The Head of Nursing and Quality is a senior strategic and operational leader within The Children’s Trust, responsible for delivering the highest standards of nursing, clinical care, safety, and clinical governance across the organisation. Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing and Quality, the postholder provides professional leadership for the nursing and care workforce, oversees the day to day clinical management of the organisation and deputises for the Director of Nursing and Quality / Registered Manager as required.

This role ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory frameworks, including CQC, OFSTED Care, National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes, and national patient safety requirements, while fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and improvement. The postholder will lead on the development of evidence-based practice, ensuring services are safe, equitable, responsive, and aligned with The Children’s Trust’s strategic objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Professional Practice

• Provide highly visible, credible leadership to nursing and care teams across the organisation.
• Act as a key delegate and deputy for the Director of Nursing and Quality / Registered Manager.
• Champion a culture that promotes safe, equitable, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
• Ensure children, young people, and families are meaningfully involved in shaping service delivery and evaluating their experience.
• Lead the development and delivery of organisational initiatives, contributing to strategic objectives, the business plan, and the organisational dashboard.
• Proactively network externally to promote the organisation’s clinical and professional profile.

Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance

• Ensure full compliance with CQC, OFSTED Care, National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes, NMC standards, and other applicable legislation.
• Lead audits of CQC and Ofsted standards, identifying gaps and implementing robust action plans.
• Assist in the continued development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective organisation-wide clinical governance framework.
• Jointly coordinate the completion of the annual Quality Account.
• Lead clinical policy development, ensuring all clinical policies are evidence-based, current, and understood by staff.

 Patient Safety, Clinical Risk and Incident Management

• Lead a culture of transparency, learning, and continuous improvement within the Nursing and Care directorate.
• Implement and oversee the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and annual associated plan alongside the Head of Clinical Governance.
• Ensure timely review and oversight of incident reporting, risk assessments, serious incident investigations, and associated actions.
• Promote and strengthen organisational processes for identifying, mitigating, and monitoring clinical risks.
• Communicate themes and learning from incidents across the organisation.

Workforce Leadership, Development and Management

• Provide professional leadership to nursing, care, safeguarding, respiratory, pharmacy, clinical governance and clinical education teams.
• Line manage: Business Support Manager, Senior Clinical Lead, Lead Respiratory Nurse and three house managers, and associated teams.
• Ensure robust workforce planning, including appropriate skill mix and safe staffing.
• Lead recruitment and retention strategies for nursing and care services in partnership with the People Team.
• Ensure regular, high-quality clinical supervision, appraisal, and professional development opportunities.
• Oversee NMC revalidation processes and compliance with professional standards.
• Build high-performing teams through motivation, recognition, coaching, and consistent performance management.

Nursing and Care Leadership

• Provide strategic leadership for the nursing and care education team and line manager this through the Senior Clinical Lead.
• Ensure a safe and effective education provision aligned with national standards and NMC, and other regulatory requirements.

Safeguarding

• Ensure strong collaboration with safeguarding professionals ensuring safeguarding governance, policy implementation, training compliance, and multi-agency collaboration.
• Provide senior oversight of safeguarding concerns, investigations, and learning in conjunction with the Director of Nursing and Quality, and wider safeguarding team.

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)

• Provide leadership for infection prevention and control, ensuring compliance with national guidelines.
• Monitor infection data, oversee IPC audits, and initiate improvement strategies.
• Promote best practice in all clinical and residential settings.

Documentation, Information Management and Digital Systems

• Ensure safe, accurate and secure medical and care records, with regular audit for compliance.
• Maximise use of digital systems to support clinical decision-making, documentation, and governance.
• Ensure clear, consistent standards for record-keeping across all clinical and care areas.

Resource, Budget and Performance Management

• Hold delegated responsibility for staffing and non-staffing budgets across nursing, care, and residential services.
• Lead capital and equipment planning to ensure all clinical environments are safe and fit for purpose.
• Review and ensure effective skill mix and resource allocation.
• Set SMART objectives for direct reports and monitor performance through structured quarterly reviews.

Senior Leadership and Organisational Responsibilities

• Serve as a critical member of the Nursing and Care Senior Leadership Team.
• Participate in the senior site manager weekend rota.
• Communicate organisational messages effectively and relay staff feedback to senior leaders.
• Undertake additional duties aligned with the role’s scope and organisational requirements.
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations and The Children's Trust policies.

Education:

• Registered Nurse.
• Leadership / management qualification.
• Master’s degree in relevant subject.

• Experience of working with children and families with complex health needs.

As our Finance Business Partner you will regularly support and advise UK team leaders and senior managers to review financial aspects of their financial performance and plans, working closely with People, Finance & IT, Policy and Campaigns, and parts of the international programmes directorates. 

• Regularly advise UK team leaders and senior manager to review financial aspects of their operational plans.

• Continue to develop the systematic forecasting process for departments and ensure robust 3 year financial plans are implemented 

• Support strategic decision making on long term financial plans and modelling, supporting WAUKs 10 year strategy 

• Develop enhanced self-service reporting relevant at budget holder and department level that supports optimal decision-making 

• Create efficient finance processes that best deliver the needs of the organisation

Requirements

To be successful, you will need: 

• Completed a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA). 

• Experience of formulating, overseeing and reporting on operational plans, including KPIs. 

• Demonstrable innovative ability; using data and insight to inform recommendations for improvements to products, processes or activities. 

• Proven experience of using insight and analysis to provide trends, inform and drive business decisions. 

• Keen interest in information systems, ability to learn new systems quickly. 

• Experience of accounting for restricted funds, preferably in an international organisation. 

• Adaptability to build effective working relationships with both finance and non-finance colleagues and work in a collaborative way. 

• Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and co-ordinate multiple tasks and confident to work independently. 

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

We work hand-in-hand with healthcare partners to ensure every service user receives holistic, person-centred support.

What You’ll Do

As our Peer Supporter Lead, you’ll be the driving force behind peer-led, lived-experience initiatives across the prison. Your role will include:

• Recruiting, training, and supervising peer supporters and mentors
• Empowering peer supporters to deliver interventions and wellbeing initiatives across all prison wings
• Promoting engagement in recovery pathways and strengthening service-user involvement
• Building effective links between the substance misuse service, healthcare teams, prison staff, and service users
• Supporting the continued development of the Peer Supporter programme in partnership with healthcare providers

Rare Dementia Support (RDS) is a UCL-led collaborative service offering specialist social, emotional, and practical support services for individuals living with, or affected by, a rare dementia diagnosis. Our vision is for all individuals with, at risk of or supporting someone with one of these forms of dementia to have access to information, tailored support and guidance, and contact with others affected by similar conditions.

RDS is provided by the UCL Dementia Research Centre (DRC) within the Department of Neurodegenerative Disease at the Queen Square Institute of Neurology and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

This is an essential, on-site post within the new Rare Dementia Support Centre (RDSC). You will be involved in the management and smooth running of all aspects of the Centre. You will report directly to the Centre Director, Professor Sebastian Crutch and will work closely with other members of the RDS/RDSC Executive team (Head of Support Services and Governance Lead).

The post is available immediately and funded by a donation from the UCLH charity until 31 October 2026 in the first instance.

The main purpose of the role is to prepare individuals to move on to independent living in the community. Service users may step down from the intensive support service to high, medium or lower needs before moving into the community. You work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to support and induct new peer staff and volunteers. Make a difference in your community

We’re looking for a Development Co-ordinator to help shape and deliver a vibrant programme for older Nepalese women (50+) in Greenwich. This is a hands-on role focused on improving health and wellbeing, reducing isolation, and strengthening access to community and mainstream services.

You’ll work directly with women from the local Nepalese community to design and deliver meaningful activities, build trusted relationships, and ensure the programme reflects the voices and needs of those taking part.

What you’ll be doing

Developing and delivering the programme

• Plan and run weekly group sessions, monthly outings, an annual health event, and an Advisory Group

• Co-produce health and wellbeing activities with participants, volunteers, and partners

As a recently-established family foundation, Bird Song Trust awards grants totalling between £2.5m and £4m annually, with room to grow. Motivated by a strong Christian faith, the founders are passionate about seeing thriving families equipped to break cycles of deprivation, and building greater understanding of eating disorders to improve treatment and support.

We are seeking a strategic and relational Grants Manager to help take the Trust into its next stage of implementation and growth. Acting as second-in-command to the Director, you'll manage grants across the portfolio with a particular focus on the deprivation programme, which funds organisations supporting families, tackling homelessness and preparing young people for valuable roles in society.

In this influential role, you'll support the Director in developing grant making strategy, research organisations and assess applications, and monitor existing grants making recommendations for continuation or termination. You'll produce board papers and presentations, supervise the Grants Officer overseeing the Eating Disorders programme, and promote the Trust's founding Christian ethos by representing them at events and supporting Christian grantees. Because the Trust is fully funded, you'll have the opportunity to support projects at the cutting edge or in areas other funders aren't focusing on.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice helps babies, children and young people who are seriously unwell, and their families, make the most of every day. The charity aspires to become a centre of clinical excellence for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

We’ve been on a major upward trajectory in recent years, with more children being supported, more major hospitals being partnered with and more supporters donating. We’ve transformed from being an enthusiastic start-up delivering care in the community, to a serious player delivering major impact both in the community and at our state-of-the-art hospice building, The Ark, opened in 2019.

Philanthropy, which covers Grants, Trusts & Foundations and Major Donor fundraising streams, is pivotal to Noah’s Ark, typically accounting for around 50% of the charity’s voluntary income. This is an area of real expertise for Noah’s Ark, with much scope for further refining. The successful candidate will therefore be instrumental in taking this key income stream forward, add to an exciting portfolio and gain further training and support, working as part of a high-performing and super supportive team, ready for its next development phase.

The Grants, Trusts & Foundations Manager will work closely with and report to the Head of Philanthropy to develop the Trust pipeline, along with instrumental cross-team work on applications and reporting processes for other income streams. Whilst we work towards developing a more diverse funding model and navigate changes to the external Trust environment, sustaining and growing income from Trusts will remain vital.

The post-holder will manage a Philanthropy Officer (Trusts & Major Donors) and, together, they will be instrumental in taking the Trust programme to the next level, establishing lasting relationships with funders, securing new grants, increasing multi-year gifts and improving both quality and volume of applications and reports. They will also support the Philanthropy Officer, and the wider team, to the same end with their respective portfolios.
