RUSI’s Proliferation and Nuclear Policy (PNP) programme addresses issues raised by the development and spread of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, and related technologies, through innovative research, dialogue and partnership with national and international bodies.

Main purpose of post  

The PONI Project Manager will be responsible for delivery and development of the United Kingdom Project on Nuclear Issues (UK PONI), a flagship project for the PNP programme. Since 2009, UK PONI has helped to address the nuclear policy and technology challenges of tomorrow by developing and sustaining emerging nuclear specialists from industry, academia, government, and the military, and by connecting them with established experts. Its goal is to build a vibrant and diverse community of well-informed, well-connected and capable nuclear specialists in the UK. 

To do this, it seeks to connect across boundaries, be they technical-policy, senior-junior, government and non-government, military-civilian, pro- and anti-nuclear, and internationally; it looks at ways it can help members of the nuclear community develop their knowledge and skills, including by promoting diversity of inclusion and representation; and it provides a platform for emerging talent, principally through its Annual Conference and through the UK PONI blog, Nuclear Reactions. Key tasks  

The Project Manager will: 

• Oversee and implement the UK PONI strategy, ensuring effective delivery and alignment with the wider Proliferation and Nuclear Policy (PNP) programme. 

• Develop and implement communications and engagement strategies for the UK PONI community and funders, including managing newsletters, social media channels, and marketing activity to enhance reach, visibility, and impact.

The IT Operations Manager will ensure the smooth and secure running of all technology systems across the charity. WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Oversee and coordinate the charity’s technology function, ensuring outsourced services are managed effectively, systems are secure and well-maintained, and projects are delivered on time. The postholder will act as the operational lead for technology, supporting staff and stakeholders and contributing to the ongoing development of the charity’s digital capabilities under the Head of Departments’ guidance.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will oversee and coordinate the charity’s technology function, ensuring outsourced IT services are managed effectively and systems remain secure, reliable, and fit for purpose.

You will act as the operational lead for technology, supporting staff and stakeholders while driving the delivery of small-to-medium projects such as system upgrades, CRM enhancements, and security improvements.
 

You will maintain oversight of all systems, integrations and licences, ensuring accurate documentation and identifying opportunities for improvement.

You will also play a key role in governance and compliance, promoting cyber security best practice, supporting data protection measures and maintaining the technology risk register.

Responsibilities of the Role

Supplier & service management

• Act as the main operational contact for outsourced IT support and helpdesk, charity database, and website providers, ensuring effective communication and service delivery.
• Monitor supplier performance, service level agreements (SLAs), and ticketing systems. Escalate issues and follow up to resolution as needed.
• Maintain the contract register, arrange renewals, and support procurement activities related to technology services and systems.

Systems oversight and documentation

• Maintain an up-to-date map of organisational systems, integrations, licences, and the asset register.
• Manage hardware and software requirements across the organisation, ensuring systems are fit for purpose and aligned with operational needs.
• Identify operational risks, technical issues or gaps in provision and implement quick-win improvements where possible.
• Ensure process documentation and user guides are accurate, accessible, and regularly updated.

Project coordination and delivery

About the Role

As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll be working hands-on day in day out with the young people living in the children’s home and act as the senior shift worker in the staff team.

You’ll work with a tight-knit team of colleagues to build a relationship and trust bond with the young people living at the home. It plays a key role in strengthening civil society, and fostering coherent linkages among programme, humanitarian and advocacy interventions across priority countries.

The role works collaboratively with partners to shape our response to poverty across the priority countries, to enable a culture of continuous learning. The role leads on ensuring that initiatives contribute to impact in CA’s four global thematic areas.
