This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a new and ambitious organisation, drive place-based change for Greenwich, and support community action and social justice across the borough.

Greenwich Giving is the new local giving scheme for the borough, launched in December 2024. Our mission is to inspire people who live and work in Greenwich to give – whether that’s expertise, time or money – to help shape their local spaces and to support Greenwich communities. Part of a network of place-based giving schemes across London, we connect people across the public, private and charity sectors to work in mutually beneficial partnerships. We believe in the power of local voices and connected communities to drive systemic change, particularly for those who are currently disenfranchised or vulnerable due to poverty and exclusion. 

We are recruiting a Board to help further our mission and navigate the transition (over the next 18 months) to Greenwich Giving becoming a registered and independent charity. As well as general board members, we are also recruiting for the specific roles of Chair and Treasurer.

About the role

As we establish our newly formed Property Sub-Committee, we are looking for a new Trustee to join our board and committee.

As a Trustee, this is an opportunity to be part of shaping ScotsCare’s vision.

Who we are looking for

We seek an individual passionate about supporting Scots in London with executive-level property experience to join our existing, skilled, and diverse team of Trustees.

Experience in property, asset management, estates management, housing and/or development or construction will be vital in ensuring the property strategy is congruent with strategic direction.

You will demonstrate an ability to provide constructive challenge, offering insights that support. Communication is key, so we are looking for a Trustee who is personable, approachable, and able to work seamlessly with our Chief Executive and property lead.

About Jabalie

Jabalie is a UK registered charity that aims to educate and empower survivors and individuals at high-risk of gender-based violence to promote their safety, autonomy and economic independence. Our vision is a world in which people of all genders are economically empowered, free from violence and abuse, and lead full lives with freedom and autonomy.

We are currently developing an education and empowerment programme for survivors of gender-based violence, to be delivered in the UK and Kenya.

Our name is derived from the word “Jabali” meaning “strong as a rock” in Swahili, symbolising  the strength of all those we work with.

Role description

The Board of Trustees plays a vital role in making sure that Jabalie achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that Jabalie has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision.

As a small and newly registered charity, our Trustees have an active role in the organisation relating to their area of expertise, beyond the Board meetings.

General Trustee Duties

The duties of a Trustee include:

• Attending and contributing at quarterly Trustee Board meetings.
• Ensuring that Jabalie pursues its stated objectives (purposes) defined in its Constitution, including helping to develop a long-term strategy to achieve them.
• Ensuring that Jabalie complies with its governing rules laid out in its Constitution.
• Ensuring that Jabalie complies with charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
• Ensuring the financial stability of Jabalie.

Philanthropy and Development

In addition to the general duties of a Trustee, duties of the Philanthropy and Development Trustee include the following:

• Developing and overseeing fundraising strategy with action plans, ensuring they align with Jabalie’s strategic goals and financial needs.
• Cultivating relationships with donors, funders, and key stakeholders to secure financial support and long-term commitments.
• Identifying opportunities to collaborate with businesses, foundations, and institutions for sponsorships, grants, and major gifts.
• Managing and maintaining data and information on potential opportunities and relationships for generating funds in a systematic way, such as using a CRM system.
• Working with the Marketing and Communications Trustee in developing initiatives and campaigns for fundraising and generating donations.
• Managing the planning and execution of fundraising initiatives, events and campaigns to engage the community and attract new supporters.
• Working with the Strategy and Impact Analysis Trustee in establishing and overseeing impact evaluation and performance metrics in alignment of funders’ requirements.
• Evaluating the level of success of the fundraising and donor engagement efforts, and providing feedback and data analysis that could shape future initiatives, events and campaigns.
• Ensuring fundraising efforts comply with relevant regulations and ethical standards, maintaining transparency and accountability.
• Acting as an ambassador for Jabalie, championing its mission and fostering philanthropic support through networking and public speaking (as required).

As a Volunteer Event Projects Coordinator, you will assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of various events and projects for RollaDome All Skate. You will work closely with the team to ensure events run smoothly, from conception to completion, while gaining valuable experience in event management and project coordination.

Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you! 

You can expect us to

• Make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
• Support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
• Cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• Provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
