An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Association of Colleges (AoC) in a new position of Director – Workforce Policy and Services. As the national voice for further education (FE) colleges in England, AoC represents and supports member colleges with professional services, advocacy, and sector leadership. We are a not-for-profit organisation established by colleges, for colleges – supporting over 95% of the sector, transforming 2.2 million lives each year.

This senior leadership role will oversee the strategic direction and delivery of AoC’s workforce function – including directing FE workforce policy, industrial relations and pay, employment advice, recruitment, and consultancy. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, the successful candidate will work collaboratively across the organisation and with key external stakeholders to promote and represent the employer interests of colleges across England.

We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong background in at least one area of the workforce remit, strategic insight, advocacy skills and a commitment to supporting colleges and their people. A deep understanding of the challenges facing the FE workforce and a collaborative, inclusive approach to leadership is essential. You will bring excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, strong strategic thinking, and the ability to drive service quality and innovation.

As Director, you will lead and manage a multi-functional team delivering high-quality workforce services and advice to colleges, ensuring these are responsive to sector needs. You will represent college employers in national pay negotiations and workforce policy development, oversee recruitment and consultancy services, and with your team drive policy influencing and evidence-based decision-making through strong stakeholder engagement and data insight. This is a varied and strategic role that combines leadership, sector advocacy, and operational oversight across FE employment and workforce priorities.

This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis. There will be regular travel to AoC’s national office in London and across the country to attend meetings and represent the organisation. Purpose of the job

Working across the Network Delivery Department, you will support the efficient day to day administration and co-ordination of the teams. About the Role

We are looking to hire a skilled and engaging Senior Education Officer to join a busy team, to further develop and implement an educational outreach programme which reaches children in Wales, Scotland and England. At present, this post has funding for three years from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, one year of which is now complete and we are looking to deliver the second two years of the project.

The purpose of the role is to extend the passion and knowledge of beavers into communities around Britain, to engage and enthuse young people and to reconnect (or reinforce) their love of nature. Using current materials and resources you will do so by delivering high-quality learning sessions within schools, community groups or virtual training sessions, sometimes delivered in conjunction with our beaver site partners and their education teams.

You will also be responsible for developing further aspects of the programme according to the requirements for each country and in partnership with relevant organisations

Key responsibilities include:

• Deliver a range of exciting, curriculum-linked workshops, talks, school and group sessions associated with beaver release sites.
• Network and build contacts and relationships with key personnel in schools, youth groups and community groups in order to create engagement with the education programme and expand its reach.
• Develop further resources and engaging activities or projects for group learning.
• Deliver standard level beaver ecology training to a range of age groups.
• Ensure the education programmes are up-to-date, accurate and complement the wider delivery of our mission.
• Monitor, collate and report on impact, working with the communications team to support the effective evaluation of our programme.
• Support volunteers and build capacity working with partner staff in the delivery of beaver education programmes.

Charity People are partnering with AdviceUK to help in their search for a passionate Press Officer to help them achieve their vision.

Contract: Permanent role
Salary: 28,733 plus Regional Weighting (up to £4,677 in London). All staff also receive £600 per year work from home allowance

Location: Hybrid role which will be predominantly home-based with some travel and meetings in London
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week with flexible working options fully supported

Core responsibilities within your role will be to:

• Work with the Head of Policy and Public Affairs to set up a new press office function for AdviceUK.
• Shape proactive, impactful media plans as well as responding to reactive media inquiries.
• Manage relationships with journalists and craft attractive copy for press releases and a range of other communications purposes.
• Support team members to identify media and communications opportunities related to their work.
• Brief and thoroughly prepare senior staff and AdviceUK members for appearances in broadcast media.
• Liaise with the marketing team to identify opportunities to promote policy and public affairs work through social media and other owned channels.

The purpose of this role is to support the policy and public affairs team to raise awareness of AdviceUK, their campaigns and the work of their members through the media. You will be an excellent communicator who can draft engaging copy for press releases and other media. You will be a fast learner, who can pick up new topics and issues with ease, and you'll be data-focused, able to use robust evidence to support press comments.

We would love to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

• Previous experience working in a press office environment, working on proactive and reactive comments and campaigns.
• Experience building contacts and relationships with journalists from a wide range of media outlets.
• Experience preparing senior staff for media appearances
• The ability to draft press releases and web copy on a range of issues
• A track record of delivering successful high impact press campaigns.
• Experience working sensitively with case studies and vulnerable individuals

We're seeking a dedicated Head of Reinvestment and Sustainability to join the St Mungo’s Assets team. This role is crucial in driving forward our investment and sustainability initiatives, ensuring our properties are safe, well-maintained, and ensuring compliance with PAS 2035 and relevant standards.

Reporting to the Director of Property Services, you will lead multiple improvement projects across our diverse housing stock. Your strategic and operational leadership will be key in delivering high-quality properties and improving the lives of our residents. You will work closely with internal teams, residents, and external partners to drive innovation and collaboration within the Reinvestment and Sustainability function.

Additional responsibilities in the role of Head of Reinvestment and Sustainability:

• Lead reinvestment, disposal, energy efficiency, building safety, sustainability, and planned maintenance programmes.
• Prepare capital budgets, revenue forecasts, and programme schedules.
• Oversee the design, procurement, and delivery of construction proposals for planned maintenance programmes.
• Develop effective relationships with partner organisations, including the GLA, Homes England, and Local Authorities.
• Manage projects and contracts for reinvestment and retrofit initiatives.
• Drive design excellence and contribute to policy development related to property design and sustainability.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory expectations in building and fire safety, landlord health and safety, and energy efficiency.

In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London or on site. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations. 

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Proven success in managing reinvestment and retrofit programmes with significant budgets, preferably in social housing or local authorities.
• Advanced knowledge of construction, JCT contracts, Building Regulations, and key legislation.
• Expertise in PAS 2035, ECO funding, SHDF, and energy efficiency schemes.
• Hands-on experience collaborating with Retrofit Coordinators, Assessors, and Designers to ensure best practices.
• Exceptional team leadership and staff management skills.
• Outstanding stakeholder engagement, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Sharp project management, negotiation, and influencing talents.
• Strong financial appraisal and risk management capabilities with a focus on efficiency.
• Relevant qualification (RIBA, RICS, CIOB) or equivalent experience in the built environment.
