We are currently recruiting volunteers to support our Mental Health services, which include group co-facilitators, initial appointment hosts, activity facilitators, mental health plan facilitators.

HeadsOut is a strengths-based crisis prevention, intervention and wellbeing LGBT+ support service.

Our aim is to enhance people’s wellbeing and functioning by focusing on their strengths and resources, reinforcing resilience and enhancing protective external factors, including creating safe spaces, community connection, a sense of belonging, empowerment and affirmation. 

By joining the HeadsOut Team you will:

• Support people who experience mental distress
• Make a positive contribution to the LGBT+ community
• Be given relevant training and support 

Our services are delivered on various days and times across the week and weekends, plus during the day and evenings, so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. 

Respecting diversity, understanding and upholding professional boundaries and confidentiality are of course fundamental to all of our work and you will be required support this. 

All our volunteer facilitators must positively identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and/ or trans (Schedule 9, Part 1, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010 applies).

We're looking for a finance assistant volunteer who can support the financial administration of the charity using our finance software,  Xero. We The volunteer will support the Chair to undertake regular financial tasks such as budgeting, reporting, and audits while ensuring financial transparency. 
 

Key Tasks and Objectives

• Support the financial management of the Charity using Xero
• Data Entry: Recording financial transactions such as donations, invoices and expenses into our finance software, Xero.
• Weekly Reconciling income into Xero from GoCardless, Stripe, PayPal and other third-party agencies that facilitate donations being made to the charity.
• Maintain financial and accounting records, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Assist with preparing payroll and/or pension information for submission to an external payroll provider (when required)
• Assist with the preparation of the accounts, quarterly and annual accounts for accountant annually as well as supporting funder financial reports
• Track the financial situation of projects
• Ensure that all necessary financial information is recorded accurately
• Assist with financial forecasting and budgeting
• Document Management: Organising and filing receipts, invoices, and other financial documents (digitally).
• Assist the Chair, volunteers or members of staff in understanding and using the accounting software
• Any other tasks that may be required from time to time or during the final accounts period, as appropriate.
• Assist with general administration relating to finances

Key Skills or Qualifications

Essential:

• Knowledge and experience of using Xero accounting software, including tracking project spending, managing volunteers’ expenses and department spending, uploading invoices, reconciliation, etc.
• Understanding of tracking financial data and information
• Experience of working in a bookkeeping role
• Accurate and up-to-date knowledge and experience of charity finance, SORP and other relevant frameworks
• The ability to quickly understand the needs of and challenges faced by our small charity organisation
• Strong numeracy and financial management skills
• Strong organisational skills
• Comfortable working remotely
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Ability to quickly understand the needs of our team, organisation and users of our services (we are not expecting you to have an awareness of the condition we support)
• Good initiative and ability to work with little direct supervision, but will ask for help when needed
• Ability to work flexibly on your own and as part of a team with enthusiasm and commitment

Desirable:

• Knowledge of charity accounting including restricted and unrestricted funding 
• Understanding of financial management within a charity

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.

Our Blackheath Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

We are seeking volunteer photographers to help us build a high-quality image library and create eye-catching visuals for our social media channels, website, publications, and case studies. Your photographs will play a key role in showcasing our impact and motivating more people to support a greener, healthier London.

You will have the flexibility to capture photos in your local area, focusing on specific themes featured in the supporting document. Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

The well being of our people is important and at Cats Protection we are committed to safeguarding children, adults at risk and all those that we encounter as part of our activities.

Founded in 1997, the Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants provides a place for refugees, migrants, and people seeking asylum to rebuild their life with support and community. From classes to casework to financial assistance, the Centre has a wide offering available for our community of over 200 people. Our approach is compassionate and human and the support we offer is long term - on average people stay with us around four years.

The current Board brings a wide range of charity and public body experience including strategy and fundraising and we are looking for skills to both enhance and complement these strengths.

The Centre has a dedicated and talented staff team led by our CEO, Andy Ruiz Palma, who joined in 2000 as an English teacher. In addition to this staff resource we have around 40 volunteers who provide direct support through activities. We also have in place accountancy support to the executive and a dedicated fundraising team.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a strong empathy with our client group and who understand how to work with organisations rooted in a local community. You will bring excellent people and communication skills and demonstrate good team-working.

Join our amazing volunteer team to raise awareness of the issues affecting blind and partially sighted people in relation to sport. You will give talks in person or virtually, sharing your own story to improve understanding of sight loss to sports clubs, sporting venues and facilities and community groups. You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to improve accessibility and inclusivity, creating a sporting world without barriers.

What you’ll be doing
1. Talks to sports and physical activity providers to support and encourage them to consider the needs of blind and partially sighted people by sharing your story to audiences, for example, local leisure centres, sporting venues and sports clubs.
2. Delivering talks to raise awareness of existing sporting and physical activity opportunities for blind and partially sighted people.
3. Representing RNIB as an Ambassador for the Community Connection service.

Just Like Us is recruiting a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees, to oversee Just Like Us’ financial affairs. This is a voluntary role and applicants should have Chartered Accountant status.

Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity. Growing up LGBT+ is still unacceptably tough. Founded in 2016, we work with schools across the UK to change this; empowering young people and teachers to champion LGBT+ equality.

We run programmes in schools across the UK:

● School Diversity Week and Resource Library: More than 7,000 primary and secondary schools are signed up to receive our free educational resources to help them celebrate in June every year
● Ambassadors and School talks: We train LGBT+ young people (18 to 25 year olds) to deliver relatable talks in secondary schools on allyship and growing up LGBT+
● Pride Groups: We help secondary schools and young leaders to set up a Pride Group for LGBT+ pupils and their allies; providing training, resources and 121 support

Our achievements

● We are the UK’s leading LGBT+ young people’s charity
● More than 7,000 primary and secondary schools across the UK take part in our programmes
● Our funding has quickly grown to just over £1m annual income since the charity began in 2016

Role Profile
General Responsibilities

In addition to the responsibilities outlined in The Charity Commission’s The Essential Trustee: what you need to know, as a trustee you will be expected to:

● Review board papers and attend board meetings (minimum of 4 times a year)
● Give firm strategic direction to the organisation, assess risk and evaluate performance
● Ensure that Just Like Us pursues its charitable objectives and complies with its governing document and other relevant legislation or regulations
● Support the employed leadership team
● Represent Just Like Us at events

Specific Responsibilities

As Treasurer, you will also be expected to:
● Oversee Just Like Us’ financial affairs, ensuring our ongoing financial viability and compliance with legal and constitutional obligations including the Charities SORP
● Ensure that the Board of Trustees understands and complies with their financial obligations, and guide the Board in their financial appraisal of Just Like Us
● Ensure that effective and appropriate financial procedures and controls are in place
● Work with the leadership team to review and report on Just Like Us’ financial risk management process and financial health at board meetings
● Work with the CEO to produce our annual accounts and budget forecasts, and be a key point of contact during the annual audit of accounts
● Act as a counter signatory for online banking and applications to funders

As Treasurer you should have:

● Chartered Accountant status 
● Awareness and knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and the Charities SORP
● Commitment to our vision and mission
● Strategic vision and good, independent, critical judgement
● Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
● Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrating good judgement
● Willingness to be available to employed staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis

Stepping Stones is a small, friendly charity in Southwark providing inclusive activities for adults with learning disabilities. We believe everyone should have the chance to express themselves, connect with others, and take part in activities that bring joy, confidence, and new skills.

We’re currently looking for volunteers to support our sessions in:

• Art (Tuesday afternoons)
• Dance Fit (Thursday mornings and/or afternoons)
• Social Club (Thursday afternoons)
• Drama (Friday afternoons)

These weekly groups offer creative, social, and wellbeing-focused opportunities for our learners, led by experienced tutors in a relaxed, supportive setting.

What You’ll Do

As a volunteer, you’ll be supporting adults with learning disabilities to participate fully in the sessions, connect with others, and enjoy meaningful activities. Your role might include:

You don’t need to be an expert! We’re looking for people with the right attitude, values, and willingness to support others. Even if you don’t have experience of working with adults with learning disabilities, the following qualities are especially helpful:

• Enthusiasm and positivity. Your energy can set the tone for the group. A cheerful presence helps create a welcoming and encouraging environment.
• Patience. Some learners may take time to engage or communicate. Patience helps build trust and ensures everyone feels supported.
• Reliable and punctual. Many of our learners value consistency and routine. Being dependable helps build rapport and ensures the session runs smoothly.
• Inclusive communication skills. You should feel confident listening carefully, offering clear instructions or encouragement, and adapting your communication to meet individual needs.
• Inclusive and non-judgemental. We welcome people from all walks of life. An open-minded approach helps every learner feel accepted and valued.
• Adaptable and flexible. Things don’t always go to plan. A calm, flexible approach helps maintain a relaxed and safe environment for our sessions to run.
• Ready to get stuck in! Many sessions involve art, music or movement. You don’t need to be an expert, but a willingness to join in and get involved makes a big difference.

Prior to volunteering, we ask all volunteers to:

• Attend an induction meeting
• Provide two references
• Complete a DBS check (we will arrange this)
• Commit to volunteering one session per week for 3 x 10 week terms throughout the year. For continuity for our service users, we ask that you commit to volunteer for a minimum of a year with us.
