Specific Duties & Responsibilities
 
Service Delivery & Development

• Work closely with the Youth Work Manager and wider youth team in developing and delivering creative, inclusive and needs-led programmes, activities and services for young people that promote their wellbeing and enhance their life chances.
• Actively promote the meaningful participation of young people in shaping the ongoing development of Blend Youth Project service delivery.
• Work effectively across Blend sites and delivery locations in a range of contexts including: open drop-in sessions, alternative education provision, project-based delivery, community projects, detached work, 1:1 mentoring, residentials and school-based work.
• Function as the ‘Lead Worker’ within a variety of delivery contexts and conduct yourself as a role model in youth work practice, providing practice-based support to other staff/volunteers as required.
• Support the planning and delivery of alternative education sessions in a variety of settings as required and directed by the Alternative Education & Post-16 Manager and Specialist Teacher.
• Take a shared responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Branch, ensuring that young people have access to a range of services that meet their needs e.g. employment support, sexual health services etc.
• Take a shared responsibility for the care, upkeep and management of all Blend premises, equipment and resources, ensuring that routine practices and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
• In the absence of the Youth Work Manager, act as a key point of contact for matters such as Branch premises procedures and protocols.

 
Quality Assurance & Communications

• To be responsible for the timely completion of all session plans, evaluation forms, progress tracking documents and all associated quality assurance documents. 
• Track, record and report upon project progress to support funding monitoring reports / SLA requirements as required.
• Actively participate in producing content and promotional material for use in Blend Youth Project social media platforms, website and offline materials.

• To manage your time effectively and efficiently ensuring that the majority of your working time is direct and sustained delivery of face-to-face work with young people.
• To be responsible for the effective planning, organisation and administration of the post, maintaining appropriate records of work planned and undertaken.

Working pattern

This is a hybrid full-time role (typically 2 days on-site), 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday based in SW London with occasional travel to another office (around once a month).  The other office is about 20  minutes from Clapham or London Bridge.

Flexible working hours are available but please note that you would need to ensure you are on-site on time for any meetings. 

About you

My client requires someone who has the experience of supporting senior management on governance and organisational matters, ideally in a science-based working environment as you will be taking minutes from science meetings, so could prove challenging without that understanding.

You will need to be a confident minute taker and offer previous governance and committee support experience.

The role requires intermittent travel in your region (usually within the day) this can involve journeys times of 1 hour+. Occasional travel out of your local area e.g. to London is also required, this may include overnight stays.

Salary

£28,250 per annum (pro rata). 

Pro-rated salary is £14,125 per annum for 18.75 hours per week.

What could my day look like?

The Education Worker role is a frontline, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same. A typical day will have different activities, possibly spread between the IntoUniversity centre, partner schools and the offices of a corporate partner.

In the morning, you might be setting off with resources to run a workshop for sixth-form students in their secondary school. In the afternoon you may be setting up the classroom ahead of running Primary Academic Support for young people in your IntoUniversity centre. On other days, you may be travelling to a corporate partner to run a business simulation workshop for 15 year-olds or leading a group of final year primary school students on a campus visit for their graduation.

As an Education Worker, you’ll always be delivering the programme as part of your centre team, which means that any delivery is always a team effort.

The Independent Living Medication Support Service (ILMSS) in Lambeth is a community-based floating support service designed for adults with primary mental health needs and often dual diagnoses.

The service aims to help individuals stay well, avoid hospitalisation, and live independently in the community. The service provides one-to-one support in customer's homes to build awareness, routines, and skills for medication management. Furthermore, it aims to support customers with housing, benefits, and social issues through short-term interventions.

As Service Manager for the Lambeth ILMS service, you will lead a dynamic team delivering floating support to 105 customers and medication support to 35 customers across the borough. Leadership and competence development in direct reports is a key responsibility of the role. Post-holders may also carry client group specialism responsibilities, linking in with other Managers and Head of Services to ensure focused integration of specialisms across the whole organisation.

The working pattern for this role is primarily Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional requirements for weekend and out-of-hours work to meet service needs.
