1. Identify funding opportunities by keeping abreast of the funding landscape, as well as trends within the international development and Modern Slavery/Human Trafficking sectors, assessing new market opportunities, and forming partnerships. Donor management

Overview

The Campaigns and Alumni Relations Office (CAR) at the University of Sheffield is dedicated to inspiring alumni (former students) to make philanthropic gifts, as well as giving their time and expertise. A donation to the University of Sheffield can change lives, from supporting students in financial need to furthering world-leading research.

As part of CAR, the Individual Giving team encourages people to make gifts of up to £10,000 using a data-driven approach and a range of communication channels. We’re looking for a skilful communicator and project manager to join us.

The Individual Giving Manager will deliver a multi-channel fundraising strategy to encourage people to give at ‘mid-value’ level (£1,000-£10,000 each year) through direct mail and digital fundraising You’ll also support the wider team by project managing mass fundraising appeals that solicit gifts of all sizes by direct mail and email.

You’ll also be responsible for producing stewardship communications, including reports, that thank donors giving over £1,000.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Deliver a multi-channel fundraising strategy to encourage people to give at ‘mid-value’ level (£1,000-£10,000 each year) through direct mail and digital fundraising.
• Manage and build an active portfolio of individuals capable of making mid-value gifts, engaging this group with tailored communications.
• Make direct asks for donations to priority projects at the University. Current appeals include student scholarships, student hardship funds and medical research.
• Project manage direct response fundraising appeals that ask for gifts at all levels (including cash gifts under £1,000 and regular gifts by direct debit) and ensure appeals deliver a strong return on investment.
• Across all fundraising activities, manage relationships with external and internal agencies and internal teams that support your work. Develop clear project plans and briefs, as well as ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget.
• Deliver against individual and shared fundraising targets to help the Individual Giving team raise up to £1 million ‘cash in’ per year.
• Ensure ‘mid-value’ donors are stewarded through a programme of activities, including reports, that demonstrate the impact of their support and inspire repeat giving.
• Utilise data insight and audience knowledge to segment and personalise communications for priority groups, including preparing spreadsheets of data for appeals. 
• Work closely with other fundraisers within CAR to move individuals through the donation pipeline in order to grow and uplift gifts.
• Ensure that gifts are solicited and accepted in line with the University’s ethical policies.
• Maintain accurate records of relationships and ensure information gathered is available to other members of Campaigns & Alumni Relations.
• Stay on top of best practice in fundraising and promote excellence in fundraising  across the CAR office.

About the role

Joining our dedicated team of nurses, you will support our helpline and Ask Our Nurses (AON).

The nursing team includes an associate director, senior clinical nurse specialists, clinical nurse specialists, sessional nurses and trained helpline staff.

You will act as a resource for clients, healthcare professionals and the wider public about breast health and breast cancer. This includes providing information and support to clients though our national helpline, by email and social media.

The helpline service is run throughout the week, and on Saturday mornings (the latter is optional, other than training days) and the helpline hours are 8:45am to 4.00pm. Team training usually occurs twice a year on Saturdays. You’ll be supported by a senior clinical nurse specialist and have regular clinical supervision. We are looking for candidates who can work at least one day (6.25 hours) per week

The role:
We’re looking for a passionate and strategic Patrons Manager to join our high-performing Development team. Working closely with the Head of Individual Giving and managing the Membership Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional stewardship for our members and supporters, helping to meet and exceed annual income targets.

Guided by the Globe’s new 5-year business plan, you’ll lead on the strategic development of Friends and Patrons and contribute to individual giving campaigns across both revenue and capital projects. You’ll also collaborate with the Head of Individual Giving to strengthen our US philanthropic programme, helping to build lasting relationships.

The skills:

• Experience of holding responsibility for membership development, retention and assessment within an arts organisation or charity.
• Experience of successful face-to-face fundraising and high-level donor focused development.
• A demonstrable commitment to excellent donor stewardship at the highest level. 
• Experience of delivering fundraising targets, effective operational planning and financial tracking.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with a variety of people at all levels, including a well-developed sense of tact and diplomacy. 
• Experience of writing copy and corresponding with donors demonstrating strong literacy skills and the ability to create a compelling case for support.
• Experience of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and being a supportive team member.
• Experience of strong people management skills, either through direct line management or comparable responsibilities.
• Experience using a CRM system in a Development department (we use Tessitura).
• Proven project management skills, gained through having developed and managed projects independently. 
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
• Ability to analyse and present complex data and make recommendations for action/improvement.
• Demonstrable knowledge of marketing theory and its application to the development of successful membership recruitment and retention campaigns.
• Demonstrable knowledge of membership schemes across the arts sector, as well as general trends, techniques in fundraising and external relations.
• Understanding of the principles of equality and diversity and the ability to apply and promote these in practice at work.

Migrateful is an award-winning social enterprise and registered charity founded in 2017. Our mission is to support refugees and migrants facing barriers to employment and integration in the UK by offering training, paid work, and a supportive community.

Our chefs come from diverse backgrounds, often shaped by displacement, modern slavery, or gender-based violence. Through our programme, they train to lead cookery classes for the public and corporate groups, helping them build confidence, improve English skills, and gain meaningful work experience.

About the Role

The Operations Support Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of Migrateful’s cookery classes and the overall effectiveness of our operations. 

You’ll play the important role of supporting Facilitators by creating practical guides, coordinating training and skills-sharing sessions, gathering feedback, and maintaining up-to-date documentation such as health and safety records. 

Alongside this, you’ll help manage other key areas of Operations like responding to customer and volunteer queries, coordinating volunteers for public and corporate classes, and supporting process improvements around our use of Salesforce.

A key deliverable of this role is overseeing our invoicing process. You’ll be responsible for bi-weekly checks to ensure timely and accurate payments to our cookery class hosts (Facilitators) and teachers (Chefs). You’ll also support improvements that help us better track the real cost of our classes.

Person specification

This role would suit a proactive, organised, collaborative individual who enjoys variety in their work. You’ll need to be confident using systems, have a keen eye for detail, and take satisfaction in improving processes.

Essential

• Experience working in an operations, administrative or coordination role 
• Good attention to detail particularly in handling data, documents and financial information
• Confident engaging with a wide range of people from staff, freelancers and customers
• Ability to work independently and proactively, using initiative to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Confident user of IT systems, particularly Google Workspace and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce)
• Willingness to undertake reasonable responsibilities beyond the scope of the job description

Desirable

• Experience creating, updating, and maintaining user guides and training materials
• ​Willingness to provide occasional out-of-hours support
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene procedures, or possession of a relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 Food Hygiene)
   

Key Responsibilities

Invoicing

• Perform bi-weekly invoice checks and capture these on Salesforce
• ​Support the continuous improvement of invoicing systems 

Support Cookery Class Hosts (Facilitators) 

• Coordinate the periodic recruitment and onboarding of new Facilitators
• Update and improve Facilitator user guides and training materials
• Maintain regular communication with Facilitators, including announcements and process updates
• Carry out in-class observations and provide constructive feedback to Facilitators
• Provide out-of-hours remote support for Facilitator
• ​Share and implement improvements based on Facilitator feedback and survey results

Volunteer Coordination

• Respond to volunteer queries and troubleshoot the Volunteer Portal
• ​Ensure adequate volunteer coverage for all cookery classes
• Create supporting material to enhance the experience of volunteers in classes

General Operations Administration

• Maintain up-to-date operational records (e.g. DBS checks, risk assessments, food hygiene certificates)
• Complete ad hoc administrative tasks (e.g. equipment inventories, printing and laminating recipes)
• ​Support the implementation of operational policies across venues and staff

Cover and Additional Support

• Provide occasional out of-hours support to facilitators
• ​Willing to support the Operations team during periods of annual leave to ensure continuity of work

Systems and Process Improvement

• Contribute to the improvement of internal systems and processes, including support for Salesforce streamlining
• Office based admin e.g. purchasing office supplies, tracking equipment
• Support onboarding and off boarding of staff members

This is a hybrid role that requires you to work from our HQ office in Farringdon, London four days a week. Please note that you may be required to attend classes or other events outside your usual working hours. In these instances, you will be given advance notice and can claim time off in lieu (TOIL) during the week.

• Confidence working within a multi-agency framework.

• A relevant professional qualification (e.g., social work, youth work, or equivalent) is desirable.
