About the role
The Senior Media Officer is an important role in the media team. You will have responsibility for the development and implementation of a whole range of proactive media campaigns in support of our organisational strategy, and you’ll actively contribute to the successful running of our busy reactive press office. You will also deputise for the Media Manager as necessary.

As a Senior Media Officer, you will play a key part in the day to day running of a busy press office, and an active role in developing media campaigns and materials that meet the strategic needs of the whole organisation. Whether you are promoting our fantastic frontline services, collaborating with partners and income generating teams as part of our Winter Appeal, or leading the media strand of a political campaign, you will work in a truly integrated way with colleagues from across Shelter. Your enthusiasm, expertise, and collaborative approach to work will help to upskill other teams at Shelter to better understand and utilise the media to meet our shared goals.
Creative and results driven, you will have extensive knowledge of media tactics and techniques (traditional, digital, video, photography, podcasts etc), and your communication skills will be second to none. You will be able to translate complex research and policy into pithy soundbites and key messages suitable for public audiences. Given the news agenda rarely waits for anyone, you will be used to thinking on your feet and working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
You will be good at managing your own time and projects, but you will also have what it takes to support, enable and motivate others in the media team and across the organisation. A keen eye for risks and opportunities, and a strong attention to detail will help to ensure you and your colleagues deliver to a high standard. Finally, while prior knowledge of housing and homelessness is not a requirement, you will have a passion for social justice. Do you have significant experience of providing 1st and 2nd line support across a large multi-site organisation? Then join Shelter as an IT Service Desk Officer and you could soon be playing an important role within our IT Service Delivery team.
About the role
Very much a customer-facing role, we’ll rely on you to provide IT support in a professional manner and take responsibility for resolving calls within agreed SLAs. Day-to-day you’ll receive and accurately log service desk calls, provide initial troubleshooting and aim to achieve a first call resolution where possible. As well as managing and resolving multiple 1st and 2nd line support incidents you’ll also be expected to provide users with regular updates. In addition, all updates and closure details will need to be recorded using IT Service Management software and you’ll also be required to carry out some basic systems administration tasks.
Role specifics
Highly analytical and adept at providing good customer service, you’ll need a good level of technical understanding of PC desktop infrastructure, software applications, peripheral devices and account management. We’ll also be looking for great problem solving and logical troubleshooting skills. Experience of explaining technical issues to a non-technical audience is important too, as is an understanding and awareness of Incident Management techniques. And, because you’ll be dealing with a variety of people on a daily basis, you should be comfortable liaising at all levels and working as part of a team.

About the role
We’re looking for a Associate Director of Brand & Marketing Communications with excellent brand, marketing and digital experience at a leadership level to lead our Brand and Marketing Communications Team.

About the role
As a GROW Trainee, you will play an essential role in delivering Shelter’s purpose to defend the right to a safe home in East London. Our GROW Trainee will learn how to provide advice and advocacy to people experiencing the housing emergency and work alongside a team of advisors, solicitors, support workers and managers who work together to give communities easier access to support and advice. The successful candidate will be given extensive training, support, and supervision to support them to achieve this. They will also have access to a flexible personal budget to help in your own personal and professional development.
The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to community hub priorities and be involved in systems change work in the area.
The GROW trainee programme includes opportunities to get involved in developing services in London and across Shelter at a national level, using your experiences to influence our local strategic aims.
About you
We are looking for people who have experience of overcoming personal challenges and barriers and who are passionate about using their own life experiences to help make positive change for others. Good communication skills and the ability to make people feel heard will also be essential. BACKGROUND
Church of England Birmingham (CofEB) is on a journey of growing churches at the heart of every community. Through this we are seeing growth in many exciting ways. Financially we are at a challenging point. We have had an operational deficit for a number of years and this cannot continue. There are current conversations happening with the National Church around how we get to a sustainable platform through partnership. One key aspect of this is for us to increase our Common Fund returns (the giving from our parishes that supports the costs of our life together). We are taking a radical new approach to our finances which includes intentional reallocation of income to support the costs in our most economically deprived parishes and deeper relationships with each parish around finance through conversation rather than correspondence. Over the next five years we are hoping to be able to move to a financially sustainable platform which will enable us to better serve our communities in the future.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We need a Head of Generosity to lead the team, and project, that will focus on developing long term relationships with all of our parishes leading to:
- Greater support for our parishes.
- Increased generosity by, and within, our parishes.
- Increased Common Fund.
A steering Group has been established, which the Head of Generosity will be a part of, to plan, design and implement the activities needed to deliver our vision. Through partnership with the National Church we are expecting that there will be four members of this Generosity Team.
This role, and the team, will need to work closely with Archdeacons and Area Deans, Directors of Mission, Ministry and Finance (and their teams), the Head of Communications and many others. We have one strategy and this is a part of that so needs to link well with all other parts.
The Head of Generosity will also be Bishops Advisor for Common Fund. Bishop Michael is passionate about supporting our parishes and seeing Common Fund increase and this role will both channel his desire to parishes and help reflect what is learnt back to the Bishop as we progress.
The post holder will have the support of the National Giving Team who have extensive experience and resources to support those responsible for giving and generosity. They will also be given access to a strong and growing national network of people in similar roles. Their experience has proven invaluable to people in roles similar to this, building on best practice and learning from others across 41 Dioceses.
The role will have the following key responsibilities:
- Support in the recruitment and the establishment of the Generosity Team.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the members of the Generosity Team.
- Support the delivery design of this project and deliver the actions agreed by the Steering Group.
- Lead on Parish engagement across all areas of generosity, including the spiritual / theological nature.
- Appropriately discern and allocate team members to support different phases of the process and the different and wide-ranging developmental needs of parishes.
Through the team:
- Create a bespoke multi year plan for Common Fund with every parish with key stakeholders including Archdeacons.
- Provide consultancy, resources, and hands-on support to parishes to grow regular giving, legacies, and other forms of financial support. This work will be able to draw on the resources developed by the national church as well as the data held on their Cornerstone Platform. The post-holder will be expected to engage in the work of the National Giving Team as part of the development of these wider resources.
- Develop and deliver training for clergy, lay leaders and PCCs, on financial management and giving and generosity with the Ministry team.
- Encourage and assist parishes in the implementation of the Parish Giving Scheme, introduction of contactless giving mechanisms and related diocesan initiatives.
- Source, develop and curate practical resources (digital and print) to support local stewardship campaigns and initiatives.
- Evaluate the impact of stewardship and generosity initiatives and adapt strategies accordingly to achieve the project outcomes.
- Create compelling communication tools that articulate the impact of generosity with our communication team.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven leadership experience preferably in financial management, fundraising, or stewardship within a faith-based or nonprofit organisation.
- Strong understanding of church governance structures and financial operations and requirements.
- Knowledge of generosity principles and Christian financial stewardship.
- A prayerful Christian with a deep commitment to the Church’s mission (Genuine Occupational Requirement).
Essential Skills & Attributes:
- Resilient and adaptable, able to handle challenges and maintain momentum in a demanding role.
- Strong people skills, able to engage effectively with parishes and church communities.

- Local presence is essential—the role must be delivered in an incarnational way, engaging directly with communities.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The post-holder will be employed by the Diocesan Board of Finance for five years.
Salary and Pension: Salary of £48,000 plus membership of the Church Worker’s Pension Scheme with 12% employer contribution. We are open to discussion especially if you are ordained and are moving out of parish ministry.
Hours: Full-time 35 hours (5 days) per week. Weekend and evening work will be required, for which the equivalent time may be taken back from standard working hours. We are happy to consider requests for flexible working, and please do mention in your application if you would be interested in looking at alternative working hours.
Holidays: 5 weeks per year plus Bank Holidays and 3 Discretionary Days between Christmas and New Year

Working arrangements

About you
With previous service desk experience, having working in the SD environment previously, you'll have excellent customer service and communication skills, being used to working in a busy service desk team. You'll also have excellent telephone and customer handling skills to back up your technical and fault diagnosis experience.
You’ll have strong troubleshooting skills, keeping the Customer informed of progress against their respective issues, ensuring an effective follow-up to ensure all service has been delivered and completed to the Customer's satisfaction.
With good knowledge of Windows OS (Win 10 and above), you’ll also have knowledge of LAN/WAN networking essentials and extensive experience of MS Office suite of Applications (2010 and above). You’ll have previous experience with administration of Users within Active Directory and Remote Support Tools (i.e. VNC, RDP etc.).
You'll have good knowledge of ticket and case management techniques, able to manage your own queues and workload to meet demand. You’ll be able to remain calm and focused, and will have strong organisational skills, able to use prioritisation and escalation techniques, and able to develop strong working relationships with the team and contacts across the organisation.

Working together with your client, you will map out and agree a set of interventions and the outcomes needed, encouraging and empowering them to actively contribute towards their goals.
You will carry a fluctuating case load of service users with varying levels of needs. The focus of the service is to support the desistance model, supporting individuals to achieve their full potential.
The position will be based in Lincoln Probation, with other locations and travel expected when needed across the National Probation Service Region in Lincolnshire.
About You
You have considerable experience of advocating for clients to agencies and authorities and have a track record of successful outcomes and challenging when needed. You can adapt complex information into practical plans and proactively manage your caseload. The Forward Trust services which are delivered within Welsh prison settings are commissioned by Ministry of Justice and are delivered in partnership with HMPPS prison and probation colleagues and G4s prison colleagues and HMPPS Probation resettlement colleagues at HMP Parc. Integration and partnership are integral to the work we do.

Role Responsibilities
Working in HMP Cardiff, HMP Swansea with occasional need to attend HMP Parc, the postholder will mainly be co-located with Probation resettlement colleagues and working directly with service users on the wings within the prison and also providing face to face housing interventions premises when required.
In this role you will be delivering Housing focused interventions to improve housing opportunities and play a key role in homelessness prevention for men on probation. In order to achieve sustainable housing outcomes you will ensure that a holistic assessment of need is completed with onward referrals to specialist services made for any identified need
