk Assessments, Domestic Abuse, Mental Health, Benefits, Debt Advice, Move On, maintain accurate recording on Solace case management system and ensure regular reviews are carried out.
• Frontline delivery of support directly to service users.
• Repairs Identification/reporting/meeting contractors.
• Health & Safety – Basic observational H&S assessments and ensuring building compliance, flag risks in properties.
• Void inspections, basic void works – i.e. clean/clear, furniture, welcome packs. 
• Service Users Arrears & HB Claims and benefits - Identify arrears of concern & raise to Service Manager.
• Helping service users understand housing benefits/welfare benefits that are available to them. 
• Initial Safeguarding Reports.
• Deliver Clear Outcomes – contractual deliverables or Solace standards.
• Multi agency working involved with Service Users.
• Support service user to access other community services.
• ED&I Awareness-needs for SU’s including organising EDI activities.
• Promoting SU involvement activities.

About You

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and their children, as well as experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic and sexual violence.  An in depth understanding of the needs of women and children from a diverse background is essential. 

You will have experience of managing risk and following case management procedures to meet the needs of the client group, with the ability to work with women to help them to understand their needs, risk assess, develop safety plan and support them in linking with other agencies.

You should have an understanding of the homelessness process, either professionally or personally. You will also have a working knowledge of the available legal remedies, housing and welfare benefits, as well as experience of providing workshops.

Outside of this, you will have excellent administrative and time management skills and the ability to effectively manage a caseload.

As a Project Worker Complex Needs in our ELMS Service, you will have the rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals living with paranoid schizophrenia and other complex needs. Your role will be diverse and impactful, working directly with residents to provide essential support through key working, daily shift delivery, and client recording. You’ll also liaise with mental health professionals, helping coordinate appointments and advocating for residents when needed, ensuring they receive the care and attention they deserve.

You will support clients through structured key working and carry out comprehensive assessments, including risk assessments and goal setting, all while promoting Single Homeless Project’s values and practices. By implementing holistic support strategies, you will empower residents to manage their diagnosis and address their emotional, practical, and housing management needs. The role also includes supporting clients through engaging social activities such as a lunch club, bowling, and an allotment group, creating opportunities for connection and growth. As you guide residents on their journey toward independent living, your work will be pivotal in helping them build the skills and confidence needed to lead fulfilling, healthy lives.

The rota runs over Mon-Sun and some weekends are required. You will also be required to do light household chores and travel between the houses on the project.

Purpose of the Job

The role is a key part of the HFEH Mind team delivering mental health services across Hammersmith & Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow.

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, supporting, and retaining volunteers across the charity. You will ensure that volunteers have a positive experience, receive appropriate training and guidance, and feel valued for the time and skills they give. You will also work closely with staff to match volunteers to roles.

We currently offer three types of volunteering roles at HFEH Mind:

• Client facing support– Working alongside staff supporting service users
• Events – Supporting outreach & fundraising efforts and promoting our work
• Central Support – Blogging, graphic design, administration, etc.

General/Key Responsibilities

• Interview, recruit, onboard, and induct new volunteers in line with organisational needs, maintaining around 50-60 volunteers across the charity.
• Work with staff to identify new volunteering opportunities and develop volunteer role descriptions.
• Work effectively to ensure volunteers feel a part of HFEH Mind and gain value from their time with us.
• Develop and maintain volunteer policies, role descriptions, and procedures.
• Ensure all volunteering activity adheres to safeguarding, GDPR and health and safety policies.
• Promote volunteering opportunities through social media, local networks, and community partnerships
• Develop and deliver engaging volunteer training, support sessions and recognition initiatives.
• Be the main point of contact to support volunteers, listen to suggestions and/or concerns and support in resolve any volunteering related issues or complaints.
• Provide advice and guidance to volunteers about their matched relationship (with support from the wider team) and highlight safeguarding concerns as appropriate.
• Ensure each volunteer is assigned a named supervisor and receives appropriate supervision (at least every 4–6 weeks depending on role)

Volunteering Experience

• Ensure volunteers are receiving regular supervision and support during their placement.
• Monitor volunteer satisfaction, provide ongoing recognition and celebrate volunteer contributions
• Regularly report on the volunteer experience, including both quantitative and qualitative feedback & exit interviews

Administrative

• Maintain an up-to-date volunteer database and contact list.
• Support Director of Adult Services to provide reflective practice sessions for service-facing volunteers. 
• Ensure volunteer training compliance is at required levels.

Other Responsibilities

• Join monthly volunteer meeting with Operational Directors, Head of Marketing & Communications and Head of HR.
• Ensure that  equity and inclusion are at the heart of our volunteering programme  and share in our commitment to equality of opportunity and to eliminating discrimination.
• Contribute to our fundraising effort by embracing opportunities to fundraise yourself, to promote fundraising and to support the fundraising team.
• Share our commitment to safeguarding adults and children at risk of harm, and ensure that volunteers are trained in and adhere to safe practice.
• Ensure that information is obtained, used and stored in accordance with our Data Protection and Confidentiality policy.
• Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the role.

Person specification

Essential

• Experience of working with or coordinating volunteers, ideally in a charity.
• An understanding of and commitment to improving the mental health of our communities, and ability to ensure that volunteers with lived experience of mental health problems are included and supported.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with people with from diverse communities with a range of life experiences, views and reasons for volunteering
• Ability to support, organise, and motivate people, and ensure that volunteers feel like they belong within the organisation
• Good IT and administration skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, databases)
• Commitment to equality, inclusion and the values of the charity sector.
• Understanding of safeguarding, GDPR and confidentiality.

• Ability and willingness to travel to HFEH Mind sites.
