Mission Director

Do you have a heart for God’s global mission, a head for strategy implementation and a passion to see global mission movements catalysed? If so, then you might be just the right person to take on the key role of Mission Director with Church Mission Society (CMS).

Like many mission organisations, in recent years CMS has gone through a process of decentralisation and localisation, resulting in the establishment of CMS-Africa and Asia-CMS within their respective regions. In addition, while CMS once worked primarily through placing people from the West in cross-cultural contexts, we’ve broadened our approach to include supporting local mission organisations and their mission personnel, partnership grant-making and network-building. We particularly want to do this in edge contexts around the world: those places where Jesus’ name is rarely heard or where the church struggles to be.

As a member of the senior leadership team (SLT) of CMS, the Mission Director will play a key part in leading this strategic direction to success together with the CEO, the rest of the SLT, international partners and the mission team.

This post has an occupational requirement for the post holder to be a practising and committed Christian, committed to the aims, values and the ethos statement of CMS. In addition, they must be able and willing to travel internationally around 50 days per annum. An enhanced DBS / criminal records check is also required for this post.

Hours, salary and benefits:

· Permanent and full time (35 hours per week)

· Hybrid working: at least two days a week at CMS House, Oxfordshire

· Starting salary is circa £60,000 per annum depending on experience with a generous pension contribution: up to 10 per cent employer contribution on annual salary

Your role

As a servant leader with exceptional cross-cultural experience and communication skills, the successful candidate for Mission Director will set up processes and structures that mobilise people in mission and enable, strengthen and catalyse mission movements, leading them to flourish in the UK and overseas.

What you’ll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate qualification in Not for Profit (Charity) management or significant equivalent experience, and will have held a senior role in a mission organisation/charity with responsibility for managing, formulating and implementing international strategy. They will be a prayerful, discerning Christian with missiological knowledge and insight, cross-cultural experience, and mission engagement experience, bringing effective mission partnerships and nurturing a healthy mission spirituality within CMS.

Role: Digital Marketing Manager
The Digital Marketing Manager will lead the development and implementation of digital marketing campaigns that support Christian Aid’s overarching digital strategy, driving both income and brand awareness. This role will play a pivotal part in key moments throughout the supporter journey — including fundraising appeals, product launches, and major organisational communications.
Working closely with the Digital Lead, you will coordinate digital activity during emergency appeals and collaborate with the Individual Giving team to ensure fast, effective campaign activation. You will champion all aspects of digital marketing — from paid search and social media to email campaigns — using data-driven insights to strengthen supporter engagement and grow online revenue.
As a strategic connector across teams, you’ll help embed digital marketing into broader organisational planning, including fundraising, campaigning, and volunteering initiatives. You will also oversee work delivered by external agencies, ensuring alignment with Christian Aid’s strategic goals and maintaining high standards across all digital channels.

The role:

• Extensive experience developing and executing strategic digital marketing plans in B2C environments.
• Extensive technical and hands-on experience with Paid Search, Paid Social, and other digital marketing platforms, with a focus on campaign development, optimisation, and driving conversions and traffic.
• Demonstrated success in leading and developing high performing teams to design and execute integrated digital marketing strategies, while effectively managing complex budgets and delivering measurable results.
• Strong understanding of email marketing strategy and segmentation, with experience delivering engagement and supporter journeys.

• Plan, develop, and execute digital marketing campaigns that are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with acquisition and revenue targets. 
• Paid media, paid search, and email marketing drive income, strong traffic, engagement, and supporter conversion across priority campaigns.
• Strategic oversight (helicopter view) of e-communications and acquisition campaigns, creating high-level insights to ensure effective segmentation and timing
• Lead agency relationships to ensure paid digital campaigns are strategically aligned, insight-driven, and delivered to agreed KPIs and standards.
• Performance reporting and insight are delivered in collaboration with the Digital Performance Advisor, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous optimisation

About the Role

As a Recruitment Manager, you’ll drive our process for finding and selecting the founders of the new organizations we launch. This is a highly impactful role, for two key reasons:

1. The number of organizations we launch is currently limited by the number of exceptional founders we can find. Your ability to find and select an additional outstanding founder will likely result in an additional incredible organisation launching. For every Lucia Coulter & Jack Rafferty we find, we can launch another organisation like LEEP, preventing more than 44 million children suffering lead poisoning.

2. The biggest predictor of charity success we have is the strength of the co-founding team. If you can refine our recruitment process to reliably attract and select higher-potential founders, the organizations we launch will help more humans and animals at scale.

Our Recruitment team operates across two distinct, though overlapping, areas of work:

• Outreach - attracting high-potential entrepreneurs to apply

• Vetting - selecting the very best founders out of the applicant pool

We operate as a tight-knit team of four who work flexibly across the two domains. We anticipate a new hire doing both Outreach and Vetting work, with some possibility to specialise more in one direction or the other based on experience and preference. 

At AIM, we prize the ability of staff to work with speed, autonomy, and flexibility. We don’t expect you to have prior experience in recruitment. We do expect you to be a fast learner and excited about taking on whatever work is most essential on a given day. 

More concretely, you’ll split your time between the following:

• Outreach: Designing and executing campaigns to reach promising applicants; writing newsletters, social media posts, and outreach copy; attending conferences and events; and working closely with our communications team to build partnerships and grow our applicant pipeline.

• Vetting: Running multi-stage application processes, reviewing written applications and test tasks, conducting interviews, and refining our selection methods.

The role could be more junior or more senior, depending on the successful candidate: A more experienced hire will take more of a lead on designing the strategy they will execute, while a more junior hire will focus more on contributing to and learning strategic planning for the tasks they will execute at first.
 

Specific Responsibilities

Executing Marketing & Communications Activities [40%]

• Designing and implementing multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital, traditional, and in-person channels (such as our website, newsletter, LinkedIn, job boards, and conferences)

• Identifying and persuading top talent to apply for our programs through one-to-one engagement, such as through LinkedIn, email, and online calls 

• Soliciting and collating referrals for potential top applicants to our programs, especially from members of our community and affiliated organisations

• Writing blog posts, newsletters, articles, and other copy in a clear, accurate, and convincing tone

• Attending conferences and other professional events to represent AIM, conducting talks, workshops, and 1-on-1 meetings

Executing our Candidate Selection Process [40%]

• Evaluating hundreds of application forms and test tasks to figure out which are the most promising, using a wide range of formal and informal indicators, heuristics, and other information

• Conducting and grading candidate interviews to help identify and select the most promising candidates to join our programs

• Project management for each application round to ensure each candidate receives accurate and timely information on decisions, next steps, and other details of the application process

• Automating aspects of the process to increase scalability and reduce staff time

Evaluation and Systems Improvement [20%]

• Collating and refining data on the cost-effectiveness of different communication methods for finding high-quality applicants to our programs

• Analyzing historical data to pull out findings to improve our selection rubrics for future rounds

• Testing potential new communication avenues, such as digital advertising or pitching articles to major publications

About You

We are looking for someone who is adaptable, fast-moving, and singularly committed to using their career to improve the world to the greatest reasonable extent they can. You will bring strong strategic thinking to the challenge of how and where we can find the very best potential founders, and how to select them from our applicant pool. 

We do not expect prior experience in recruitment or communications/marketing. What matters is the ability to learn quickly, work flexibly, and stay focused on impact.

Job Purpose

We are looking for a talented, dynamic, and professional Engagement Manager to join our team in Dumfries and Galloway, working specifically in the West of the region. The right candidate would be someone who can work flexibly and demonstrate an understanding and total commitment to our organisational values. 

As our Engagement Manager, you will directly support people aged 16+ who may have complex and challenging barriers to securing a positive pathway.  This will include barrier identification and removal, supporting pre volunteering activity as well as volunteering placements in their local area. 

You will identify, develop, and manage partnerships with charitable and not-for-profit organisations across the West of Dumfries and Galloway, building an effective presence within the third sector locally.  You will create diverse, high-quality, structured volunteering opportunities with charity partner organisations, ensuring that volunteering roles reflect the needs and interests of those we support. You will also support the creation of strong referral pathways into our service, and beyond it, building on a knowledge of existing provision

• Engaging directly with people to understand their wants, needs and aspirations and determine the best opportunity for each person, and provide the support they need in advance of volunteering.

• Developing and maintaining good relationships with referral partners such as The Council, DWP, SDS etc to ensure a steady stream of referrals are received.

• Identifying, creating and developing relationships with new charity partners or agencies to provide bespoke and tailored volunteering opportunities.  These opportunities will support the individuals supported to gain experience, confidence and support them on route to a positive destination.

• Supporting with funding applications and opportunities

• Researching and engaging with partners to provide required coverage of placement sector.

• Managing the risk assessment, quality assurance and audit processes as appropriate.

• Ensuring monitoring, impact and evaluation information and data is collected and that the project meets it’s agreed targets, reporting format and schedule.  Assist the Delivery Leader by preparing reports to funders.

• Ensuring all the above is done with excellent record keeping, in accordance with compliance requirements.

Our work across Newcastle
Volunteering Matters play a vital role supporting volunteering in Newcastle. Since 2005, we have been operating Volunteer Centre Newcastle (VCN). This service provides a wide range of support around all things volunteering to 1250+ charities, organisations, and groups locally. Each year, we also support 2500+ members of the public who are interested in volunteering and need support to get started. We also lead the Home from Hospital and Community Support project where volunteers support older people with their transition home following a hospital admission. 

In early 2025, we launched the Good Neighbours Newcastle project funded by Newcastle City Council. We deliver this project alongside our delivery partner organisation, Search Newcastle, with a second partner organisation scheduled to join in early 2026.

Good Neighbours project
We would all like to live in a place that has a sense of community, where people look out for their neighbours. The Good Neighbours project aims to foster a feeling of positive wellbeing and independence for those who may be socially isolated, or who don’t have many people around them, giving that “little bit of help”.

The project helps people in the community feel safe, supported, and more able to live an independent life, whilst preventing, reducing and delaying the need for formal support through Adult Social Care. It also provides people the opportunity to volunteer a little time, in a flexible way, to make a difference in their own community. We know volunteering can lead to enhanced skills, and positive wellbeing. Volunteers provide practical or social support, completing “one-off’ or short-term tasks, supporting a neighbour.  This includes tasks like collecting essentials, driving someone to a GP appointment, helping with odd jobs around the house, light gardening, or checking in with someone for a cuppa and chat. 

Role Purpose
We are looking for a talented, dynamic, and professional Project Manager to join our team in Newcastle.  The right candidate would be someone with excellent knowledge of “best practice” in Volunteer Management and with experience of establishing new and exciting volunteering programmes.

The Income Generation and Communications team currently raises £5 million a year to support the work of Bolton Hospice. Our consultant-led team of doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide expert care and support for local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home. We not only take care of patients' physical needs, but we also consider their emotional, spiritual and social needs too. And we support families and close friends, both during illness and in bereavement.

We care for patients throughout their illness, helping to improve their wellbeing and quality of life. We also provide compassionate, dedicated and dignified care for patients at the end of their life. As our services and reach increase, so does our income target, so the successful candidate will build on our previous fundraising success and ultimately help us reach more of the people in Bolton who need us.

The Role:

You will act as the first point of contact for individuals, groups who are fundraising on the hospice’s behalf, providing information, support and advice and delivering excellent supporter care.

You will be responsible for maximising participation in community fundraising activities through effective promotion of the wide range of opportunities to organise events and raise funds on the hospice’s behalf including the planning and delivery of community-based mass participation events such as the Bolton Hospice Reindeer Run.

You will inspire support and help raise the profile of the work of the hospice from community groups, associations, companies and schools by providing talks and presentations about the organisation.

Developing new and existing relationships, networking and identifying and approaching potential supporters is key to the role.

• Leading the development of six to seven figure multiyear funding from trusts and foundations with a relationship led approach
• Managing and developing the Senior Trusts Officer to support the development of their portfolio of funders <£50k
• Ensuring excellent levels of donor stewardship to retain and grow funder relationships, providing first class cultivation plans and account management
• Ownership of the Trusts and Foundations programme, establishing robust strategies that enable growth and deep donor engagement

Experience needed:

•  Proven experience in trusts and foundations fundraising, with a track record of managing and securing six-figure gifts
• Demonstrable success in growing and managing large funding portfolios and securing multi-year commitments
• Strong relationship-building and stewardship skills to retain and uplift existing funders
• Strategic thinker with an ability to identify and develop new funding opportunities
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging funders and internal teams effectively
• Ambitious and proactive, with a focus on delivering measurable growth with a collaborative approach

What’s on offer:

£46,227 if based in London with a minimum of 4 days per month in the office

£41,607 if home based with regular travel to London for monthly and quarterly meetings

About the role

We’re excited to be recruiting a Bespoke Event Manager to join our Events and Community Fundraising team at WWF-UK.

In this role, you’ll lead the development and delivery of WWF-owned events, both virtual and in-person designed to inspire public engagement and raise vital funds for our conservation work. From concept to execution, you’ll manage a diverse portfolio including the Big Winter Wander, Facebook Challenges, and our new walking series, Great Wild Walks. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and supporters to deliver impactful experiences that drive income and deepen engagement.

You’ll bring the following skills and experience, helping us drive forward our mission to restore nature and tackle climate change:

Minimum Criteria (Essential)

Event management experience in the charity sector, ideally across both in-person and virtual events

Project delivery experience – delivering projects with multiple stakeholders and deliverables

A track record of working to set targets and delivering budgets

Good understanding of marketing techniques, especially digital marketing
