Sessional Project Worker - Advocacy

£13.65 an hour as per sessional rate.

Location: Home based, but travel is expected to cover Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester.

The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services across the North West that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way.

This role sits within our Youth Impact domain, which works to provide immediate one-to-one support for children and young people who urgently need advocacy across Cheshire and support for children and young people who go missing in Manchester.

We are currently looking for a skilled practitioner to join our dynamic and ambitious team on a sessional basis. Hours will be available as/when the service identifies need for sessional staff and we can accommodate flexibility to suit sessional workers at times when they are available (e.g., morning/afternoon/evening).

A key part of this role will be to enable the children and young people we support to be able to express their views on matters important to them and issues which affect their lives.

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

-A relevant professional qualification e.g. Youth & Community, Education or NVQ 3 Health & Social Care Or HNC in Social Care or Early Years 3 NVQ3 Health & Social Care.

-Knowledge and understanding of a range of evidence-based interventions and creative ways of working with children and young people

-An ability to develop and maintain positive and constructive relationships with children and young people

About the role:

Gaddum are recruiting for a Project Worker to be part of the Carers Manchester Team.

Carers Manchester is a partnership of Statutory and Voluntary Sector organisations who work together the plan, enhance and deliver advice and support services for unwaged carers in the city. Through working together, the Carers Manchester Pathway is in place, which supports carers being able to access the right advice and support at the right time in their caring journey.

Following the recent award of a new contract to deliver these services we are looking for a Project Worker to support us in developing a Respite strategy for Manchester unpaid carers and developing and Expert by Experience Carers panel which will ensure that the carers voice is heard in everything we do. • Support the creation of project management tools for these pieces of work and maintain them. 

• Lead on consultation activities for the Respite strategy

• Support the recruitment of carers who may wish to be involved with the Expert by Experience panel

About the role:

This role is home working based with travel in the West Midlands area of England. As a Homicide Service Children and Young Person caseworker you will be:

• Delivering a specialist service to children and young people (CYP) bereaved by homicide, and for those CYP who have witnessed a homicide
• Working collaboratively and jointly within the Homicide Service and other relevant organisations that can help to progress identified needs and ensure that young people are central to all processes that involve them.
• Acting as the designated caseworker and manage a caseload
• Implementing the CYP Homicide Service Delivery Model
• Work closely and support colleagues to provide a trauma informed service to children and young people.

You will be responsible for providing a high-quality, front-line service to bereaved young people following murder or manslaughter. Working with colleagues in the National Homicide Service, as well as partner agencies including education, police, courts, social services and many other statutory and third sector organisations.

You will need to be able to travel to face to face sessions within, and occasionally outside of region, and therefore a driving license and use of a car are essential. You will be reimbursed for all travel costs.

This is a full time, temporary role whilst permanent recruitment takes place and will involve working across two refuges supporting those fleeing domestic violence.

As a Domestic Abuse Worker, you will be responsible for;

• Managing an allocated caseload of women and children fleeing domestic abuse.
• Completing safety plans and risk assessments for those living within the refugee.
• Completing support plans personalised to the needs of those living within the refuge.
• Providing advice and guidance to those fleeing domestic abuse, whilst signposting to appropriate external organisations where necessary.
• Ensuring accurate, up to date case notes for each resident.
• Liaising with external agencies and professionals around the needs of each resident within the refuge.
• Ensuring the refuge is a clean, safe environment for those living within the refuge.
• Supporting residents with benefit applications and housing applications for long term accommodation.

The candidate - Domestic Abuse Worker

• Experience of supporting those fleeing domestic abuse.
• An understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness and or other vulnerabilities i.e. severe and enduring mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with experience in administration within the social care field to work with us as a Family Finding Worker. This role is home-based, and it will cover placements for our Yorkshire & North-East areas.

The Family Finding Worker is responsible for receiving placement requests for children who need to be looked after and matching them to our foster carer in cooperation with the Duty Social Worker.  The role requires exceptional communication skills and discretion, sensitivity and the capability to deal with conflicting priorities at times.

Why Access Social Care Exists 

Everyday millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us, we will all need social care at some point. 

We all have a right to hold public bodies to account. But most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 77% drop in community care legal aid cases since 2010 means we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken.

Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. We work with communities to increase knowledge of the law and our rights. We highlight the gap left by cuts to Legal Aid and provide advice for those who can’t afford it. 
With a 98% success rate, our network of lawyers and barristers ensure fair access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. We are working towards a future where social care is adequately funded, and we all get the support we need. 

About the role 

This is an exciting time to join our organisation. We have a new strategy and are growing quickly including across our senior leadership team. We have nearly tripled in size and income since we started operating in April 2020 and we anticipate that this strong growth will continue for the duration of our next strategic period. 

We are looking for someone with excellent people skills to play a key role in developing and piloting an approach to support people to engage with and use our on-line Social Care early legal help tool. Initially, this project will be focused on how to support carers who have multiple barriers to accessing the support they and the person they care for need.

We want to pilot a network of Peer Navigators who will act as an interface between the tool and people who are most underserved by social care and advice services and experience intersectionality of barriers. The role would particularly suit someone who has experience of the social care system as a family carer or disabled person and/or someone who has experienced barriers to accessing services due to other protected characteristics. 

The role is new and will initially focus on working within our place-based Hubs of Croydon and Gloucestershire. The role will require a creative person who can work in partnership with other members of the team, people with lived experience of social care support and social care organisations.  They will need to develop a set of policies and procedures for the delivery of the project and recruit, train and supervise the Peer Navigators.

To be a success in this role, you should be an excellent team worker, communicator, proactive, flexible, excellent people skills, highly organised and able to meet deadlines. You should also have a thorough understanding of co-production.

Responsibilities 

• With Hubs manager, Hub team members and people with lived experience – refine the aims of the project and identify priorities 

• Develop and implement a project plan for delivery of the project 

• Develop a role description for the Peer Navigators 

• Identify and test different options for advertising and recruiting Peer Navigators 

• Train Peer Navigators in the Care Act and use of the chatbot 

• Develop guidance on how people can seek advice about their employment and benefit status in relation to fulfilling the role 

• Develop and run an appropriate supervision process to ensure good quality support is offered 

• Arrange further training as chatbot develops 

• Set up and run Peer Navigator team meetings to ensure they feel supported, and we learn from their experiences 

• Devise a monitoring and evaluation framework and set up proformas for peer navigators to capture outcomes

Power2 is a fast growing and energetic children and young people’s charity that has supported 27,000 young people since 2001.  We are based in the North West of England and London and deliver early-intervention asset-based programmes to children and young people who have mental wellbeing challenges and are disengaged from school and more widely. Job Purpose: The project aims to deliver a range of trauma-informed learning and development opportunities to women impacted by the criminal justice system. Delivered in our Manchester and Trafford women’s centres, these gender responsive activities, co-produced with women with lived experience, will provide personal and practical skill development that meets their needs and supports their aspirations around employment or education, including a focus on wellbeing and practical learning.

Key Responsibility Areas

1. Co-ordinate and deliver a schedule of trauma informed and gender responsive workshops that aim to address wellbeing and reduce barriers women impacted by the CJS face in accessing employment or education opportunities.
2. Maintain case management systems to ensure accurate and timely data recording.
3. Develop and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders, such as lived experience groups, education, training and employment networks and local services.
4. Create opportunities for women impacted by the criminal justice system to input into the programme, such as co-production, and peer supporters

Snow Camp is a ground-breaking national youth charity, and we are looking to recruit a fantastic new North West Wellbeing Manager and Programme Support to join our North West team on a 4 day a week contract (30 hrs).

Our accredited programmes are unique and attractive to young people, taking them from beginner to qualified snowsports instructors in just one year with volunteering and apprenticeship progression routes available at the end. Alongside learning to ski or snowboard, young people also have access to wellbeing support with the emphasis on improving young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

You will report to the North West Programme Manager & Head of Snowsports and will be responsible for the delivery of our wellbeing workshops and providing 1to1 wellbeing support sessions to young people. You will also work as part of the North West team to assist with the planning and delivery of snowsports and life-skills focused youth activities run by the Programme Manager and assist with the apprenticeship programme throughout each year.

Experience of working successfully with under-served young people in a range of settings, with a focus on supporting young people’s wellbeing will be essential to the post. Passion for snowsports and supporting young people generally will be a huge advantage!

Youth work, wellbeing support experience, project management, logistical skills, managing relationships, communication and presentation skills will make up the role. Along with experience of delivering group workshops to help young people work towards meaningful goals to improve their emotional wellbeing.

Job Description

• You will spend roughly 2.5 days will be in the Wellbeing Manager role and 1.5 days will be in the Programme Support role each week.
• In consultation with the Programme Manager, to manage the delivery of the Wellbeing Workshops and 1to1 mentoring support needed for young people and apprentices.
• Work with the programme manager to gain the young people’s trust and confidence.
• To assist with delivery and development of The North West’s full snowsports focused journey of youth programmes which take place at Chill Factore.
• Build a good relationship with the North West Programme Manager to help provide support and guidance to young people.
• Support with the management of (currently) 3 x North West apprentices on their 1-year Snow Camp Apprenticeship programme. particularly helping to manage their wellbeing and signpost to other services where needed.

• Providing weekly 1to1 support sessions for each apprentice.
• Having an understanding and an involvement in the development of their weekly working rotas.

• Use our UPSHOT online database system to keep records and ensure all monitoring and evaluation is carried out.
• Attend external training as required (e.g. Safeguarding and Mental Health Awareness tutor training courses).
• Ensure that all activities and provision you deliver is done safely and in line with organisational policies.
• Support the Programme Manager to ensure all programmes run smoothly and effectively by supporting the delivery of each programme – managing venue instructors, guest speakers, apprentices, youth staff, sessional staff and volunteers as required.
• Support the Programme Manager with recruiting young people for each programme through visits to youth projects, promotion through email to all relevant youth programmes and services and presenting at key stakeholder meetings on youth service provision. Finding new young people in the North West area to support by Snow-Camp will be key.
• Support the Programme Manager with programme administration including finances, SLAs, attendance records, risk assessments, bookings and young people’s records on Upshot.
• Support with management and delivery of trips and overseas residential’s (Snow-Camp Excel, Apprenticeship & Youth Forum Residential’s) as part of Snow-Camp programmes. Including support with all the necessary risk assessments.
• Additional tasks may vary depending on different opportunities throughout the year.

Management and support

The North West Wellbeing Manager & Programme Support will report to the North West Programme Manager & Head of Snowsports Morv Bett who will provide support and guidance.

The Trustee board will determine the overall direction of Snow Camp and will set the overall priorities in consultation with the Director and Senior Team.
