What will you be doing?

The purpose of your role is to give the highest possible standards of support to individuals with profound learning disabilities and other physical health conditions. This is a varied and responsible role. As well as assisting with personal care and sensory needs, you will support individuals with their physical health eg PEG feeding, suction, physiotherapy and medication. You will also carry out everyday household tasks. You will help people to engage in everyday home, social and leisure interests, reaching goals like travelling or holidays and working positively with their families and friends.

Your person-centred approach will enable people to have choices about their own lives. You will work with external health professionals to deliver a service model that promotes and reflects evidence-based practice. The role

In delivering the role, you will work on a rota shift pattern, ensuring young people at the service have non-judgemental, objective, and supportive staff during the day. You will work with the Managers and the wider housing team to provide effective day to day management of our accommodation project. This includes delivering one to one sessions and group work sessions to assist residents to develop personally and socially in order that they grow in confidence and move towards independence. You will also support young people to safeguard themselves against abuse and risk.

Based on site, this role is on a seven-day rolling rota, including weekends and bank holidays. There is a small amount of lone working, but you will get to know the team and project, along with extensive training prior to starting on a rota.

Liverpool SHS is a mental health, 12 hour supported housing and community based service, working to a recovery model. We provide a range of support services for people with mental ill health to access in their local community, including outreach support, tenancy support, peer support and supported housing. Campbell Rd Young Peoples service provides support and housing for 55 young people in Tower Hamlets that are either leaving care of affected by youth homelessness.
