Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a highly capable, ambitious, well-organised, energetic, proactive and diligent individual with legal experience (academic or professional) to play an integral role in developing and delivering our growing legal, policy and advocacy work.
You don’t need to be a qualified or practising lawyer, but you do need to have a law degree or equivalent and familiarity with environmental law. You’ll understand the importance of winning in both courts of law and of public opinion. You’ll be passionate, eager to learn and committed to making change happen quickly.

What you’ll be doing
As Legal Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in shaping River Action’s fight for cleaner rivers by acting as the link between legal expertise provided by external lawyers and River Action’s day-to-day campaigning, policy, advocacy and operational work.
The role will involve working closely with River Action’s Head of Legal to use the law and legal strategies to strengthen and improve environmental protection of the UK’s rivers. This exciting role will include scoping, developing and managing strategic litigation to achieve systemic change as well as supporting River Action’s policy and advocacy work. You’ll also support the River Action team to build successful campaigns to challenge polluters, hold government and regulators accountable, and push for policy reform.
Key duties and responsibilities

Support the Head of Legal in scoping, developing and managing River Action’s legal work, including commissioning legal services from external lawyers and providing instructions on legal matters.

Produce legal research and analysis to inform and support River Action’s strategic litigation, policy and advocacy work.

Work with the campaigns team to develop impactful legal actions as part of creative and positively disruptive campaigns to deliver organisational goals.

Work with the communities team to identify opportunities for River Action to support communities through legal action, including by developing the River Rescue Kit and other initiatives to extend impact.

Engage with and obtain information and evidence from claimants, complainants, expert witnesses and other sources to support legal actions and campaigns.

Develop an in-depth understanding of UK legal and policy frameworks relating to rivers and ensure colleagues are kept up to date with changes.

Monitor legal developments including caselaw and legislative proposals, working closely with the Head of Legal to understand the implications and opportunities for River Action’s work.

Ensure team members are well-briefed on the latest legal developments (both River Action’s work and wider developments) to support their external engagement.

Prepare and contribute to legal and policy briefings for River Action and its eNGO partners and for public and political audiences.

Location
You will work from home with some travel required to London and across the UK.
The full team meets in person at least four times per year. These are multi-day meetings held in different locations in the UK. Additional UK travel will also be required. The fast-paced nature of our work and small size of our organisation means we are in very regular contact, ensuring a strong connection across the team.

World Jewish Relief created the Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) for refugees in 2016 and today we are the largest provider of specialist employment support to people who have experienced forced migration in the UK.STEP aims to support and empower people through a tailored employment programme that addresses the complex barriers that they face when preparing for and ultimately finding work in the UK.
We support all people who have experienced forced migration, regardless of their proximity to the labour market, to develop the skills and access the opportunities they need to secure sustainable and meaningful employment. We run STEP online and in person programmes across the UK.
We are now expanding our work to deliver (in partnership with the British Council) an English Language and Employment Support Programme for up to 4,000 Ukrainians and Hong Kong BNO status/visa holder (50% of each community) over the next 12 months.
We are recruiting Cantonese speaking Employment Advisors to join the STEP team delivering this new programme. You will provide high quality advice and guidance through 1:1 employability support and group employability workshops with the aim of coaching individuals and supporting them on their journey into employment that suits their previous experience and skill set.
You will prepare participants for employment and help them to achieve their chosen training and employment objectives. You will monitor and encourage participants’ engagement and attendance in all aspects of the programme. You will provide an exemplary level of support to STEP participants working towards a variety of performance targets based on the progression outcomes of participants including successful delivery of workshops, completion of training courses, volunteering, and achieving and sustaining paid employment.
The Employment Advisors will work remotely and can be based anywhere in the UK.

What the job involves
We’re looking for a Healthcare Improvement Officer to join our Improvement Programmes Team and help us deliver exciting initiatives that support healthcare professionals to improve prostate cancer services across the UK. Examples of projects supported include work around establishing better Active Surveillance so that more men can avoid unnecessary radical treatment; work to restructure and make faster the diagnostic pathway; work to coordinate with primary care and support earlier diagnosis; new surgical procedures that spare men the burden of incontinence. As Healthcare Improvement Officer, you’ll play a central role in making sure our programmes run smoothly and have maximum impact. You’ll oversee on the logistics and delivery of events across the UK and online, from our Clinical Champions Programme and Clinical Advisory Group meetings to our annual healthcare professional conference. You’ll also oversee recruitment for programmes, manage databases and monitoring systems, and handle financial processes such as invoices and purchase orders, ensuring everything is delivered on time and to a high standard.
Your work will range from planning and scheduling programmes, to procuring resources, preparing materials and helping to facilitate sessions so that participants are fully supported in their learning. You’ll also contribute to quality improvement project development and coordination, working with teams across Prostate Cancer UK to share good practice and expand the reach of our initiatives.
Engagement will be a key part of your role, from maintaining webpages and digital channels to supporting our alumni network through newsletters, communications and opportunities for continued involvement. You’ll help manage our online Clinical Champions learning hub and, with training provided, will also have the chance to coach and mentor clinicians using Insights Discovery (a psychometric tool helping people understand their own and others' behavioural preferences and communication styles).
What we want from you
We’re looking for someone who’s highly organised, comfortable working with people and able to keep several projects moving at once. Strong communication skills are essential, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style to suit different audiences, from clinicians to colleagues across the organisation.
You’ll bring experience in event planning and support, along with project coordination, and you’ll be comfortable managing webpages and creating online content. The role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, colleagues and senior leaders, so collaboration will be second nature to you.
An understanding of the healthcare and/or charity sectors will be valuable, as will experience in presenting and facilitating discussions. You’ll also need excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively when things get busy.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?
The main purpose of this role is to empower a caseload of service users to manage their health and wellbeing, maintain their independence, identify their strengths and achieve their goals and aspirations, under the direction of the Service Manager. This is a 24/7 service and will require you to complete sleep in shifts as well as cooking for service users at the weekends as well. This can result in longer but few days worked but you will on average only work 39 hours per week.

Here's what the team will be looking for
In this role, you will bring experience of working with individuals who have mental health needs and dual diagnosis, gained in either paid or voluntary settings. You will be committed to working in a calm, non-judgemental, and anti-discriminatory way, with an optimistic belief in each client's capacity for positive change. You will take a solution-focused approach, working constructively and collaboratively to address challenges, while using de-escalation skills to support clients who may display difficult or challenging behaviour.
You will also demonstrate flexibility and reliability, with the ability to work unsociable hours, including early, late, overnight and weekend shifts as required by the rota. You will be quick to learn, able to gather and process information effectively, make defensible decisions, and record detailed and accurate information to be shared appropriately within the framework of confidentiality. About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
Last year, 244 people in England and Wales tragically died after being assaulted with a knife. Of these, 32 were children. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even when violence doesn’t strike directly, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s lives.
The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build an exceptional body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed. We then need to work with the right people that can make change happen, across systems, policies and practice, to have a real impact on reducing violence affecting children’s lives.
We can’t do this alone, we have to build and maintain brilliant partnerships across government, with other funders and with wider society. We are looking for an exceptional individual to lead on this work. We also need to have an eye for the future. Our present endowment must be spent down by April 2029. We need someone who can lead on planning for the future.
Key responsibilities
You ensure that we:
· Are ready for the future: Born with a ten-year endowment, the YEF has become the leading authoritative voice on how to reduce violence affecting children. We must spend down this endowment by April 2029, so need to start thinking about after this date. You will lead on ensuring we have a great plan for post 2029. You will spot the best opportunities, assess them and, over time, take them. This includes both building great external relationships and also ensuring there’s a clearly articulated, inspiring narrative – filled with facts, examples and case studies - of what has been delivered to date and what needs to happen between 2029 and 2039 to double down on our mission. To do this, you will orchestrate the expertise and knowledge of colleagues across the organisation – ensuring that what you need comes together perfectly.
· Build and maintain great relationships across government: We have an increasingly large number of relationships across government – providing advice and support on what works to prevent violence. You will be ready to offer advice to colleagues on those relationships where needed. You will build new relationships and maintain them where they are needed so we are ready for the future. You will be really well organised too ensuring that internal colleagues know which relationships they own and making sure that key regular meetings are in place. We have a simple process that tracks these relationships; you will make this process work well for us – with minimum bureaucracy and maximum effectiveness. You will also provide help and advice and coaching as YEF colleagues think through how best to get system changes to happen that will ultimately reduce violence.
· Build great relationships with other organisations that will be key to the future: As the lead organisation on reducing violence affecting young people, we increasingly receive and see a host of opportunities to partner with other organisations including funders on projects, co-funding and research. You will support this work – leading on relationships that are essential in making us ready for the future. You will spot the opportunity, build relationships, bring in other YEF colleagues, pull together key information, write brilliant documents where needed, win others over. In short, you will make great things happen.

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our Development and Alumni Relations team to help guide and deliver ourregular giving and stewardship programmes. The ideal candidate will have experience of running successful major fundraising appeals to large audiences. They will have the ability to draft persuasive and accurate copy to support both fundraising and stewardship literature. They will be highly motivated and creative, driving new initiatives to boost participation, increase overall giving, while also increasing retention of donors through an outstanding, tailored stewardship programme. The Development and Alumni Relations Office leads the process of generating long-term and consistent voluntary income for Merchant Taylors’ School, and forrunning a comprehensive alumni and parental relations programme.

Together, the charities Sands and Tommy’s have formed a Joint Policy Unit (JPU) focussed on achieving policy change that will save more babies’ lives during pregnancy and the neonatal period and on tackling inequalities in loss, so that everyone can benefit from the best possible outcomes.

About Woman's Trust

The Philharmonia is looking to appoint an experienced and inspiring Head of Education & Community Engagement to lead on the day to day running of learning projects, with a firm focus on developing and growing this work. With a proven track record of creative leadership, innovation and producing high quality music education and community projects, successful applicants will be led by a passionate belief in the power of orchestral music to transform lives, whether as audiences or participants.
Centred around our ambition to deepen our engagement in our residencies in and out of London, this role will be responsible for the creative and strategic development and execution of both our long-established programmes (like Hear and Now, and Orchestra Unwrapped), as well as co-creating and developing new, innovative projects addressing real needs in schools and community settings. The role will have a strong direct connection with our Community Boards, the advisory bodies in our residency areas, and the Music Hubs, as partners and co-creators. Candidates should have a progressive and well-informed approach to place-based and grassroots music-making and project creation, and a strong understanding of the latest developments in the music education landscape.
Combining a keen grasp of participant needs, with sound understanding of commissioner and funder requirements, as well as a can-do, entrepreneurial attitude, this is a great opportunity for a senior manager to progress to the next level of leadership within the sector and shape the education and community engagement programmes of a leading orchestra.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:

Undertake research and mapping as required to ensure that projects and programmes respond to local and regional needs and is distinctive and complementary in the context of other providers.

Keep abreast of educational policy and practice at national and regional governmental level, ensuring that project development is aligned with current thinking and strategy.

Develop new bespoke and innovative education and community projects in strategic partnership with local and national bodies, allied to the core work of the Orchestra.
Leadership and Management:
-
Provide creative leadership and direction for the Learning and Engagement Department, reflecting and clearly articulating the Philharmonia’s vision, mission and values
-
Develop and motivate the members of the Learning and Engagement Team, and as required, manage the Learning & Engagement team’s support staff, such as freelance Project Managers, animateurs and musicians

Sustain and strengthen existing partnerships for funding and delivery with key stakeholders including other NPOs, Local Authorities, Music Education Hubs, community groups, arts organisations and venues, private and public development agencies and schools, colleges and universities.

Represent the Orchestra on the Strategic Boards of appropriate bodies in London and residencies (for example, music hubs)

Ensure that key national and regional stakeholders have a detailed understanding of the Orchestra’s Learning and Engagement work, as well as ensuring effective and constructive communication with artists and musicians engaged in the Philharmonia Orchestra’s Learning and Engagement Programme

Represent the Philharmonia Orchestra at external meetings and conferences, as required, acting as an advocate and ambassador for the Orchestra.

Lead and manage the Safeguarding for the Orchestra, ensure that the Philharmonia Orchestra’s safeguarding policy and procedure is up to date and effectively implemented, including taking responsibility as the Philharmonia’s Designated Safeguarding Officer; ensure that all relevant staff and freelance practitioners have current DBS checks.
Programme Management and Delivery:

Oversee evaluations of all projects to share outcomes with stakeholders and partners and to learn lessons for developing and delivering future projects.

Agree and manage budgets for the Learning and Engagement Department

Commission and oversee production of project-specific marketing materials.

Help to develop and support the Orchestra’s Audience Development Strategy, in close partnership with the Marketing Director.

Oversee all aspects of project management, planning and production of the various projects and workshops which make up the Philharmonia’s Learning Programme

Skills and Qualifications
Essential:

Minimum five years’ experience in a relevant role

Knowledge of the education and community learning landscape

Experience with managing and monitoring budgets

Experience with producing and devising large scale, education, community or participation projects

Excellent communication skills, with a personable and approachable style

Experience of reporting tools and data visualisation, ideally for funders

Passion and interest for music and the arts, with an excellent understanding of orchestras and classical music repertoire

Ability to read music and orchestral scores

Ability to lead, mentor and train a team

Willingness to have a hands-on attitude

Approved Premises (APs) work with high-risk people released from prison, providing a vital element in public protection arrangements. APs offer a level of contact, support and supervision within the community that is unique within the Criminal Justice System. This is an opportunity to be part of a dedicated, enthusiastic staff team at our male Approved Premises in Battersea, playing a key role in pro-social modelling, rehabilitation and community reintegration for those ready to make positive choices.
Working closely with Probation Officers and other community services such as police, health, housing and substance misuse, we provide a stepping stone from prison into the community.
As a member of the Approved Premises team, you will model pro-social behavior and foster a positive, respectful culture with both clients and colleagues. You will actively engage with residents, supporting communal activities such as meal preparation, and contribute to the delivery of individual sentence plans in collaboration with probation officers, police, and external agencies.
Your role will involve providing administrative and practical support, ensuring daily tasks are completed, and following all operational protocols. You will encourage compliance and enforce rules relating to curfews and drug and alcohol testing as required. Keeping colleagues, multi-agency partners, and management informed is essential.
You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the health, safety, security, cleanliness, and well-being of the premises and residents, utilizing tools such as CCTV, observation, and direct personal contact. Accurate, timely record-keeping and appropriate information sharing with respect for confidentiality are critical components of this role.
Using your initiative, you will identify and address additional tasks or emerging issues, working within the service to maintain an enabling environment. Adherence to the Approved Premises Manual, Hestia policies, and relevant justice service requirements is expected, alongside consistently demonstrating The Hestia Approach.
This role involves working closely with high-risk offenders transitioning from prison to community life, providing a unique level of daily support, supervision, and tailored interventions. You will empower residents to take responsibility for themselves while maintaining appropriate boundaries and supervision. The position operates on a rolling rota covering early, late, weekend, and night shifts to ensure continuous support and public protection.
