The next CEO will be someone with a passion for the impact Pecan is delivering and a heart for relationship building; committed to making a difference in the lives of the disadvantaged in Peckham.

You will bring your dynamic leadership experience, ideally gained in the charity or not for profit sector, with a range of knowledge and skills across people management, strategy development, operational oversight, fundraising, governance and finance.  Your leadership, energy and care will enable staff and volunteers to be their best.

You will use your stakeholder and networking skills to connect with empathy with people from a wide variety of background and faiths, including staff, volunteers, clients of services, funders, other charities, member churches and other local stakeholders; in order to inspire support and strengthen purposeful collaboration.

You’ll have both a practical and strategic approach. You’ll bring the ability to be more hands-on in ensuring Pecan is working well operationally; plus take a deep and practical interest in the on-the-ground projects they run.  To complement this, you’ll be able to step back to see the strategic picture. You’ll bring vision and new ideas, combined with great listening skills, humility and the ability to unite stakeholders around the chosen direction.

Ideally, you’ll have a good understanding and experience of our Peckham community, but if not, you’ll bring a strong understanding of communities who may have a similar profile, with a commitment to get to know the community that Pecan serves.

As a Christian charity, there is a genuine occupational requirement in Pecan’s Articles for the CEO to be a Christian. Part of your role will be to nurture key relationships with local churches, so you’d be comfortable in a church context and to pray with and talk to them about opportunities to support the work of Pecan. You will also be able to lead a workforce of diverse faiths.

What we can offer you:

Salary: Circa £60,000 - £65,000 per annum, negotiable dependant on experience. Reviewed on an annual basis.

Location: Pecan, 121a Peckham High Street, London SE15 5SE. 

Some hybrid working available with a minimum of three to four days on site a week. Initially there may be more in person time required as you connect with colleagues and our impact services.

Hours of work: Your contracted hours are 36 hours per week. 

Pension: Pecan will provide a pension contribution of 8% of salary.

About the Project

Herts Mind Network (HMN) has formed a partnership with Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust (HPFT) to deliver a one-to-one outreach service for people who are in psychiatric hospitals across Hertfordshire.

About the Role:

The Bounce Back Worker will be based at Kingfisher Court or Albany Lodge and HMN Centres, promoting joint working between Kingfisher Court staff and HMN, creating a seamless pathway into community support for clients recovering from mental ill health.

The aims of the Bounce Back service are; to provide up to 10 sessions of emotional and practical support, advice and information to patients. We will visit patients on the ward and continue the sessions in the local community and in patient’s homes once discharged. We will facilitate a smooth and timely hospital discharge.

The recovery approach includes empathy, warmth, acceptance, authenticity, compassion and humanity.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive referrals from the ward teams at Kingfisher Court, Albany Lodge and other appropriate hospitals across Hertfordshire.
• Provide practical and emotional support to encourage patients to develop their independence within their local community.
• Facilitate a smooth discharge from hospital back to the community.
• Have a solid understanding on the dual effect of mental health and drugs and alcohol.
• Monitor outcomes and evaluate the service.
• Ensure that the safety and wellbeing of patients using the service is monitored and reviewed regularly.
• Embed a person centred and recovery orientated approach in all aspects of the roles and responsibilities.

The HIV Prevention Peer Project Lead will coordinate a team of workers in the delivery of an HIV prevention project in Southwark borough to increase uptake & awareness of HIV & sexual health testing, PrEP and HIV prevention strategies among Latin American (Spanish and Portuguese speaking) communities. The work involves mapping community locations conducting HIV Prevention outreach and testing and engaging community ambassadors from local Latin American-focused organisations and businesses.

The project aims to raise awareness about methods of HIV Prevention, as well as reduce HIV stigma alongside improving the general health and wellbeing for Latin American communities in Southwark. 

Programme 

The Southwark Latin Community HIV Prevention Project will deliver a targeted programme of outreach, engagement, and education to the Latin American community in Southwark. The programme will include street-based outreach with our community engagement bus, Point of Care HIV testing and PrEP awareness sessions in community spaces such as high streets, local markets, nightclubs, bars/restaurants, and local Latin support and social organisations. 

Role 

You will coordinate a small team of staff and volunteers to provide education, support and HIV testing and referral services to Latin Communities in Southwark. You will coordinate monthly outreach activities using our mobile community testing bus to deliver interventions that increase HIV and sexual health testing uptake, condom usage, PrEP awareness, HIV treatment adherence support and reduce HIV stigma. You will also deliver broader health advice, interventions, and referrals for Latin American populations, such as GP registration, blood pressure, blood sugar, weight management & smoking cessation. 

You will gather data from outreach and collate to create quarterly reporting for our funders. 

You will work with the METRO Comms team to develop promotional materials, create a social media impact, and establish service branding to support effective community engagement and service delivery. 

The post holder is required to be fluent speaker in English and Spanish and/or Portuguese.

The applicant would have the ability to drive our outreach bus (desirable but not essential). For this, our insurance requires that you be aged between 25 and 70 and that you have held a UK, Category B driving licence for 2 years.

About the Community Advice Team and the Role
Our Community Advice service is central to Citizens Advice Camden’s work, providing high-quality generalist advice to residents across a range of issues including benefits, housing, and employment. The team delivers support through face-to-face, telephone, video, and digital channels, and is strengthened by a committed group of volunteers and a collaborative working environment. 

As Advice Supervisor you will play a key role, along with our other supervisors, in maintaining and developing the quality of this service. You will supervise and contribute to the delivery of advice, ensuring we meet the targets and outcomes of our advice contracts and grant agreements. We are looking for someone with experience of delivering generalist advice and casework to a high standard, and the ability to support others to do the same. While we welcome experienced supervisors, we are also open to considering this as a development opportunity for an experienced adviser ready to take the next step in their career.
