Our approach to hybrid working
We recognise the importance of coming together regularly, in-person, as a team, so we can share learnings and spend social time with each other. We also recognise that people need flexibility, and that homeworking enables focused work and can fit well in people’s lives.
We ask all staff to take part in pre-arranged team meetings which take place every six weeks in our office space. We also might ask you to meet in-person with members of your team from time to time, or to be available for face-to-face meetings with clients and partners where this enhances the work.
We assume that this would usually not amount to more than one day per fortnight for people who work full time.
We are happy to discuss how this sits in your life. This can be agreed by your line manager.
Equality and inclusion
As reflected in our Equality Action Plan, we are committed to being a truly diverse organisation. We want to ensure that our trustees, staff members, lived experience partners and volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds, each bringing their own unique perspectives and experiences. We want to ensure that everyone feels heard and is fully able to participate and thrive.
We currently have an under-representation from people from racial and ethnic minority backgrounds, people who identify as LGBTQ+ and disabled people and so would particularly welcome applications from people from these groups.
We welcome applications from people who have been in contact with the criminal justice system. For some roles, you may be asked to undergo a basic or enhanced DBS check, but you will only be deemed ineligible for roles which relate to any offences on your criminal record.
We have a range of benefits in place to ensure everyone can thrive, for example:
· We are a Disability Confident employer
· We offer enhanced parental and sickness leave
· We offer flexible working wherever possible
· We provide our employees with an annual wellbeing allowance
· And much more

About the role
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Operations Lead to play a vital role at the heart of our organisation. This is a senior, hands-on post that combines strategic oversight with day-to-day delivery across all core operational functions - including HR, governance, IT and data, finance administration, and internal systems. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of the charity’s infrastructure, ensuring we are well-run, compliant, and set up to deliver real impact. Working closely with the Chief Executive and senior leadership team, you’ll take ownership of the systems and processes that enable our frontline work and support our future growth. The role involves both direct delivery and coordination - particularly through managing relationships with key external service providers in IT, HR, and finance. You’ll ensure these partnerships are effective, responsive, and aligned with the organisation’s needs. There may also be future opportunities to line manage an Operations Assistant or similar role, as the organisation continues to grow and develop its internal capacity. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on problem-solving, values good systems, and wants to help build a resilient and well-run organisation from the inside out.
About You
You’re an experienced operational professional who takes pride in making organisations work smoothly, efficiently, and compliantly. You have a strong track record of leading core operational functions - from HR and governance to finance processes, IT systems, and internal infrastructure - and you’re confident balancing both day-to-day delivery and strategic oversight. You understand what it means to work in a small charity: you're flexible, solutions-focused, and comfortable rolling up your sleeves when needed. But you also bring a mindset for continuous improvement - always looking for ways to strengthen systems, manage risk, and support others to do their best work. You’re confident working with external providers and partners, ensuring that outsourced support (in areas like HR, IT and finance) is well-managed and meets the needs of the organisation. You communicate clearly, build strong relationships across teams and disciplines, and take a thoughtful, values-led approach to your work. Most of all, you're motivated by the chance to contribute behind the scenes to meaningful change — ensuring that the operational foundations are in place for the charity to thrive and deliver real impact.

Birthrights is the leading authority on the fundamental human rights of women and birthing people during pregnancy and birth and our work has never been more urgent.
We need a strong team-player and self-starter who can respond to all enquiries coming into the advice service and who knows when to seek further support, guidance, or information from the rest of the team.
Our advice and information manager, who works 3 days a week, will retain overall responsibility for the advice service provision, bringing the intelligence themes from the advice service to the wider training and advocacy work of Birthrights. You will be supported by the manager to respond and to confidentially record advice enquiries on two days a week, working directly with the advice and information manager and our Legal Lead on any more challenging enquiries that require a response beyond giving individual advice. For example, Birthrights might write directly to a Trust or raise themes from our advice work with the NMC or the Royal Colleges. You will coordinate your schedule with the existing Advice and Information Officer and Manager to ensure that two team members are available throughout the week, with overlap in working days for collaborative working and team meetings.
You will be an integral part of our team. We have a weekly advice team meeting and monthly team meetings. We use Microsoft Teams messaging and calls to support one another and to communicate throughout the day.
Birthrights is a small but mighty charity, and our reputation will be in your hands. We pride ourselves on our expertise in human rights law, and how it applies to maternity care, and on our empathetic and supportive service. We provide legal information, rather than counselling or legal advice, and we make practical suggestions on how and where to advocate to bring about a swift resolution of a rights-based problem. We signpost to other organisations when enquiries go beyond our core areas of knowledge.
As we continue to build capacity within the team, we are focused not only on meeting current demand, but also on looking ahead — identifying the evolving needs of those who may seek our support, and ensuring our approach remains responsive, impactful, and grounded in rights-based care.
We are committed to supporting women and birthing people to access care that respects their rights. Our support includes advocating when those rights are at risk and providing clear pathways for escalation when human rights are breached.
At the same time, we view our advice service as a vital driver of wider systemic change — both within individual NHS trusts and across the maternity system as a whole. Through this work, we aim to highlight patterns, push for accountability, and contribute to building a more just and equitable maternity system.
As the service continues to grow and evolve, we may be able to offer additional hours in the future — and we would welcome your interest in being part of that journey.
It's an exciting time to join us. In 2023 we celebrated 10 years as a small charity, keeping the lived experience of women and birthing people at the heart of everything we do. We continue to champion a human rights framework in maternity care and for human rights law to underpin the regulation of maternity care. You will be one of several new staff, working under a strong board, a new 10 year strategy and a new Chief Executive.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

The vacancy would suit individuals who have some sales experience, and want to develop and enhance this, applying this experience in an environment that has a societal impact. It may also suit a graduate looking to work in a unique business development setting. Crucially, we are looking for self-starters who use their initiative to contribute great ideas and succeed with their sales.

About us
Pancreatic cancer is a tough one but we're taking it on. It is tough to diagnose, tough to treat, and tough to research. For too long this disease has been side-lined. We want to make sure that everyone affected by it gets all the help they need. Together we are taking on pancreatic cancer. Underpinning this vision are our three values:
· Courage
· Compassion
· Community
We cannot achieve our vision without employing people who are committed to our vision, strategy, and values.
At Pancreatic Cancer UK (PCUK) our ambition is to create an inclusive working environment that reflects the communities and audiences that we engage with and where everyone can be their true selves, where they feel respected, championed, heard, and supported. We want our workforce to achieve their potential, understand their contribution and feel proud of their impact by creating a culture and organisation that is genuinely inclusive by advancing equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging through our policies and practices.
We believe diversity drives great outcomes by encouraging the different points of view that come from a diverse workforce. We want to hear from and engage with people whose experience of dealing with this disease may be very different depending on their individual circumstances and background. We can think of no better way to do this than by making sure this role fully represents our intent; therefore, we are especially keen to consider applications from suitable applicants who consider themselves to be in areas that appear underrepresented within the charity sector.
Safeguarding
PCUK is committed to safe and fair recruitment processes that safeguard and protect those we work with, support and serve. We make sure all our staff are selected, vetted (DBS/Criminal record checks where appropriate), trained, and supervised fairly and to a high standard so that they can provide safe, effective and compassionate care. Where we work with volunteers, we extend the same support in order to ensure that they are working within our ethos and standards.
