We are seeking an experienced Executive Assistant who has supported at a senior level to join a respected not-for-profit organisation. Key Duties

• Extensive Diary and Inbox management
• Being a gatekeeper for the director and triaging their inbox

About the Role:
 
As our Legacy Officer, you will play a vital role in administering UK and international legacy gifts, from notification to final distribution, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely processing. You'll help support income forecasting, estate reviews, and reporting to inform strategic decisions. Working closely with the Legacy Administrator, Legacy Marketing Manager, and global fundraising teams, you'll help integrate legacy administration with broader fundraising goals.
 
The role also involves building strong relationships with executors, solicitors, and international colleagues. For candidates working above 0.6 FTE (22 hours per week), the role will also support legacy marketing campaigns and international programme development.
 
About You:
 
To be successful as our Legacy Officer, you will ideally have experience in UK legacy administration, with the ability to manage a complex caseload efficiently and in line with legal and organisational policies. Strong analytical and forecasting skills, attention to detail in reporting, and excellent written and verbal communication are essential. You should be confident working within a global organisation, with an understanding of cross-cultural dynamics and regional legal frameworks. You'll have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with executors, solicitors, and internal and external stakeholders is key.
 
Experience in international legacy administration or marketing would be an advantage, as would familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce or First Class.

Job Summary

We’re looking for an experienced and forward-thinking finance leader to play a central role in shaping the future of the finance team at St John Ambulance. About the Role

• Lead statutory and management reporting: Oversee the production of audited statutory financial statements and timely completion of the external audit. Ensure best practice in external financial reporting and take full responsibility for the accuracy and delivery of monthly management accounts.
• Own cash flow and balance sheet management: Lead the preparation of the charity’s monthly rolling cash flow forecast and ensure full ownership of the balance sheet, including timely and accurate reconciliations.
• Strengthen financial controls and working capital: Ensure effective financial processes and controls within transactional teams to manage working capital and drive continuous improvement in financial operations.
• Oversee compliance and tax: Identify, manage and control financial risks, including tax compliance. Provide expert technical accounting advice and ensure the charity remains fully compliant in all taxation matters, including VAT and gift aid.
• Drive counter fraud and governance improvements: Act as the financial lead for the charity’s control environment and counter fraud framework. Champion improvements in fraud awareness, culture, and control.
• Manage key external relationships: Serve as the main contact for the charity’s bankers and investment managers, and act as secretary to the Finance Committee and Investment Advisory Group.
• Optimise treasury and investment performance: Lead treasury activities to maximise returns on working capital and investments, ensuring alignment with the charity’s strategic objectives.

About this exciting opportunity

Working as part of a multi-agency team, you will provide person-centred support to a caseload of service users who will either be serving community sentences or being released from prison.  You will undertake assessment and action planning with individual service users, create a safe and trusting environment, using trauma-informed practice to successfully facilitate a supportive and constructive relationship with service users, plus deliver a range of interventions to service users which contribute towards achievement of prescribed outcomes.

We will also count on you to develop and maintain positive working relationships with external agencies, including probation, prisons, partners, and others who will assist in achieving prescribed outcomes for service users, ensuring you work towards contractual targets and outcomes within agreed timescales.  Using agreed CRM databases and recording all activity relating to caseload and providing updates and reports are also key duties.

What we are looking for

• Experience working with partner agencies either as part of a multi-agency team working towards common objectives or negotiating to establish links to further the aims of a project
• L3 in Advice and Guidance or equivalent (desirable)
• The ability to assess clients’ needs and provide tailored, client-led support through action planning and interventions involving advice, guidance, advocacy, and coaching
• An ability to work sensitively with clients applying trauma-informed strategies
• Impressive IT, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Are you passionate about international development and ensuring marginalised communities are able to access global health services? Do you want to be instrumental in ending one of the world’s most ancient diseases? Are you able to walk alongside our partners, across Africa and Asia, offering prayer, compassion and technical support, as they strive to transform the lives of some of the world’s most marginalised people? Is God calling you to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and serve those affected by leprosy?

Today, one person every two minutes is diagnosed with leprosy. It’s a disease of poverty, striking the most vulnerable. Left untreated, it causes permanent disability. Stigma means that people affected by this disease are often rejected by those closest to them and excluded from basic services. 

Within our dynamic programmes team, you’ll be working alongside supportive colleagues who are passionate about ending leprosy and transforming lives. We have a culture of learning and growing together and will provide training in best practice, ensuring excellence in all we do. You will have at least three years’ work experience in an international development programming role or similar setting (ideally in the global South), with a degree in a relevant discipline. You will have monitoring, evaluation and research skills, with the capacity to work on your own initiative and will be an excellent cross-cultural communicator. We are particularly interested to hear from people with expertise in disability services, public health, research, quality assurance, or social enterprise development. However, those with experience in community development and working in fragile states would also be most welcome to apply.

You will be responsible for the development of UK-funded programmes, supporting the capacity development of overseas partners and managing income streams from large donors. In addition, you will champion our work on the global stage and engage in national and global advocacy on Neglected Tropical Diseases (including leprosy), global health and disability issues. This will require travel overseas for approximately eight weeks per year.

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we reopen services that unfortunately closed due to the pandemic. As a coordinator, you will focus and lead on developing and delivering our community service across the East Riding of Yorkshire through drop-ins offering:

• practical hearing aid support
• information on hearing loss and tinnitus
• hearing checks

You will be responsible for co-ordinating up to 15 drop-in services and be able to recruit, train and manage a team of up to 30 volunteers to deliver the service across the county of East Riding.

You will: 

1. Coordinate our volunteering team to deliver a high level of service at our RNID Near You drop-in sessions.
2. Recruit volunteers across the East Riding of Yorkshire to strengthen existing sessions and open new sessions as required.
3. Work with NHS audiology to induct and train our volunteers to high standards.
4. Promote our sessions to ensure maximum engagement from local hearing-aid users.
5. Ensure all paperwork is processed correctly and reports to stakeholders are timely completed.

You want to make a difference in people’s lives and love to interact with various audiences, including volunteers, health & care professionals, and service users. You have experience managing your own workload and are able to work flexibly when required. You can motivate volunteers to assist clients with hearing aids sensitively, to give clear guidance and take into account individual wishes and health needs.

You are ready to work for a home-working organisation and have good IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications including Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word. You will be able to recruit, train and manage a team of volunteers and deliver an excellent service across East Riding of Yorkshire. While home based, regular travel to venues where we provide drop-in sessions will be required.

UK Reads is seeking dynamic, passionate, and engaging Literacy Workshop Facilitators to join our team. As a Literacy Facilitator, you will be responsible for delivering inspiring and interactive literacy workshops to children and young people in schools and community settings across London, with a particular focus on East London.

Our workshops are designed to support key literacy skills including reading comprehension, vocabulary building, performance, creative thinking, imagination, communication, and - above all -the joy of reading. Sessions are child-centred, adaptable, and responsive to the needs of different schools and learners. Activities include interactive storytelling, games, drama-based literacy, and imaginative writing tasks that spark curiosity and build confidence.

Facilitators will also help deliver our whole-class or group Pen Pal Project—a volunteer-driven initiative that engages pupils in the power of letter writing. This project amplifies young voices, nurtures connection through communication, and encourages writing for authentic purposes. It is designed to help children fall in love with writing while developing empathy and self-expression and connecting them to peers in other countries.

This is a flexible freelance position with workshop opportunities varying monthly. Facilitators must reside in London and be available to travel across the city. A willingness to travel outside of London for special sessions or events is an advantage.

Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest, working in partnership with Turning Point and Antidote, provide the City and Hackney Recovery service.
