The Role

We are looking for a proactive and strategic Development Manager – Trusts and Foundations to lead and grow our income from major trusts and foundations, with a clear focus on new business development.

You will play a pivotal role in securing large-scale, multi-year funding by identifying and cultivating new funders who align with our mission. This role is ideal for someone who is ambitious, driven by impact, and confident in developing strong cases for support to secure high-value donations.

You’ll also manage two experienced Officers and take a strategic lead in strengthening our pipeline, partnerships and long-term funding potential.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the development and implementation of a new business strategy for securing high-value and multi-year support from major trusts and foundations.

· Research, identify and approach new prospects, building a robust pipeline of opportunities.

· Develop strong, tailored applications, proposals and pitches that reflect our unique impact.

· Build and maintain strategic relationships with funders, trustees and key decision makers.

· Line manage one Senior Trusts & Foundations Officer and one Trusts & Foundations Officer , ensuring their continued development and success.

· Monitor and report of income performance, pipeline progression and prospect engagement.

· Work closely with colleagues in fundraising, finance, and operations to shape compelling, fundable projects.

· Represent The Sick Children’s Trust externally with professionalism, passion and confidence.

About You

We’re looking for someone with the passion and initiative to drive growth, and the skills to bring in transformational funding. You’ll have:

· A proven track record in securing five-and-six figure grants from trusts and foundations.

· Experience of successfully developing new funding relationships from scratch.

· Excellent bid-writing and storytelling skills, with strong attention to detail.

· The ability to think strategically and work autonomously.

· Experience of managing or supporting colleagues in a collaborative environment.

· A good understanding of project-based funding and reporting to funders.

· Confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders, trustees and foundation staff.

About the role

University Access Officers are responsible for delivering The Access Project’s high impact mentoring programme to students across our partner schools. This role works with a caseload of students supporting them from the start of Year 10 up to the end of Year 11 to understand the pathway to a top university. 

The role also involves project coordination, working with our schools, volunteers and teams across The Access Project to ensure our young people are fully supported and have the best possible chance of achieving social mobility and enhancing their future prospects.

This role is for a University Access Officer to work across one school., Shirebrook Academy. Our schools are shown on a map on our website.

Role responsibilities

• Work directly with young people mentoring a caseload of students in a professional and safe manner.
• Deliver our University Readiness programme through in-depth, targeted 1:1 mentoring sessions with Year 10 to Year 11 students.
• Assess student progress towards being able to make successful sixth form applications.
• Engage with students in school and enrol them onto the programme.
• Match students with volunteer tutors.
• Monitor student attendance to tutorials and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance.
• Monitor the impact of tutorials and intervene as appropriate.
• Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme
• Manage tutor attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring systems
• Lead on quality assurance of tuition pairings completing a caseload of drop ins. 
• Upload information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided)
• Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme
• Direct enrolled students to appropriate wider enrichment opportunities, encouraging both extra and super-curricular participation and reflection.

The Role

Bereavement Support Services Lead (Digital). This is a rewarding and key role in the Bereavement Support Services team. The team provides a wide range of services, including the Helpline, Online Community, memory making, and print materials. The aim of this post is to provide operational and line management so that the BSS team can provide consistent, high-quality emotional support to bereaved families who seek support from Sands, as well as supervising the work of the Bereavement Support Officers on the frontline. As our digital support continues to grow and develop, we are looking for someone to support and inspire the team in this expanding area, working closely with Sands’ Bereavement Support Digital Coordinator. The Bereavement Support Services Team offers 1-2-1 support via telephone, email and other digital channels, and is usually open from 10-3 from Monday to Friday and 6-9pm from Tuesday to Thursday with occasional extended opening hours. Support is also available through digital channels; our Online Community, direct messenger on Instagram and Facebook and various closed groups on Facebook which need to be regularly monitored and moderated to provide a safe, user-led space accessible to all. In future a wider range of channels may be used. There are three Bereavement Support Leads (BSLs) including this post holder, and between them they are expected to cover all regular opening hours on a rota basis. Each shift will start 30 minutes before the helpline opens and end 30 minutes after the helpline closes, and BSLs will divide up the week in order to be present during shifts and ensure at least one BSL or the Head of BSS is available to the team 9am-4pm Monday to Friday and 5.30pm-9.30pm Tuesday to Thursday for safeguarding and general support. The role will be split between operational management of the BSS team, line management of BSSOs, supporting and contributing to other strands of bereavement support work, as well as some direct work on all of the support channels.

• Acting as the SLT lead for contract oversight and procurement, ensuring appropriate financial governance, pricing models, and value-for-money outcomes.

About the Role

The Assistant Reserves Officer is one of our team managing and developing the Trust’s nature reserves for people and wildlife.  Your work place includes internationally recognised wetlands and woodlands along with nationally important meadows, chalk grasslands and heathland across Hertfordshire and Middlesex.

You will need to have strong experience in practical habitat management, including the use of power tools and machinery, such as chainsaws, brush cutters and BCS mowers. You will have experience of working within a dynamic team and leading volunteers. You will need to have a keen interest in wildlife and preferably a knowledge of the habitats in our area.

No two days are the same as an ARO at HMWT; you will get the opportunity to utilise and develop your practical habitat management skills across our nature reserves including tree felling, coppicing, scrub clearance, hay cutting and pond/ditch management. You will also undertake the maintenance of site infrastructure; assist with the management of livestock; and perform surveying and monitoring of habitat/species, tree safety and infrastructure. These tasks will be delivered working closely with members of the nature reserves team; our volunteer wardens and our practical conservation volunteers.

Willingness to travel throughout our work area and flexibility to work occasional irregular hours is required for this post.

Role Purpose

Winston’s Wish is a digital first organisation leading the way in Digital Transformation across the Bereavement sector. This role is new and exciting and will play a vital part in helping Winston’s Wish turn up the dial across our high value fundraising.

As Philanthropy Manager you will be responsible for growing income from major donors and Trusts and Foundations through excellent donor stewardship. Leading a team of committed Trust fundraisers, you will focus on identifying prospective individual donors and foundations and develop lasting relationships with them. You will also support the management of relationships with existing donors, ensuring all donors have an excellent experience of supporting Winston’s Wish and understand the impact of their support on the lives of grieving children.

Main Responsibilities

Leadership

• To lead and inspire the Philanthropy team fostering a collaborative and high culture that delivers against income and objectives.
• Provide clear and supportive leadership that motivates staff to achieve, develop and grow in their roles.
• Undertake quarterly reviews for all direct reports.

Philanthropy Fundraising

 

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with high-value donors, ensuring effective solicitation, stewardship, and follow-up to secure significant contributions (six-figure gifts).
• Build and maintain a portfolio of Trust & Grants supporters. Responsible for researching, approaching and developing compelling applications with a focus on ensuring Trusts & Grants provide a long-term, diverse and sustainable income stream.
• Lead the development and stewardship of the Philanthropy board to identify and secure transformational (6-7 figure) gifts and the development of the Business development Board to open opportunities with Corporate Partners.
• Write and design a compelling case for support that is tailored to our High Value audiences.
• Lead on planning and delivering successful high value cultivation events.
• Represent Winston’s Wish at fundraising events and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• You will identify new major donors and Trusts and Foundations who have the potential to make a significant difference to the lives of grieving children. You will develop and implement cultivation strategies to turn prospects into supporters.
• You will work with the Individual Giving Manager to identify mid-level donors who could be stewarded into the major donor pipeline.

Strategy, Planning and reporting

•  You will work alongside the Director of Income Generation to support the development and implementation of a new Philanthropy strategy covering development of a prospect pipeline, building a culture of peer referrals, annual targets and personalised engagement plans.
• Lead on developing and delivering effective stewardship journeys and cultivation plans.
• Produce regular reports on fundraising activity, analysing performance against targets, and identifying areas for improvement and growth.
• Work with the Director of Income Generation to develop the annual budget, including leading on monthly performance reports and contributing to quarterly reforecasts and reporting against KPI’s and milestones.
• Undertake research and make use of tools to identify potential High Value partners.

Collaboration

• Work closely with the Director of Income Generation, SLT and other teams to maximise high value fundraising opportunities.
• Where appropriate, you will involve Winston’s Wish senior staff and the Board of Trustees to make the most of opportunities to engage and build relationships with existing and potential supporters.
