We are seeking an experienced fundraiser who can work with us on a part time, freelance basis (Sept/Oct 2025 - January 2026) for a fee of £16Kto produce and undertake the following specialist services:

• Research and produce a bespoke 18-month Fundraising Plan for the Trust, with a particular focus on Museums, collections, community engagement, conservation and organisational resilience. 
• To start the delivery of the plan by undertaking specialist fundraising activities to trusts and foundations and to apply for opportunities that will help generate new incomes for the Trust and boost our ability to delivery our Business plan and Museum Developments. This will include a refreshed donations plan for our sites to come into action before Christmas.
• To advise and produce a business case for a long-term fundraising resource for the Trust.

About the Role

The Learning Support Team provides targeted support to young people, helping them develop core practical and academic skills, broaden their existing interests, and explore new ideas. In this role, you will deliver both group and one-to-one sessions, including tailored Maths and English tuition based on individual needs. You will work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure each young person has appropriate access to educational opportunities and engagement.

We believe that everyone has the right to learn in the way that suits them best—so there’s no such thing as a “typical” day in this role. Sessions can take place anywhere: from the beach to the kitchen, the garden, or even the gym. As with all our teams and services, the unexpected is part of everyday life—though with us, it can take many forms. The Detention Outreach Caseworker is a full-time post on a 12-month renewable contract, joining a small team at the JRS UK offices in Wapping, working closely with the Detention Outreach Manager.

The JRS UK Detention Outreach project supports individuals who are detained in the Heathrow Immigration Removal Centres (Harmondsworth and Colnbrook). This busy and varied role focuses on combining accompaniment, practical support, and assistance to those in immigration detention, especially those who are most vulnerable and struggle to self-advocate. The Detention Outreach Caseworker will make referrals to solicitors and partner organisations where appropriate and liaise with Immigration Services, detention centre staff and others as needed.

The Detention Outreach Caseworker will occasionally support individuals who are released from, but continue to be affected by, immigration detention. Through relationships built across the NGO sector, they will refer individuals to local organisations who can most appropriately assist with reintegration into the community. They will provide in-depth and pro-active support to high-need individuals supported in detention who continue to require long-term accompaniment on release.

The Detention Outreach Caseworker will be responsible for managing their own caseload and work closely with the Detention Outreach Manager to identify themes and trends arising from immigration detention to contribute to the organisations wider strategic work. The post-holder should have a good understanding of and empathy with the issues and challenges faced by asylum-seekers and refugees, with particular focus on immigration detention. They will need highly developed listening skills, personal resilience and emotional maturity to respond to the emotional and practical needs of asylum seekers, accompanying them and supporting them to positively progress with their lives. They need to have and maintain an up-to-date knowledge about the immigration and asylum context as it relates to our work in immigration detention.

This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain accurate records, and contribute to a positive team culture. The role holder will also liaise with internal and external stakeholders, helping to ensure that programme activities are well-organised, documented, and aligned with strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Management of logistics, including travel arrangements and staff accommodation
• Assisting in organising relevant programme and stakeholder meetings and events; team diary management internally and externally, helping to prepare and circulate meeting agendas, papers and minutes; managing meeting logistics.
• Managing regular team meetings, including scheduling, capturing notes/actions and supporting the team in tracking these to completion.
• Helping to prepare programme-related updates, reports and briefings for internal and external stakeholders. 
• Updating and maintaining databases and customer relationship management systems (CRMs), including Monday . com and Salesforce.
• Supporting the events team on an ad-hoc basis with event planning and logistics
• Wider TRF support where required, including supporting the delivery of the Carol Service

Relevant knowledge and experience

• Experience of a not-for-profit organisation or projects
• Previous experience of supporting projects and/or events
• Highly competent user of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Experience of working in a busy environment
• Experience of successfully dealing with stakeholders at different levels
• Ideally experience of, or willingness to learn, using database and email software e.g. Salesforce, Zkipster

The Candidate

The successful candidate will bring prior experience in a Personal Assistant role supporting multiple senior leaders. You will be highly organised, calm under pressure and adept at managing competing demands. Strong written and verbal communication skills, alongside excellent attention to detail and discretion in handling confidential matters, are essential.

You will be confident using Microsoft Office, diary and inbox management tools, and supporting hybrid meetings via platforms such as Zoom or Teams. The ability to work independently, use initiative, and demonstrate sound judgement is key. Experience in the non-profit or charity sector, and familiarity with tools like Salesforce or Cascade, would be advantageous but not essential.
