Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the HR Manager – a new post - will be the principal HR point of contact and lead on the full breadth of day-to-day HR matters. They will make a pivotal key contribution to our aim to be an employer of choice, and overall to be an inclusive and positive place to work. Key responsibilities include:

Employee relations – Ensure that all of our employment documents such as contracts, policies, procedures, staff briefings and our staff handbook are kept up to date, reflect best practice and UK employment law, and that they are being applied across the organisation. Providing as appropriate, related information and support to managers and employees.  

Line manager support – Develop, and maintain, a handbook for line managers, supplemented with periodic guidance; review and meet learning and development needs to ensure line managers are well-supported and able to perform their roles effectively.

HR systems and processes – Manage the collection and recording of relevant information across a breadth of employment matters including attendance, recruitment processes, equality and diversity, performance management etc. Undertake research and analysis and support the Director of Finance in the preparation of their reports on employment matters.

Recruitment – Develop and support Hand in Hand’s recruitment, executing onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring these align with our aims and maximise our potential to recruit and retain a great team.

Change management - Support the implementation of a digital HR platform as part of a wider organisational systems upgrade project, led by the Digital Systems Manager, together with any future change projects that will enhance our HR services and the support we are able to provide to our managers and employees.

Pay and benefits – Carry out periodic benchmarks and reviews of employee pay and benefits, focussing on the sector we operate in.

Staff surveys – Carry out our annual staff survey, together with any additional temperature checks as required, presenting the findings and recommendations to the senior management team. Manage the implementation of any agreed changes and improvements to our employment arrangements following the surveys.

Projects and general support – Undertake HR projects as required and provide HR support to employees and line managers in the event of any queries as they arise. Additionally, take a proactive approach in providing guidance and suggestions for improvements, simplification and change as and when appropriate.

Skills and knowledge

· CIPD qualification level 5, or above

· A full understanding of UK employment law, HR functions and best practices

· Experience supporting small organisations (<50 employees) with establishing, and implementing, policies and procedures

HAGA is seeking a compassionate and motivated Hospital Liaison Team Leader to join their dedicated team. Primarily based at North Middlesex University Hospital, the role will also involve occasional travel to other hospitals within their localities to ensure consistent support for clients wherever they may present. The position is co-located between hospital settings and their Seven Sisters Road office, promoting strong integration and continuity of care.

You’ll manage a small, committed team and take responsibility for maintaining effective communication pathways between hospital staff and the service. Prospectus is delighted to be supporting our client in their search for a Head of Finance and Operations who will lead a small dynamic team and strengthen financial and operational functions during a pivotal time of growth for the organisation.

This is a full-time, one-year fixed-term contract based in London (Hybrid). The post is renewable funding dependent. The salary for this role is £65,000 per annum.

The organisation's mission is to support global efforts to eradicate conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) and strengthen national and international responses to it through research and action on CRSV against men and boys. Working with victims/survivors and in partnership with national and international actors on the ground, the charity undertakes long-term, in-depth work in selected conflict-affected countries, currently Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, Colombia, and Ukraine.

In this role you will report to the Executive Director and lead a hands on, driven small team. You will play a key role contributing both strategically and operationally.

You will take ownership of all aspects of financial management. This includes, financial planning and reporting, preparing management accounts, audits, bookkeeping, budget management, grant reporting, maintenance of financial systems and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

In terms of operational management, you will work with the Executive Director and support with HR, IT and Digital Security, Risk, Security and Compliance functions.

To be successful in this role, you will have a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA and other alternatives) or qualified by demonstrable experience. You will have experience working in NGO’s or organisations being funded primarily through grant funding.

You will have experience in financial reporting, budget management, audit preparation, grant reporting and presenting financial information to stakeholders. You will have a strong analytical mindset. You will be an excellent communicator who has experience liaising with a range of different stakeholders.

You will have experience/strong interest in at least one of the following areas: Human Resources, IT, Risk Management, Compliance, and a willingness to develop your knowledge of these areas.

Desirably, you will have experience dealing with USAID, EU, UN, and other bi-lateral and multi-lateral funding. You will also have experience managing digital tools/software’s and asset registers.

Salary: Grade 4 - £34,085 per annum

Full time: 37.5 hours per week

Do you have a good understanding of housing law and proven experience of preparing, planning and delivering training courses to individuals and groups, online and face to face? We are looking for a Trainer and you could soon be helping us to help better support professionals and their clients with housing problems.

About the Role

You will deliver training to a variety of external customers, focussing on housing and homelessness. The overall aim will be to support capacity and capability of the housing and homelessness sector to achieve better outcomes. You will need to keep your knowledge up to date and contribute the insights you gain from training delivery and observing our front-line services to develop existing and new courses, ensuring excellent quality and positive feedback. Also, you will participate in consultancy and mystery shopping as needed.

About you

To succeed, you will need experience of delivering and developing training courses which are engaging and interactive, along with a strong understanding of housing and homelessness law. You will also have a sound knowledge of IT tools such as webinar and e-learning platform and Microsoft applications.  The role will involve travel to deliver training as needed.

You will be joining a multi-disciplinary team that delivers a range of second tier services to support those on the frontline to achieve positive outcomes for people with housing problems. These include training in housing and homeless prevention, housing law consultancy advice, housing debt casework, information and online resources and various targeted projects. We are a national team and work in conjunction with the wider organisation including Legal Services, Learning and Development, Business Support, Telephone and Online services and Operations teams.

In this new and pivotal role, you will lead efforts to grow awareness, engagement, and income generation through a vibrant network of volunteer-led branches across  London and the South West region. Purpose of the job

 We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Manager to lead and deliver strategic communications across all key external audiences. This role is central to driving awareness of the impact of UK Youth’s work, amplifying the voice of young people, and advocating for urgent action to support youth work and organisations across the UK. It is a demanding role, requiring close collaboration with the Head of Brand, Communications & Marketing, CEO, and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to enhance visibility and engagement at the highest levels. 

Key responsibilities

 Strategic Communications & Messaging:

• Develop and execute UK Youth’s external communications strategy to increase awareness, engagement, and advocacy. 

• Craft compelling messaging that effectively communicates the impact of our work, the challenges facing young people, and the importance of youth work. 

• Ensure consistency of messaging across all communication channels and materials. 

 Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

• Support the Head of Brand, Communications & Marketing in delivering high-profile campaigns and media strategies. 

• Partner with the CEO and SLT to enhance their visibility, providing strategic communications support, speechwriting, and media briefings. 

• Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including policymakers, funders, and media contacts. 

 Media & Public Relations:

• Lead on media engagement, securing press coverage that highlights UK Youth’s impact and advocacy efforts. 

• Draft press releases, opinion pieces, and statements that position UK Youth as a leading voice in the youth sector. 

• Manage reactive and crisis communications, ensuring UK Youth’s reputation is protected and strengthened. 

 Campaigns & Content Development:

• Develop and oversee the production of high-impact content, including reports, blogs, speeches, and social media materials. 

• Lead on storytelling initiatives that amplify young people’s voices and highlight the real-world impact of UK Youth’s work. 

• Work collaboratively with the marketing team to align messaging across digital and traditional channels. 

 Advocacy & Influence

• Ensure UK Youth’s communications support and enhance policy and advocacy work. 

• Develop materials that translate complex policy issues into compelling, accessible messages. 

• Support campaigns that mobilise public and stakeholder support for greater investment in youth work. 

Experience

• Proven track record in strategic communications, public relations, or media engagement, preferably within the charity, public, or advocacy sectors.

• Experience managing high-profile campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and action.

• Strong background in stakeholder engagement, including working with policymakers, funders, media, and senior leadership teams.

• Experience developing and delivering crisis communication strategies.

• Knowledge of the youth sector, social justice issues, or non-profit communications is highly desirable.
