Job Purpose

As BSR’s Head of Policy,  you will lead a portfolio of work that truly supports our members’ priorities and works towards creating the conditions that will enable rheumatology care across the UK to thrive and flourish. 

To excel in this role you will need to be comfortable working both at a strategic level and with detail and data. You will ensure BSR understands and responds to current and emerging needs in rheumatology practice, identifying gaps in quality, policy and research. You will develop BSR’s evidence and intelligence base about our members’ priorities, the state of rheumatology care across the UK and the challenges and opportunities in rheumatology. Through collaborating with colleagues you’ll help us ensure this insight informs our policy agenda, our strategic planning and operational decision making, ultimately achieving maximum possible impact in our work to drive-up standards in the delivery of rheumatology services and to inspire and activate changes that improve lives. 

Main responsibilities

• Leadership and management 
  • Work closely with BSR’s Senior Management Team to devise and deliver priorities for the portfolio, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and identifying opportunities to maximise impact  
  • Ensure that BSR’s decision making is informed by the best available and appropriate level of evidence by communicating strategic insights across the organisation  
  • Lead, coach and support team members and manage overall team capacity and resource planning 
  • Oversee contract and budget management for the team and across individual projects, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources 
  • Collaborate with the SMT and other teams to ensure integrated approaches to policy, communications, and member engagement 
  • Provide support and strategic insight to BSR working groups, including the Clinical Affairs Committee and MDT Advisory Council  
  • Develop strong relationships with members and stakeholders and represent BSR to external audiences.

  • Lead BSR’s policy agenda, supporting the Policy Manager to deliver policy analysis and development, produce high quality outputs and influence changes in policy and practice
  • Oversee a programme of proactive research, including data analysis and member engagement, to build a robust body of evidence and intelligence about the key issues impacting BSR members and rheumatology care across the UK 
  • Ensure that evidence, insight and analysis effectively informs BSR’s policy work, strategic planning and operational decision making   
  • Continuously monitor UK-wide policy and practice changes and assess their impact on the rheumatology community and patient care 
  • Ensure BSR’s members and senior leaders receive timely analysis of key policy and practice developments impacting rheumatology  
  • Develop, lead and support cross-team workstreams and projects that deliver on organisation-wide priorities.  
• Best practice and quality improvement 
  • Provide leadership to the National Early Inflammatory Arthritis Audit (NEIAA) team, supporting the team to deliver work to a high standard 
  • Engage members to develop BSR’s evidence base on good practice and quality improvement, and keep abreast of relevant external developments  
  • Provide expertise to colleagues on best practice and quality improvement, ensuring that insight and ambitions are effectively communicated and inform BSR’s policy work, strategic planning and operational decision making

Person Specification

1.  Significant experience in a senior policy, practice or programme management role in healthcare

The Role 

· Assertive outreach casework with very vulnerable women

· Responsible for supporting three women in the Borough of Camden

· Intensive support for complex needs with service users with a history of non-engagement with services

Accountabilities:

Casework

· Solution-focused casework interventions with women who have experienced VAWG and severe and multiple disadvantage

· Provide emotional support using a trauma informed approach

The Role: Family Co-ordinator (Domestic Abuse Lead)

This vital role leads the delivery of Home-Start Lambeth's domestic abuse work, with a particular focus on empowering survivors to recover and build brilliant new lives for themselves and their children. You will be responsible for managing and delivering the Freedom Programme, recruiting attendees, and continuously developing the program to meet the evolving needs of survivors. You will also oversee volunteer-delivered support to families in their homes to ensure it is targeted and effective in helping families achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

· Leading Domestic Abuse Support: Spearhead Home-Start Lambeth's domestic abuse initiatives, including the development and delivery of the Freedom Programme, ensuring it effectively supports survivors.

· Empowering Survivors: Facilitate recovery and growth for survivors of domestic abuse, helping them build a new life for them and their children.

· Family Assessment and Support: Assess the needs of referred families and oversee volunteer-delivered support to achieve family goals.

· Volunteer Management: Contribute to the recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing support and supervision of our brilliant volunteers.

· Safeguarding: Undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare and that of programme attendees.

· Partnership Working: Build effective relationships with referrers and other partners to promote Home-Start's services across the borough.

Job Purpose

The finance team is a core part of our Operations Directorate, and although we’re a small team we have a huge impact on the effectiveness of our organisation. The team provides support and guidance to all staff members on how to process invoices, expenses, and generally manage their budgets effectively. The main purpose of the Finance Officer role is to provide key support to the finance team with our finance processes, supporting staff members across the organisation, helping with any queries on a day-to-day basis, as well as supporting our members and suppliers with queries. The Finance Officer ensures all financial transactions are processed in accordance with BSR’s procedures and processes and in line with data protection regulations. 

You don’t need to have worked in the charity sector previously. Continual professional development is vital for us as a team, and so we’re happy to support you if you’re interested in completing a professional finance qualification.

Main Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger 

• Receive all supplier invoices (including member expenses), checking correct finance codes with relevant nominal, department, project, VAT and fund codes are on all invoices, and that the necessary authorisation is present 
• Scan and file all finance related documents (e.g. bank statements)  
• Set up fortnightly supplier payment runs for review by the Finance Manager

About the role 

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the Communications Officer supports the delivery of effective communications across the cycling industry and within Trust-led projects. As part of a collaborative team, you’ll contribute to a variety of initiatives, with a particular focus on maintaining and developing The Bikeability Trust’s industry website and newsletters for stakeholders and partners. 

You’ll be responsible for producing clear and engaging content, updating toolkits and resources, and supporting communications across different departments and projects as needed. 

This role involves communicating with a range of audiences—including grant recipients, training providers, instructors, and commercial partners—adapting your tone and messaging accordingly. You’ll offer guidance to colleagues and partners, help monitor the effectiveness of communications, and work closely with the wider team to support the Trust’s overall communications needs.

We are the Wandsworth representative of the national City of Sanctuary (CoS) charity. This project will support the committee and expand our activities in the voluntary and community sector and elsewhere to build commitment to Sanctuaries in the Borough. Wandsworth has a small but active network supporting refugees. The existing sanctuaries include a theatre, cafe and shop. Our Wandsworth libraries are en route to become sanctuaries and there is active interest from schools and faith groups. The contract is initially for 62 days over one year. Background to the project

The Project is supported by Wandsworth Council as a Borough of Sanctuary and by Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network (LRMN). Note that for the year 2025 Wandsworth is the London Borough of Culture.

Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees is a charity and operates primarily on a voluntary basis. We aim to make Wandsworth a welcoming place for those seeking sanctuary to feel safe, supported and part of our community.  WWR is part of the City of Sanctuary movement and is the accredited organization in Wandsworth. We work with voluntary and community sector (VCS) and other organisations to encourage and support those wishing to reach out to refugees. We liaise with those interested in finding out more, offering general support, offering general support, or seeking to become accredited with City of Sanctuary. 

Objectives of the project
The project will support the WWR committee activities and objectives. It will expand WWR reach and contacts in the VCS and other appropriate places and organisations. It will raise the profile of the sanctuary movement and encourage active participation by various organisations to create welcoming communities for people seeking sanctuary. Participation can range from an interest and small steps through to becoming accredited with City of Sanctuary.

Wandsworth and Sanctuaries
Sanctuaries include community groups, private organizations, public sector services, and individuals, united in their commitment to supporting those fleeing violence and persecution. Wandsworth is a Borough of Sanctuary, and the accredited organisations at present include a theatre, café and shop. Wandsworth libraries and some faith groups and schools are in the process of applying to become accredited. There is interest from other theatres, shops, sporting facilities and many others. 

Role of the Community Engagement Officer

• Assist the committee to increase its outreach and communication with interested organisations across the Borough

• Join monthly committee meeting to report and plan

• Meet and liaise with the key refugee support organisations in Wandsworth and a small number in other London boroughs 

• Organise an on-line Meet-Up for sharing and support ‘clinics’ (every 4-6 weeks); develop a launch for this event

• Liaise with the committee Events Group fundraising and events activities 

• Liaise with and include lived experience into outreach and activities (WWR has a small advisory group

• Liaise with committee members represented on the Council’s ‘Migration Forum’ 

• Liaise with the organisations accredited with CoS in Wandsworth: CoS asks accredited organisations share activities and learning

Day Care Officer – Day Care Centres 

Age UK Camden Day Care Centres are looking to recruit a Day Care Officer to cover  20 hours a week in shifts (4 x 5 hours) across our two Day Care Centres. 

There is a need to be flexible to be able to cover all days Monday to Friday and days are subject to change based on the rota. 

We are also looking to recruit a Day Care Officer on a 25 hour week for maternity cover on a fixed term contract starting on the 1st September 2025 for 39 weeks. 

Our Centres provide a wide range of activities as well as being a specialist Day Care Centres caring for older people with complex needs. The Day Care Centres also provide a hot lunch and a range of special events. We have a dedicated, specialist team supporting people with care needs, including those living with mild - moderate dementia and complex needs. 

The successful candidates will: 

• Have shared responsibility in the team for the implementation of a comprehensive service of care and support for service users 

• Act as a key worker for individual clients

• Deliver holistic and person centred wellbeing services which provide service users with social interaction and support to maintain their personal interests. 

Salary: Starting at SCP 4 £25,209.19 pa incl. London Weighting for 35 hpw - pro rata for part time which is £14,405.25 for 20 hours per week and £18,006.56 pa for a 25 hour week)
