What will I be doing?

What are you looking for?

The Henry Jackson Society (HJS) is the UK’s boldest think tank and policy-shaping force, constantly ahead of the curve on the big issues of international and domestic importance. We are currently looking for a Director of Research to help lead us permanently on the next stage of our organisational journey, which has already taken us to the status of a household name in the international political and media constellation.
When HJS was founded back in 2005, the global environment was very different to what it has become today. What We Are Looking For

Main Duties

As Policy Manager you will lead Scope’s policy work on tackling the extra costs of disability and reducing the Disability Employment Gap. You will provide strategic policy leadership, offering expert advice and insight. As the manager for our policy work, you will represent Scope externally and build influential relationships to drive lasting change.

About you
You will:
- Have experience in securing policy change.
- Have detailed knowledge and understanding of how Whitehall works, and you’ll know how to create change.
- Ideally, have experience of working in a large organisation, and you will understand the need for a collaborative approach that works for different audiences.
- Have strong line management experience.
- Be passionate about disability equality and understand the challenges disabled people face. Experience of working with people from marginalised backgrounds would be another advantage.

Who are we looking for?
Ideal candidates will need to be a qualified solicitor within the UK with broad commercial and contractual law experience. This is a general in-house legal role. If you have experience in property law and commercial leases, that would be a bonus however this is not essential for the role, we are open to newly qualified candidates who can demonstrate aptitude and generalist experience . A good understanding of HR is required although skills in this area can be developed. We are seeking candidates who are collegiate in their approach with excellent stakeholder management skills. You will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and be a trusted subject matter expert who can help guide the organisation in its activities. Our client is an award-winning talent development organisation, creative producer, learning and training provider, charity and consultancy specialising in jazz. They are now looking to recruit a dynamic Learning, Outreach and Engagement Manager to oversee their music education and engagement programmes, on a full-time, permanent basis.
The Learning, Outreach and Engagement Manager will oversee a small team (made up of part-time operational staff, music leaders and volunteers) that is responsible for the delivery of a Learn and Train programme, performance programme, and for the development of outreach activities within schools, Music Education Hubs and other partners in the UK and internationally. The LO&E will be responsible for driving the engagement work of the organisation, focusing on enhancing and increasing the involvement of key stakeholders. The LO&E will also act as faculty lead on inclusion, child protection/safeguarding policies and procedures, and will advocate for the organisation in respect of all music education and engagement programmes.

You will have knowledge and appreciation of diversity issues, approaches and good practice, and will have demonstrable managerial experience.
