Perhaps you’ve spotted there are no blue badge spaces at your local supermarket? Or maybe your neighbourhood has no kerbs easy for wheelchairs to use? In this volunteer role, you’ll help drive change for people with MS in your community and develop your networking and influencing skills along the way.

As a campaigner you’ll bring your own ideas, local knowledge and personal experience to your campaigns. You’ll make decisions about your own campaign activities and collaborate with other campaigners in your area.

This role is flexible and aims to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities and the campaigning you’d like to do. This is an ongoing role.

About the Role 

As an Advisory Board Member, you will support our mission by offering expert advice and thought leadership. This role is purely advisory — focused on influence, not governance or operations. There are three Advisory Boards, and the particular skills and experience we’re looking for each are listed below. 

• Member Group Quality and Standards Advisory Board 

• Participants – Championing the voice of our participants, ensuring the participant perspective is woven into our offering. 

• Volunteers – Leading the way in volunteering, ensuring RDAs vision to be a leader in volunteering experience across the UK.

• Vet – A qualified veterinary surgeon, leading in equine practice that will support the ongoing development of equine welfare policies and practices, supporting equine welfare to be the central part of RDAs way of delivering services. 

• Farrier – A qualified farrier, who is a leader in their field, using their knowledge and experience, supporting equine welfare to be the central part of RDAs way of delivering services. 

• Equine Physiotherapist – A qualified equine physio, who is a leader in their field, using their knowledge and experience, supporting equine welfare to be the central part of RDAs way of delivering services. 

• Equine Research – A leader in equine research ensuring RDA remains at the forefront of the latest best practise and welfare standards. 

• Equine Welfare – An individual with clear experience in the field that will ensure equine welfare continues to be central to how we deliver our services.

• Physiotherapy – A human focused physio to help us ensure equine welfare remains central to RDA as part of delivering therapy through horses. 

• Advanced Coach – A RDA coaching professional with advanced coaching qualifications to support the ongoing development of coaching knowledge of equine welfare. Preference for PRACA attendance. 

Note: Some roles have the option to sit across multiple Boards. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Offer strategic insight and professional expertise to inform key decisions. 

• Contribute actively to Advisory Board meetings (minimum twice per year). 

• Provide guidance on best practice, innovation, and emerging opportunities. 

• Support projects and collaborate between meetings as needed. 

• Assist in the development of reports and recommendations for RDA UK Trustees.

• Proven experience and leadership in a relevant industry.

• Prior board or advisory experience (desirable, not essential).

Commitment 

• Serve a 3-year term, renewable up to three times (maximum 9 years). 

• Attend two Advisory Board meetings annually, with additional engagement as required.

About the Pen Pal Project

The Pen Pal Project empowers children aged 7–16 to become confident communicators by engaging them in creative, meaningful letter writing. UK pupils are matched with peers in Nigeria and other Sub-Saharan African countries to exchange letters over six structured sessions throughout the academic year.

The project supports pupils in:

• Developing core literacy skills (reading, writing, sentence structure, vocabulary)

• Strengthening confidence, empathy, and communication through storytelling

• Learning about different cultures, family structures, traditions, and daily life in another part of the world

• Practising both written and spoken English in an encouraging, low-pressure environment

Each school cohort follows a themed session plan exploring topics such as identity, youth culture, food, heritage, health, and hobbies.

Sessions are delivered by trained volunteers, with support from teachers and UK Reads staff.

Role Overview

As a Writing Session Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting literacy, creativity, and inclusion in schools. You’ll work directly with students to help them explore personal expression, read incoming pen pal letters, and craft thoughtful responses.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about education, communication, cultural exchange, and making a difference at a grassroots level.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate six themed writing sessions at a primary or secondary school in London (sessions take place during school hours)

• Create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere where all students feel safe to write and express themselves

• Support pupils with varied literacy levels, including those with special educational needs (SEND), English as an additional language (EAL), or lower confidence in reading/writing

• Guide pupils in reading and responding to letters received from international pen pals

• Encourage vocabulary development, sentence structure, and narrative skills using the provided facilitator resources

• Use creativity and cultural awareness to promote engagement and curiosity

• Complete light administrative tasks (~1 hour per session), including:

  • Reviewing students’ letters for safeguarding

  • Submitting short post-session reflections or feedback forms

• Attend a short online training session and stay in communication with the UK Reads team

Time Commitment

• Approx. 6-8 hours/month over the academic year

• Each session includes:

  • ~1 hour in-school delivery time

  • ~1 hour admin/reflection time

• Plus training, planning, and communication time as needed

• Sessions are typically spaced two per academic term (six total)

Volunteers are matched with one school and are expected to complete the full six-session cycle to ensure continuity and build rapport with pupils.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds. You don’t need formal teaching experience — just commitment, empathy, and a passion for helping young people thrive.

Essential:

• Strong spoken and written English

• Comfortable working with children and young people in a school setting

• Reliable, organised, and able to follow session plans

• Open-minded, culturally sensitive, and adaptable to different learning styles

• Able to commit to a minimum of 6 sessions over the academic year (during school hours)

• Based in London or able to travel to schools across the city

• Willing to complete a DBS check and safeguarding training

Desirable (but not required):

• Experience in education, youth work, creative writing, literacy support, or mentoring

Would you like to support the unpaid carers of people with mental health issues? We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring person to join our management committee.

Kingston Mental Health Carers’ Forum is a small but active charity that represents unpaid mental health carers (ie Family, Friends) in the Royal Borough of Kingston. Local statutory services recognize our collective voice and campaigning role and actively engage us in policy making and service development.

Our current team - all volunteers - includes people with professional skills and lived experience of being mental health carers. Because of this we understand the issues facing carers, for them personally and their loved ones. We provide 1:1 advice and guidance, and encourage self-empowerment.

We hold a monthly support group and keep members up to date on current mental health provision. We believe that supporting carers’ wellbeing will also help their loved ones, aiming for the best possible mental health.

We want to grow our membership and develop our services. As a volunteer with the relevant professional skills, lived experience and a strong motivation to serve our local community, you can contribute to shaping the future direction of KMHCF.

As we have no paid staff, we are particularly keen to hear from those who can also offer to take hands-on responsibility for moving the development of our service forward. This might indicate an applicant who offers professional skills, but is now retired and would like to serve the community.

CoachActivism

CoachActivism provides high-quality, pro-bono coaching to humanitarian workers and volunteers.

We are a group of committed professionals with a dedication to offering mental health coaching and leadership support to organisations and individuals in the humanitarian sphere.

Our coaches work with our clients on their unique personal and/or team challenges, individuals receive up to 6 hours of free coaching, from a professional, certified coach. Our coaches will support our clients as they navigate challenges in the area of burnout reduction, self-care, stress and time-management, building resilience and more effective team communication.

We're excited to hear from you and create some amazing results together. We are currently open to accepting a new additional steering committee members, so if you are passionate about humanitarian aid and coaching and willing to help, reach out any time!

Strategic Planning Workshop Facilitator

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

We are seeking a skilled volunteer to design and facilitate a strategic planning workshop that will help our team clarify priorities, align goals, and create a roadmap for the future.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with leadership to understand organizational goals and current challenges

Design an engaging and effective strategic planning session (2-4 hours long)

Facilitate the workshop, ensuring full participation and clear outcomes

Summarize key insights and proposed next steps in a short follow-up report

Ideal Candidate:

Experience facilitating strategy or planning sessions (nonprofit or small business experience a plus)

Strong communication and group facilitation skills

Ability to remain neutral while guiding decision-making

Strategic thinker with a collaborative mindset

Ability to conduct the session online in time favourable to GMT+2

Reporting to: Project Director, and to the Communications Manager

Remuneration: Pro-bono, Transport and Lunch covered.

Days and Hours: 2hrs a week, Wednesdays Ideally, or otherwise arranged.

Duration:  3-month commitment, to revisit every month ongoing.

Location: London, several central areas and expanding reach, flexible location and availability to do remotely.

Breadwinners is growing, and are delighted to offer an amazing opportunity for a Pro-Bono Part-Time GoogleAds Manager to support the Director and Comms manager on delivering GoogleAds Campaigns for not for profit, and grow our community of supporters, helping more young refugees into their first UK job at our market stalls selling the best artisan organic bread and gaining training and mentoring.

We are looking for a highly motivated, creative and innovative GoogleAds Volunteer with a passion for supporting refugees and young people seeking asylum. We are a small, and ambitious start-up, so a can-do attitude and the drive to work within a small, start-up team, delivering a huge impact is essential, together with an ability to assist our beneficiaries at the market stalls over the weekend.

You will be working with the Managing Director, Comms Manager, core team, young people and volunteers, charity partners to deliver our GoogleAds Campaigns, maintaining a CTR of at least 7% and maximising the use of Google Grants. 

You will have the chance of seeing the impact your work has, meeting amazing people that deserve better opportunities, working together with a passionate team in a fun and positive environment.

Support the Comms Officer in delivering accurate and creative copy content for google platforms, promoting the skills and resilience of Refugees and People seeking asylum, promoting our bread delivery e-commerce. Work as a team respecting Breadwinners Values. 

• GoogleAds 

Create and run GoogleAds Campaigns, driving traffic to specific areas of Breadwinners Website. Maximise the use of Google Ads Grants. Report campaigns status and creation on the Breadwinners spreadsheet.
