Job description

Location:  Hybrid working between the Aldgate, London office

The charity is seeking to build upon its influencing progress over the last two years to make the urgent case for change with Governments across the four nations, as well as decision and policy makers in the health and clean air space. Our next Director of External Affairs will have the ability to meld impactful campaigning, political astuteness and evidence-based policymaking to drive change with demonstrable sensitivity to health inequalities which are especially acute in respiratory conditions.

Asthma + Lung UK is the only charity in the UK fighting for everyone with a lung condition, aiming for a world where everyone can breathe with healthy lungs. We fund cutting-edge research, provide advice and support for the 12 million people who will get a lung condition during their lifetime. We also campaign for clean air and for better NHS diagnosis and treatment.

Working closely with the Chief Executive and other stakeholders, you will help deliver our strategic goals by creating and leading plans relating to external affairs. You will be a member of the Executive Team providing leadership to the charity. As such you will contribute to, and be jointly responsible for, the development and delivery of the charity’s organisational strategy and business.

As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits including 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), membership of a health cash plan, employee assistance programme, cycle-to-work scheme, interest-free annual season Travelcard loan and pension scheme. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an organisation committed to being the driving force behind the transformation of lung health.
