About the role

Kinship Minds is a transformative programme that enhances the support we provide to kinship carers in England and Wales.

Our goal is to build kinship carers' confidence and equip them with the knowledge and skills to support children in their care—especially in recognising and responding to early signs of mental health issues.

We are at the beginning of our journey to embed therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches across all areas of service delivery. This includes one-to-one support, digital resources and training, and peer support networks.

The Strategic Trauma-Informed Practitioner will lead this transition, helping us move from a trauma-sensitive organisation on a journey that becomes trauma-aware, trauma-informed, and ultimately trauma-responsive. 

The type of person we’re looking for: 

You will need to be able to step into this role quickly, bringing your experience of building and developing trauma informed approaches in complex services.   

You will have strong leadership capabilities, able to work at pace autonomously with creativity and dynamism.  You will need to have excellent attention to detail.   

What you'll be doing: 

This strategic and hands-on role will help Kinship strengthen its therapeutic offer and build the confidence and capacity of staff and kinship carers to understand trauma and the impact it has, and strategies to support. We are particularly interested in experience in developing trauma-informed parenting training and resources.   

The postholder will play a key role in developing and manualising our trauma-informed approach across core services: Kinship Connected, Kinship Reach, our Advice Service, and Peer Support Service. It will work with subject matter experts to develop trauma-informed approaches, toolkits, and resources for everyday service delivery, based on the needs of kinship carers and their families.   

Key responsibilities: 

• Develop and lead Kinship’s trauma-informed strategy, ensuring the implementation of trauma-informed principles across all service delivery (for example using Dr Karen Treisman’s approach).  

• Lead the development and manualisation of trauma-informed practice across Kinship Connected, Kinship Reach, the Advice Service, and the Peer Support Service. This includes resources, approach and content.   

• Develop and deliver capacity-building approaches and resources for kinship carers to help them identify and respond to trauma and mental health needs in children.  

• Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to develop self-guided training, toolkits, and multimedia resources.   

• Represent Kinship at external events and meetings to raise awareness of the services and to influence other organisations, policy and practice.  

Knowledge, abilities, skills and experience: 

• A qualified trauma-informed practitioner with significant experience in delivering or developing trauma-informed services.  

• Experience working with kinship carers or in adoption and fostering sector.   

• Proven experience applying the principles of trauma-informed care across organisations, preferably in children and family services.  

• Qualified or accredited practitioner in Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) or demonstrable experience using the approach in practice.  

• Experience in designing and delivering training and coaching for professionals and/or families on trauma and therapeutic approaches.  

• Excellent understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures focusing on contributing to a culture which values transparency, reflective practice and continuous learning.

As a Rough Sleeping Outreach and Assessment Worker, you’ll play a vital role in our Street Outreach Service and the new 24-hour Assessment Centre. One night you could be out on the street engaging with people sleeping rough; the next day you might be welcoming someone to the centre, creating a support plan, and linking them to housing and health services.

What you’ll do

• Carry out late-night street outreach and day-time reception shifts as part of a rota.
• Build trusting relationships with people who are rough sleeping and help them move quickly into safe accommodation.

The Deputy Service Manager supports the Service Manager in effectively managing all operational matters within their designated services, including line management of frontline staff.

The ideal candidate

To be considered for this role you should meet the following criteria:

• Deliver support to people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping in the borough of Tower Hamlets.

• Conduct person-centred assessments with individuals who self-present at the service for support.

• Agree support plans with service users to move into accommodation and access specialist services that address the underlying causes of their homelessness.

• Make referrals into Tower Hamlets and Pan-London local authority housing options services, in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act.

• Work with partner agencies to provide joint support to service users where appropriate.

• Build relationships with housing providers and the private rented sector to expand the portfolio of affordable referral routes into accommodation.

• Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to create positive working relationships with a wide range of people, including external services.

• Contribute to the development of the service, ensuring a solution-focused and strengths-based approach in all areas of work.

What the role involves

1. Ensuring that there are regular training opportunities for both new starters and those requiring refresher sessions or updates when new functions or forms are released. This will include running system training drop in sessions to assist with queries / hear feedback, and relaying information from these to the Information Governance and IT manager.

2. To support managing the case recording system help desk – so that support is always ava

ilable to front line workers and other stakeholders.

3. Working with the Learning and Development Coordinator to establish an evaluation method and implement this to enable us to assess the effectiveness of each training session and using this to improve future delivery.

4. Produce effective training materials and guidance documents, and develop and maintain a training area on our case recording system, including the creation of dummy forms and files for new users to access and use as a training sandbox

5. Performing case recording system changes to forms and lists as directed by the Information Governance and IT Lead

6. Support the Data Reporting and System Support Lead with regards to user administration and user support at times of absence and increased need

7. Working with the Learning and Development Coordinator to support the creation of e-learning training modules for our LMS (currently RISE) Acting at all times in line with safeguarding legislation and guidance in addition to Safer London’s practice guidelines and wider pan-London processes and protocols.

8. Undertaking any other duties as required and commensurate with the level of this post, including covering the Data Reporting and CRS support lead post functions when relevant.

You will bring strong prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to work dynamically and remain calm under pressure. You will demonstrate a solid understanding of safeguarding issues and the ability to address them effectively, while also supporting the induction of new peer staff and volunteers. Drawing on lived experience of mental health care pathways, you will have a deep understanding of the issues faced by individuals with a range of mental health conditions. You will know how to communicate effectively and provide support with dignity and respect, quickly building trust with service users, carers, and professionals. With well-developed listening and verbal communication skills, you will be able to engage appropriately with individuals in crisis, as well as statutory and voluntary agencies. Your knowledge of recovery tools, mental health and wellbeing services, and local support networks will allow you to assess needs, risks, and aspirations effectively, ensuring appropriate signposting and person-centred support.

Disability Advice Service Lambeth (dasl) is Lambeth’s peer-led Disabled People’s Organisation. 

We want a Welfare Benefits Caseworker to join our small but dynamic Advice team.  We hold the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) in the Welfare Benefits Casework Level category, and you will be integral to ensuring the ongoing quality of the service provided. You will also contribute to the exciting work that we do with other advice organisations, local MPs and councillors to influence change and policy in the social welfare system.
