We’re searching for an entrepreneurial and strategic Head of Commercial Ventures to build and lead our first commercial strategy, growing innovative ventures that balance financial sustainability with social impact.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Lift Schools’ commercial enterprise strategy. About the role

As Head of Commercial Ventures, you will:

• Develop and deliver Lift’s first commercial enterprise strategy, aligned to our educational mission
• Grow and optimise existing ventures such as estate lettings and apprenticeship provision
• Identify and build new market opportunities — products, services and partnerships across the education and wider sector
• Lead development of business models, pricing strategies, go-to-market plans and commercial governance frameworks
• Establish systems, processes and performance metrics to ensure all commercial ventures are sustainable, ethical, and aligned with our educational purpose

County Lines is a phenomenon in which criminal drug dealing operations are expanding their operations outside of the larger cities, taking over drug markets in smaller towns. Gangs target vulnerable children and young people and coerce them to transport and distribute mainly Class A drugs into areas where there is less police presence, less competition and high demand for their product.

About this exciting opportunity

This pivotal role will see you referring clients, with reference to St Giles Trust/Rescue and Response assessment practices. You will also need to produce support plans and risk management and planning process, and to include appropriate agencies in the delivery of the service.

You will also deliver a holistic support service, working independently or with colleagues, which will include providing social and housing support, education, training and employment options, benefits work, debt advice, and appearing in court. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with regional agencies including police and social services is a key aspect of the role.

What we are looking for:

• Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group and/or experience of working with ‘high risk’, vulnerable children, young people and/or families
• Experience of engaging successfully with ‘challenging’ young people
• Substantial experience of providing support, advice and advocacy and communicating effectively, the needs of clients to other professionals
• Strong IT skills, particularly MS Office, and the ability to work with a case database
• The ability to use and develop monitoring systems to record all aspects of the project
• Knowledge of and commitment to safeguarding practices and policies, and ability to promote safeguarding among vulnerable clients and colleagues.

The team

You’ll join our International Energy Access team, primarily working on the multimillion-pound Efficiency for Access Coalition including the Low Energy Inclusive Appliances (LEIA) programme that aims to double the efficiency and halve the cost of off- and weak-grid appliances in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. This programme is funded by UK aid, from the UK government via the Transforming Energy Access platform, and IKEA Foundation, and delivered by Energy Saving Trust in partnership with CLASP.

As part of the International Energy Access team, you’ll contribute to meaningful initiatives that have real-world impact on improving lives and livelihoods, while helping to address the climate emergency. • Lead the planning, delivery and reporting of our Energy Access research portfolio.

The Role

As part of our mission, FareShare Midlands is delighted to be able to deliver our I-Can employability programme as part of Birmingham City Council’s PURE project. The PURE Project is funded by the government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The programme will provide a range of wellbeing, training and employment support to vulnerable residents of Birmingham in order to improve their lives and move them closer to the jobs market.

Main duties include

• Attend outreach events to promote the I-Can programme
• Respond to new referrals in a timely and professional manner
• Manage registration appointments
• Register new participants in line with contractual and audit purposes
• Carry out initial assessment interviews
• Establish suitable outputs and outcomes for participants based on individual needs
• Allocate participants to appropriate Employability Coach
