Our work across Newcastle
Volunteering Matters play a vital role supporting volunteering in Newcastle. Since 2005, we have been operating Volunteer Centre Newcastle (VCN). This service provides a wide range of support around all things volunteering to 1250+ charities, organisations, and groups locally. Each year, we also support 2500+ members of the public who are interested in volunteering and need support to get started. We also lead the Home from Hospital and Community Support project where volunteers support older people with their transition home following a hospital admission. 

In early 2025, we launched the Good Neighbours Newcastle project funded by Newcastle City Council. We deliver this project alongside our delivery partner organisation, Search Newcastle, with a second partner organisation scheduled to join in early 2026.

Good Neighbours project
We would all like to live in a place that has a sense of community, where people look out for their neighbours. The Good Neighbours project aims to foster a feeling of positive wellbeing and independence for those who may be socially isolated, or who don’t have many people around them, giving that “little bit of help”.

The project helps people in the community feel safe, supported, and more able to live an independent life, whilst preventing, reducing and delaying the need for formal support through Adult Social Care. It also provides people the opportunity to volunteer a little time, in a flexible way, to make a difference in their own community. We know volunteering can lead to enhanced skills, and positive wellbeing. Volunteers provide practical or social support, completing “one-off’ or short-term tasks, supporting a neighbour.  This includes tasks like collecting essentials, driving someone to a GP appointment, helping with odd jobs around the house, light gardening, or checking in with someone for a cuppa and chat. 

Role Purpose
We are looking for a talented, dynamic, and professional Project Manager to join our team in Newcastle.  The right candidate would be someone with excellent knowledge of “best practice” in Volunteer Management and with experience of establishing new and exciting volunteering programmes.

This is a senior role within our Newcastle team so it is essential that the postholder is agile, can work flexibly, is an excellent communicator, and can build strong working relationships with a range of people. 

In this role, you will:

• Lead and manage all aspects of the Good Neighbours project, meeting ambitious goals, ensuring all volunteers and beneficiaries achieve positive outcomes
   
• Lead and manage our partnerships on a day-to-day level with Search Newcastle and another local charity, to raise the profile of the project, ensuring successful delivery and ongoing development of the work
   
• Manage and lead our use of the volunteer management system, Volunteero, ensuring its effective use across our Newcastle work

Join the Wales Team 

Are you passionate about seeing children and young people in Wales have the opportunity to connect, explore, respond and grow in faith?  Scripture Union has a vision to see a new generation of children and young people have a vibrant, personal faith in Jesus and the Support Worker will play a vital role in supporting this ministry in Wales by providing communications, organisational and administrative service to the team.

About the role     

We’re looking for a support worker who will: 

• Support the Wales Mission Team in their ongoing mission to pioneer and create opportunities for children and young people, who are found in the 95% of those outside the church, to explore the Bible, respond to Jesus, grow in faith, and become sharers of the good news of Jesus for themselves. Our priority is to reach those who don’t yet know Jesus by helping them to connect, explore, respond, and grow. 

• Work with the National Mission Co-ordinator (Wales) and the team in the National Office to develop a wider provision for mission resources, communication and marketing materials in the Welsh language. 

This is a permanent role at 0.5 FTE with a salary of £11,970.  

What You'll Do   

• Administrative Support: provide administrative support to the Wales team with regard to arranging meetings, note taking, event bookings, internal communication and database support.

• Communication: communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences in Wales in a variety of ways including newsletters, social media, updates to the website, supporter communications, handling enquiries from church volunteers/workers. 

• Welsh Language: support with translation and proof-reading to expand the provision of Welsh language mission resources and communication with supporters.

Founded in 2014 by actors Sarah Parish MBE and Jim Murray MBE in memory of their first daughter Ella-Jayne, the charity has rebranded from The Murray Parish Trust to Imagine This in 2025. The charity is now leading a national movement to address a hidden mental health crisis in seriously ill children.

There are one million children in the UK facing life-limiting, life-threatening, and serious chronic conditions. These children are at much higher risk of long-term mental health difficulties that can become more complex and difficult to treat, on top of living with often complex medical needs. Imagine This provides imaginative, innovative and empowering projects to help them navigate their journey with connection, resilience and hope. Our vision is to reach every seriously ill child, and their families, across the UK by 2035, delivering diverse and impactful projects in hospitals, hospices and community settings.

This role will be responsible for the development and delivery of public fundraising and engagement activities, building new and existing relationships with community, individual and business supporters. You will be the first point of contact for the charity, providing exceptional administration and an outstanding supporter experience. You will also proactively secure new support, and be involved in wider campaigns and events, to help the charity significantly grow income year on year.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Engagement

• Build rich relationships through exceptional and inspirational stewardship to increase retention, average gift and supporter experience.

Fundraising

Individuals: one-off/appeals, regular giving, in-memoriam/celebration and legacies

• Actively network to raise the profile of the charity and identify opportunities for new support.
• Recruit, support and coordinate volunteers to support for fundraising and engagement activity.

Data/administration

• Ensure prompt and effective supporter communications, particularly when thanking donations.
• Maintain accurate, compliant data in our CRM (Donorfy), growing the database and improving data quality.
• Use data insight to prepare reports and analyse performance to identify trends and opportunities.
• Monitor/evaluate income and KPIs making recommendations for remedial action or growth opportunities.
• Prepare Quarterly reports for the Board, and upon request.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and the Fundraising Code of Practice.

We are looking for an experienced Fundraising Officer to join our small and friendly fundraising team. You will support the High Value Partnerships Manager and Community & Events Fundraising Manager, both of which are already well-established income streams with lots of great potential. It’s a great opportunity to work across varied income streams including Corporate, Trusts & Grants, Community, Fundraising Events and Individual/Regular Giving.

Purpose of the role

• Reporting to the High Value Partnerships Manager you will provide support across our two priority Fundraising streams – Community Fundraising (Community, Events and Individual/Regular Giving) and High Value Partnerships (Trusts, Grants, Corporate and Sponsorship).

Main Objectives 

• Provide day-to-day support for staff and volunteers using SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Office 365, including troubleshooting common issues and escalating more complex problems to our ICT contractor and line manager as required. 

• Support the administration and basic configuration of the Trust’s digital systems, ensuring user accounts and permissions/access rights are kept up-to-date and in line with current best practice for cyber security and wider digital infrastructure.  

• Assist in monitoring and maintaining the Trust’s ICT equipment, network, and server infrastructure, reporting faults and liaising with our ICT contractor for resolution.  

• Support our ICT contractor with the external helpdesk to ensure IT problems are logged, tracked, and resolved promptly, maintaining good communication with users throughout. Including assisting with staff onboarding process 

The successful candidate will ideally have: 

• Experience of Office 365, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. 

• Experience of maintaining desktops, laptops, networking and servers. 

• Knowledge of network security including cyber essentials. 

• Ability to manage own schedule, be proactive and balance competing and diverse priorities.

As part of the social prescribing team, you will work in partnership with community organisations, health and social care and statutory services to provide a social prescribing service to people aged 60 and over, and/or self-identifying as a carer of an older person living in the London Borough of Southwark. The role will be based at our Stones End Day Centre, from partners' sites across the borough, in clients' homes and in other venues that clients' might choose.
