What we offer and what we ask of you

As an associate, you will be involved in the delivery of aspects of the Board Development programme including our NHS quality for NEDs module. You will work with, and collaborate with, a group of talented fellow associates with a varied range of skills and capabilities, as well as board experience, NHS experience, coaching, mentoring and facilitation skills. Your responsibilities will include delivering dynamic training sessions using pre-prepared materials; delivery could be online or face to face. We will support you by offering you commissioned pieces of work on a daily rate, either to help scope and deliver bespoke board development work with NHS trusts and other system partners, or to help us deliver our open courses, where we will be proactive in confirming the agenda and briefing you on content. We ask all of our associates to sign an associate contract which means we can approach you with offers of work over the course of the year. Description of the associate role

We are looking for clinical governance specialists to join our associate pool. We are looking for individuals with a mixture of experience including:

• Significant experience of working at board level
• Experience of acting as a Medical or Nursing director or deputy level clinician with lead experience of NHS clinical governance
• Ability to translate theory into practical insights
• Proactive approach to building and maintaining effective client relationships, including excellent levels of communication
• Strong organisational skills
• Adaptability and flexibility to deliver training in various formats

The Role

What we offer and what we ask of you

As an associate, you will be involved in the delivery of aspects of the Board Development programme including our aspiring directors programme and effective challenge module. You will work with, and collaborate with, a group of talented fellow associates with a varied range of skills and capabilities, as well as board experience, NHS experience, coaching, mentoring and facilitation skills. Your responsibilities will include delivering dynamic training sessions using pre-prepared materials; delivery could be online or face to face. On occasion you will also be required to utilise your skills and experience to support the development and maintenance of new and existing training session materials. This role requires a passionate individual with a strong background in HR and OD and a proven track record of facilitating engaging and impactful training sessions.

We will support you by offering you commissioned pieces of work on a daily rate, either to help scope and deliver bespoke board development work with NHS trusts and other system partners, or to help us deliver our open courses, where we will be proactive in confirming the agenda and briefing you on content. We ask all of our associates to sign an associate contract which means we can approach you with offers of work over the course of the year. We will ensure you have sufficient information about the trusts, and other clients, that you will be working with. When appropriate, we will provide you with training opportunities to support your facilitation of training sessions.

Specialist Child to Parent Violence delivery:

• Advocate for the rights of children to be respected, heard and protected.
•  Deliver sessions for parents using Non Violent Resistance (NVR) techniques and child and family members, applying a systematic family approach to managing violence and abuse in the home.
• Adhere to the relevant programme manuals for parents as well as for the children and young people.

• Attend training sessions to enhance their delivery and understanding of NVR.
• Be personally accountable for the completion of assessments, pre and post questionnaires, and End of Intervention reports, and ensure they are to a high standard.
• Provide support and consultancy to other professionals to ensure appropriateness of referrals  and improve understanding on NVR and CBT techniques and working with families (parents and children and young people.
•  Ensure effective planning for the delivery of each intervention in advance of the session.
• Partake and pass all relevant NVR and other child, young people  and parent centred training to undertake this specialist work.
• Deliver community training as required.

About the role

This is a hugely exciting time to be joining Galop, with flexibility to think long term about how best to drive change and do something new and different. Whilst Galop has always advocated for policy change, this role is part of a new, growing team specifically focused on evidence-based policy change. The team is led by the Director of Policy and Evidence and composed of a Research Manager, Survivor Engagement Manager, Research Officer and this Policy Officer role.

We are building an effective Policy and Evidence team, rooted in frontline insights, a formal research programme, and opportunities to make change happen for LGBT people at a pivotal time. We work alongside Government ministers and officials, parliamentarians and regional authorities at the highest level to make evidence-based policy change.

As the Policy Officer, you will report to the Director of Policy and Evidence and work alongside the team to deliver Galop’s policy priorities, with support. You will also work closely with the Communications and Fundraising team and our Services.

You will be expected to:

• Undertake desk-based research, alongside using Galop’s own research, to support evidence-based policy analyses and positions.
• Draft policy briefings, research summaries, consultation responses, letters, reports, newsletters and stakeholder communications
• Research and track policy developments, political landscape changes, and other relevant areas to identify opportunities to further Galop’s objectives.
• Monitor and report on parliamentary activities, government announcements, and consultations relevant to LGBT victims/survivors.
• Assist the team to deliver funded influencing projects such as a mapping study of LGBT accessible support services across London, by supporting the Director to work with decision makers to make system-change happen across London.

• Assist with and, when required, project manage direct marketing campaigns, both online and offline, maximising income through acquisition and stewardship communications to secure one-off and regular gifts. 

• Manage relationships with creative, print and response handling agencies working on campaigns.

• Support the Senior Individual Giving Officers in achieving strategic objectives, monitoring income and expenditure and using database analysis to inform and improve the individual giving programme.

• Integrate the direct marketing programme into Fundraising and Experience Directorate activities and support the overall Parkinson’s UK strategic plan.

• Proven experience of successfully scheduling and managing campaigns to deliver results against agreed objectives and targets.

• Excellent copywriting, creative and proofreading skills for both online and offline materials.

• Group Legal function

You’ll lead on maintaining and evolving our Risk Management Framework, ensure we meet legal and regulatory requirements, and provide assurance to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
