Our Senior Substance Misuse Worker works alongside members of the support team to create a safe and welcoming environment within a psychologically informed environment. You will contribute to the development of the recovery hub, by providing expertise in alcohol and drug misuse. Taking a lead role in delivering training/ advising staff on substance misuse issues, liaison with substance misuse agencies, facilitating multidisciplinary case conferences and negotiating access to detox and treatment services. Carrying out assessments of drug and alcohol usage with key clients, delivering brief and extended interventions, outlining risks, advice on harm minimisation and refer to specialist agencies.
You will also conduct surveys of residents view and opinions, assist with audits and reporting on the service, help to ensure compliance with regulation and best practice, and work with a Support Team which promotes person centred coproduced approaches.
You need to have experience of working with homeless people with complex needs, have a good understanding of strengths, needs, and risks they experience. Be competent with computer systems, and comfortable completing regular performance reports. The Senior Substance Misuse Worker is a day shift based role with evening and weekend working.

About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated, organised and experienced sports and challenge fundraiser, to deliver a review of our sports and challenge events programme, identifying new opportunities to grow our income.
Working closely with the Head of Individual Giving and Fundraising Campaigns, you will develop strategies and bring new ideas to grow and develop this programme, potentially including community events – to deliver significant growth in income over the next 5 years.
In this feasibility review, you will analyse our past performance including in well-established, externally organised activities such as marathons and third-party challenge events, and our partner events such as the Terry Fox Runs. You will also assess the feasibility of developing and launching our own-branded events.
During the review, you will line-manage the Sports and Challenge Events Officer to maintain and deliver our current successful events programme and work together on the feasibility review to identify new opportunities for innovation and ways to increase participation.
You will build key relationships across the department and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation, to identify and work through new ways to grow participation and increase fundraising income.
At the end of the review, you will present your findings, making recommendations on the key components for a future sports and challenge programme that reflect our ambitions for growth, with plans to deliver it.
This is initially a fixed term project contract. There is potential for the role to become permanent dependent on the direction and outcomes of the review.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will lead a review of our sports and challenge events programme, including third-party activities such as marathons and challenge events, using data to analyse past performance (income and ROI) and assess the feasibility for developing our own-brand sports, challenge or community events – whilst maintaining the success our current programme of activities.
You will:
- Review, develop and prepare plans to deliver a profitable, engaging and effective annual programmes of sports, challenge and community event opportunities.
- Be responsible for managing the annual available sports marketing budget and contributing to annual budget planning.
- Create innovative new sports and challenge events, designed to attract and retain supporters and develop plans to launch these on time, and to budget.
- Work with Communications and Digital teams to develop comprehensive marketing plans to promote our events, secure participants and increase levels of engagement.
- Work with your team to set targets and monitor progress of fundraisers – and manage their participation in cost-effective ways, to maximise return on investment.
- Support your team to provide excellent stewardship and supporter experience, with pre and post event contact, to encourage repeat participation.
- Collaborate with Development teams to cross sell and identify leads for fundraisers from other areas of fundraising, such as major gifts, corporate, appeals and legacies.
- Be responsible for managing and the personal development of your team, to deliver their campaigns and activities, to agreed objectives and KPIs.

You’ll be a confident, motivated, self-starter who is passionate about using your fundraising experience and skills to make a difference to the lives of people with cancer. You’ll be a strong communicator with good interpersonal skills and creative flair, who enjoys working with a wide range of people, to bring new ideas and initiatives to life.

But without fast treatment, leprosy can cause blindness and disable hands and feet. Rejection, isolation, hopelessness. We believe that this is not how God wants people to live. We are looking for an inspirational communicator to be the face of The Leprosy Mission. You’ll be working from home, with extensive travel across your region. Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) is the only UK charity dedicated to raising awareness of economic abuse and transforming responses to it.
Since our founding in 2017, we’ve proudly campaigned successfully for the recognition of economic abuse in UK law and influenced wide-ranging systemic change to transform responses to it. We're now entering an ambitious new phase, and we’re seeking a dynamic, strategic and values-led Head of Income as part of the Senior Leadership Teamto help drive it forward.
This is a critical time for SEA. With a bold three-year strategy now in place, we’re looking for an experienced income-generation leader to oversee and diversify our income streams — across high-net-worth giving, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, and earned income through consultancy and training. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Income will play a vital role in shaping the future of the organisation and enabling us to scale our impact.
The Head of Income will lead a talented team, including our Senior Fundraising Manager (trusts and foundations) and Corporate Development Manager (strategic multi-stakeholder partnerships), and collaborate closely with our CEO, Trustees and earned income delivery teams (consultancy and training) whilst also being hands on in relationship development. Your approach will be collaborative, survivor-centred and driven by SEA’s values. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with strong experience in high-value fundraising and/or commercial income generation.

Job Overview
As the Advocacy Manager, you are responsible for crafting our influence strategies on international development and humanitarian issues, using IRC’s programmatic and research evidence, surgical policy and practice solutions, and trusted brand to inspire collective action. You are the go-to expert for understanding current political and policy trends in the UK and how our policies support or clash with political agendas. You contribute your fresh insights and analysis to inform IRC’s influence approaches, tactics, and messages.
Major Responsibilities:
- Advocacy Strategy: Lead and deliver advocacy strategies, collaborating with policy leads, public advocacy and communications colleagues, to advance IRC’s key advocacy objectives.
- Influence Analysis: Develop power maps for key policy issues to identify influence priorities and targets. Work with team to support development and execution of creative influence strategies, including with nontraditional partners encouraging IRC to develop innovative approaches to advocacy as usual.
- Stakeholder management: Support efforts to build IRC’s credibility, profile and relationships by engaging with political stakeholders and supporting opportunities to raise IRC’s profile at key meetings and events.
- Political and Policy Tracking. Expand IRC’s political reach by tracking and analysing shifting government positions, individuals engaging on our issues, and the politics around our issues. Translate policy asks into political asks. Track political processes and profile opportunities / events; including bills, select committee inquiries, and other parliamentary and political developments. Analyse and report on relevant political and policy trends and regularly communicate across external relations teams.
- Policy Engagement: Contribute to policy generation by providing UK specific analysis that increases the credibility and efficacy of our solutions. Support IRC’s policy team in identifying and developing policy priorities that are impactful and achievable for the UK.
- Communications: Provide market and audience expertise to communications team to craft public advocacy in the UK. Support team in developing communications strategy and develop materials for advocacy targets, including digital/social content and take actions. Support planning and implementation of strategic activities including events.
- Spokesperson: Act as an IRC spokesperson and as a key interlocutor with political stakeholders.
- Teamwork: Support a positive team culture by acting openly and collaboratively, supporting colleagues in their work and sharing credit with others where appropriate.

Job Requirements:
Work experience:
- Demonstrated experience in advocacy strategy development with a focus on creativity, strategy, and critical thinking. 5-7 years of experience working on complex humanitarian, and/or development issues.
Demonstrated skills and competencies:
- Proven success in creating and implementing strategies that influence/impact on legislative and executive policy.
- Deep understanding of relevant the UK’s political structures and processes, and familiar with leverage points within these institutions that can be targeted to achieve policy change objectives.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively, being oriented towards solutions when traditional advocacy means do not suffice.
- Extensive knowledge of international development issues, and an understanding of nutrition policy and advocacy is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate successfully with experts, high level decision-makers, and colleagues in the humanitarian and development fields.
- Excellent writing skills and the ability to translate sophisticated material and data into coherent narratives that resonate with policymakers.
