Many families we work with also struggle with hunger, grief and anxiety, and just don’t know where to turn for support. Our volunteers are a lifeline to hundreds of families each year, offering one-to-one home-visiting and a wide range of support for parents to ensure that their children have the best start in life. We are seeking a Volunteering and Engagement Coordinator to recruit and develop a diverse team of volunteers, to support our work with families in Barnet, Brent and Harrow.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, forward thinking change-maker to test new approaches to engaging with local communities and potential volunteers. You will understand the importance of brand and positive messaging, and will be able to use a variety of techniques including social media to promote volunteering opportunities to different communities of interest.

Additionally, the postholder will be an inclusive and engaging communicator, with the ability to build supportive relationships with a diverse group of volunteers. The postholder will ensure that volunteers receive training, development and supervision to support the families we work with, and that high standards of practice are maintained. You will promote initiatives to increase the retention of existing volunteers and ensure that they are recognised and rewarded for their work.

The work requires a combination of field-based community engagement and training in Barnet, Brent and Harrow and regular days in the office which is in Finchley, Barnet.

About Dravet Syndrome UK

Dravet Syndrome UK (DSUK) is a small independent UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by Dravet Syndrome. Dravet Syndrome is a rare neurological condition that affects around one in every 15,000 people in the UK. As well as experiencing severe, difficult-to-control seizures, children and adults with Dravet Syndrome have varying degrees of intellectual disability and a spectrum of associated conditions (known as ‘comorbidities’), which may include autism, ADHD, behaviours that challenge and difficulties with speech, mobility, eating and sleep.

The charity was founded in October 2008 by a small group of 30 families. Today, DSUK is a registered charity helping over 550 families with support, education, and research programmes, underpinned by a world-class Medical Advisory Board.

What you will bring

Essential

· Demonstrable experience in planning and delivering engaging and targeted social media content to build community, raise awareness and drive engagement.

· Hands-on experience managing websites (using WordPress), delivering e-marketing campaigns (e.g. Mailchimp or similar), and applying SEO principles and other techniques to optimise digital communications and online visibility.

· Demonstrable experience in media relations, including writing press releases, working with case studies and successfully pitching and responding to a range of media (online, press, radio, broadcast)

· Demonstrable experience of working in charity, patient advocacy or healthcare sectors

· Ability to deal with people at all levels with empathy, tact and credibility

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to distil large amounts of information and present it in engaging and innovative ways for a variety of audiences

· Demonstrable design skills and knowledge of desktop publishing software e.g. using Canva to create in-house designs for social media and our website

· Act as a brand guardian, ensuring external designers and agencies understand and apply our brand, visual identity, and corporate communications guidelines effectively

The Role

We have an ambitious membership growth target of 20%. In order to achieve this we need to be setting up new groups across the UK at scale. We have recently changed our marketing approach and are able to generate high volumes of high-quality enquiries.  But we have lots of areas without groups or with groups who are full and not able to accept new members.  We therefore need someone to take charge of setting up new groups at scale, ensuring the process for doing so is robust and streamlined.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will manage the end-to-end new group set up process:

• Identify geographical location for new group – based on no existing groups in area, local groups being full and/or volunteer availability  
• Source local volunteers and work with them to get new groups up and running
• Help them to identify suitable venue and time for first meeting and free and low cost opportunities to promote new groups in local area
• Work with Social Media Assistants to execute local level organic digital outreach via community Facebook groups and websites
• Outreach to local social prescribers to encourage them to signpost to NWR
• Source volunteers to distribute printed marketing assets within local community
• Chair first meetings or (depending on location) recruit member volunteer(s) to do so

• Call referred enquirers to explain more about new group – try to convert them to attending first free meeting

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our Development and Alumni Relations team to help guide and deliver ourregular giving and stewardship programmes. The ideal candidate will have experience of running successful major fundraising appeals to large audiences. They will have the ability to draft persuasive and accurate copy to support both fundraising and stewardship literature. They will be highly motivated and creative, driving new initiatives to boost participation, increase overall giving, while also increasing retention of donors through an outstanding, tailored stewardship programme. The Development and Alumni Relations Office leads the process of generating long-term and consistent voluntary income for Merchant Taylors’ School, and forrunning a comprehensive alumni and parental relations programme.

The Development Manager (Fundraising and Stewardship) will be responsible for planning, managing and having an input to the strategy for a regular giving programme at Merchant Taylors’ School, with a focus on increasing the participation (giving rates) of both our alumni and parental constituencies, as well as donor retention through planning and executing a stewardship programme for benefactors of all levels. Some face-to-face fundraising may also be required, particularly relating to legacy fundraising and the post-holder will build a portfolio of mid-level donors they will manage.

The role

Effective financial management is central to our strategy and operating model. The Finance Manager will be crucial in determining how we manage our finances, resources and operations whilst embedding a culture of financial efficiency and effective controls.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Interim Finance Manager will lead on financial matters and be expected to provide critical financial information, insightful analysis and timely reporting to facilitate the growth of the Charity.

The role is standalone but working within a closeknit team. It with therefore have a degree of autonomy but will be expected to contribute to the wider development of the Charity. Being a financial ‘all rounder’, there is a real opportunity to contribute to the way the Charity operates by instilling sound financial operations and providing meaningful financial reporting. The role provides an opportunity to lead the finance function and will suit a progressive accountant looking for this kind of responsibility.

We would therefore be looking for an individual that has demonstrable experience in operating financial functions and has the personality to fit within a charity that works collaboratively.

The role of Head of Legal reports to the Director of Legal & Governance and you will assist them in ensuring the legal function of the organisation runs efficiently, smoothly and that we proactively identify and address legal risk and development needs.

You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day to day legal affairs of the organisation.

About the opportunity
Working closely with the Corporate Partnerships Manager and wider Philanthropy Department, the Corporate Partnerships Coordinator will identify and cultivate fruitful partnerships with a range of small, medium and large businesses.
They will help maximise the potential of corporate and other organisations for funding, volunteer recruitment, and other philanthropic opportunities, to enable growth and sustainability for Action Tutoring. This will be achieved by securing and nurturing small to medium sized organisations to provide financial support for programmes. Additionally, the Corporate Partnerships Coordinator will engage with business to generate volunteers from across the country to deliver both online and face to face tutoring.

Employment Consultant

We are seeking a motivated Employment Consultant to support people leaving prison into meaningful work by building strong relationships with candidates, employers and partner organisations.

Position: Employment Consultant
Location: Birmingham (office-based in Digbeth at least 3 days a week, with weekly prison visits)

About the Role

This role sits at the heart of an innovative peer-led employment programme that helps people rebuild their lives after prison. You will work closely with candidates both before and after release, supporting their transition into the community and into paid work. Key responsibilities include:

• Identifying candidates approaching release who are seeking employment
• Building strong relationships with candidates to understand and help address barriers to work, such as ID, banking and family contacts
• Supporting individuals through release and into the community with regular check-ins
• Building and maintaining relationships with prison staff and other stakeholders
• Organising monthly job surgeries both in prison and in the community
• Connecting with local and national employers, advocating for candidates and promoting their skills
• Collaborating with probation services, local authorities and third sector organisations
• Logging candidate progress using a CRM system

About You

Experience in recruitment, case management or related work would be an advantage but is not essential. A driving licence and access to a car is required for prison visits (expenses covered).

As an independent charity at the heart of South Devon, Rowcroft Hospice provides expert care and support to local people with life-limiting illnesses, many of whom are facing the hardest times imaginable. Each year we support over 2,500 patients and their loved ones, with 80% of people cared for in their own homes, from Dartmouth to Dawlish and up onto Dartmoor. For patients whose complex needs cannot be met at home, we also provide care, support and specialist services in our 12-bedded Inpatient Unit in Torquay. We are seeking a communications expert to raise awareness of our projects and campaigns and help our organisation platform our members and the women and girls' voices.  This person will help us demonstrate the impact of our influencing work, as well as the impact of our alliance, to our stakeholders, including policy/decision-makers and funders.

A varied role, the person will be a natural story-teller and will report to the Head of Influencing & Impact (currently being recruited) but will work closely with the entire team, including the CEO on organisational comms.

We are looking for

• An inspiring storyteller – an inclusive feminist who is able to translate policy recommendations and the experiences of women and girls with multiple unmet needs into compelling communications and campaigns,
• Experience of working with the media, including press releases and public relations,
• A confident and proven digital communicator
• Experience of engaging marginalised people from diverse backgrounds in communications activity
• The ability to deliver against multiple targets, set project plans and juggle deadlines

For Us Too (Thanet, Canterbury and Swale) is a local parent driven charity providing information, support and family focused social events for children with disabilities and their families.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Manager to lead this local parent driven Charity.

You will be responsible for leading the team of Family support officers and volunteers with the varied activities that the Charity provides, particularly regarding our supporting education program and supporting families with guidance on all aspects of their child’s wellbeing.

If you have relevant knowledge and/or experience of working within the area of children with disabilities and families, have experience of leading a team, are well organised, flexible and able to work with a range of professional/external agencies we would like to hear from you.

The position requires an enhanced DBS disclosure and the ability to regularly travel around Kent with some evening and weekend work.

Main Duties and responsibilities

• To manage all operational activity of the charity according to the strategic direction provided by the CEO and Board of Trustees
• To be responsible for all aspects of staff management and supervision
• To be responsible for all aspects of external contract management and performance, including monitoring and reporting KPI outcomes to funding bodies
• To report to the CEO, providing reports and accurate, up to date information pertaining to contracts and new business                    
• To undertake all aspects of business development including identification of funding opportunities, bid-writing and tender submissions
• To work in partnership with charities ensuring co-ordination and co-operation in relation to contract delivery and performance
• To maintain existing and develop new partnerships with statutory, voluntary and private sector organisations for the benefit of disabled children, young people and their families
• To be responsible for updating and revising the charity’s Business Plan and fundraising Strategy, in accordance with the CEO’s and Board’s strategic direction
• To develop and maintain policies and procedures in accordance with the CEO’s strategic direction
• To undertake any other relevant duties within the overall scope of the role, as requested by the CEO and Board of Trustees.
