What you’ll do:
✅ Running a large, high density shop efficiently and profitably, maximising sales, Gift Aid, and round-up donations
✅ Managing visual merchandising, stock rotation, and product display to the highest standards
✅ Overseeing the effective sorting, pricing, and presentation of donated goods
✅ Leading and inspiring a team including an Assistant Manager (3 days/week), a Sales Assistant, and a team of volunteers
✅ Organising staff and volunteer rotas to ensure adequate cover, including on weekends
✅ Providing excellent customer service and handling queries or complaints professionally
✅ Monitoring financial performance, managing shop expenses, and ensuring compliance with audit and cash handling processes
✅ Ensuring full compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, GDPR, and equality policies
✅ Acting as an ambassador for the charity in the local community and supporting fundraising events
What you’ll need:

As Operations Manager, working closely with the CEO, you’ll oversee the day-to-day running of organisation across our 2 main premises and in other community venues. The Community Engagement Officer is an essential role in fostering strong relationships with current and prospective members of the School Library Association community. The postholder will provide frontline support, drive online and in person engagement through outreach initiatives, and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the membership base. Coordinating and supporting our Branch network, you will collaborate on initiatives for development, delivery and new projects as they come online. You will be the first port of call for advice and expertise relating to school libraries and enabling our members to more effectively support their school communities. As resident children’s book expert, you will help with initiatives such as the SLA Information Book Award and member book related events. Supporting the delivery of online and in-person networking events and workshops for members, you will work with your SLA colleagues, in particular the Training and Events Officer, to deliver a high-quality member offer and to ensure member needs are reflected in all offerings. The ability to travel to training and events across the UK is essential. Duties include:
Branch network and member support
- Support the SLA Branch Network and member outreach
- Identify opportunities for developing initiatives to grow and develop the Branch network community, that will deliver on the SLA mission
- Develop strong relationships with local, regional and national stakeholders to support network growth and enable members to take full advantage of all relevant opportunities available to them
- Provide advice for SLA members on all aspects of school libraries, ensuring they are supported and can be as effective as possible in their school communities
- Drive engagement and development of online communities as part of the branch network
- Coordinate the mentoring scheme and ensure it is promoted effectively, with necessary support and development available to mentees and training for mentors
Training and events
- Support the development and delivery of a calendar of online and in-person networking and engagement events and workshops
- Represent the association at relevant events and for programmes (e.g., conferences, webinars, book awards)
- Support development of training programmes, toolkits and resources using member insight to inform
Outreach and communications
- Use sector insight to identify opportunities for development of research and other initiatives, maintaining links and horizon scanning
- Provide SLA consultancy aligned with strategic approaches, supporting schools with development of their libraries, reading and information literacy provision to help children and young people reach their full potential
- Contribute to SLA communications such as TSL, newsletters, updates, and promotional materials
- Oversee the book review process in support of TSL, our quarterly journal
An ability to foster collaboration and community engagement will be an important part of this role. All team members contribute to office admin, maintaining member data and general office support.
To be successful in this role you should ideally be able to demonstrate:
- experience of working in school libraries, the education sector and a strong understanding of the education landscape
- strong knowledge of children and young people’s literature across the age ranges

The salary for this position is £19, 594.59 (FTE £29,000) for 25 hours per week, and comes with a 6% employer pension contribution.

About the role:
EJF seeks a dynamic and highly organised individual to join our expanding Environmental Defenders (ED) programme. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as we scale up support for grassroots leaders who protect our planet and defend interlinked human rights.
Working closely with the Global Programme Coordinator, the ED Programme Officer will enable EJF to deliver tailored training on advocacy, investigation, and filmmaking to environmental defenders worldwide. This starts with supporting the coordination of our new Ocean Defenders project alongside EJF’s teams in Southeast Asia and West Africa.
As an effective multitasker and skilled coordinator, you will lead the operational and logistical elements of our capacity-strengthening programmes. You will build and maintain strong relationships with our partners, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, tailored support. The role requires excellent planning abilities, a strong attention to detail and a passion for helping others.

Key responsibilities:
Taking instruction and guidance from the Global Programme Coordinator (and in her absence, a named member of the Senior Management Team), the Environmental Defenders Programme Officer will:
● Plan and organise in-person (and remote) support for environmental defenders – leading on scheduling, budgeting, logistics and other administrative elements of the EJF support.
● Support the implementation of the capacity-strengthening programme, following up with colleagues and partners to ensure continuous progress towards deliverables.

Essential experience and skills:
● Experience coordinating logistics for international trips, events or complex projects.

The Centre for Justice Innovation is looking to recruit a creative, pragmatic and committed individual to help the Centre promote criminal justice reform in the UK, including championing and supporting the implementation of evidence-based specialist and problem-solving courts in the justice system.
The Practice Officer will work directly with frontline practitioners, such as probation, police, court staff and specialist 3rd sector practitioners, to test new approaches and embed evidence-led interventions. This includes supporting the expansion of specialist and problem-solving approaches at court that seek to address the underlying issues that lead to offending. Amongst other responsibilities, the Practice Officer will undertake a range of tasks including (i) designing and delivering training and practice sharing workshops; (ii) developing briefings and toolkits that support the spread of good practice; and (iii) identifying and convening practitioners and others who are interested in specialist and problem-solving approaches at court.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to support and influence frontline practice, motivate others and solve problems. Operational experience within the criminal justice system is essential.

CAAS provides an Autism and ADHD Support Service across the 8 boroughs of NW London from our base in Eastcote and offices around London. We offer information, advice, and support to ADHD/Autistic people, their families, and professionals, with the aim of improving quality of life and building neurodivergent-aware communities.
In this role, you will join the established CAAS adult team to support, educate, and empower ADHD/Autistic adults (diagnosed or self-identified) across NW London.
You will:
· Provide one-to-one information, advice, and practical task-based support.
· Facilitate online and in-person peer groups, courses and workshops sessions.
· Help develop resources that increase understanding of ADHD/Autism and pathways to support.
· Signpost to local and national services, community groups, and specialist support.
· Work with professionals to share good practice and promote reasonable adjustments so services are more accessible to ADHD/Autistic adults including delivering short training sessions to professionals.
The role requires:

Front of house support and referrals process
The Specialist Adult ADHD/Autism Advisor (SAAA) will be expected to answer both written and telephone enquiries from members of the public about CAAS services, with a warm and welcoming style, so clients feel comfortable to attend our services.
SAAA will be expected to welcome visitors to the centre and provide information about CAAS and The SAAA will provide front-of-house support, welcoming visitors, answering queries, and managing the referrals process, including CRM updates, triage, and liaising with referrers.
CAAS offers a wide range of adult services, so SAAA will be expected to proactively support clients in accessing the appropriate services and provide consistent follow-up and communication.
Other Responsibilities - Wider support
The SAAA will be expected to contribute to the support and empowerment of ADHD and autistic adults and their families in a range of other ways, such as:
· Build and maintain strong relationships with local statutory and voluntary services, particularly within health, social care, and social prescribing teams.

The Team
We are a diverse and welcoming team of advisers, who use a wide variety of creative methods to deliver personalised, client centred, personal careers guidance, ranging from one-to-one sessions through to group guidance, parents and options evenings, as well as focused talks and assemblies. We have minimal admin and keep our clients’ experience central to what we do, providing an inclusive service with individualised action plans, including the use of visual career maps, career cards and white boards, alongside more traditional approaches where appropriate.

The team is led by Chris Targett RCDP, who alongside his work at CXK, is the current Chair of the Careers Writers Association and co-author of the recently released Career Development and Inclusive Practice book, published by Trotman Publishing in partnership with the CDI.

The Role
The Careers Adviser will travel across Kent, Medway, West Kent and Mid Kent Regions to a broad range of school and college settings, delivering creative and inclusive Personal Careers Guidance, as well as assemblies and drop-in sessions as required.
Each student and each learning environment will be unique, so the opportunity lends itself well to candidates who enjoy traveling and working in varied locations, meeting people from diverse backgrounds, and educating people of all abilities.
You will routinely liaise with Careers Leaders and senior school/ college staff to arrange and deliver activities for students during the school day. Whilst most delivery will take place between 8:30am and 4pm, travel before and after these times will be required and occasional attendance at parents’ and options evenings will also be required, but you will be given time off in lieu where this is applicable.
We would require you to work five days-a-week, term time only, with a pro rata holiday entitlement. If you would prefer part-time only employment (minimum of three days a week), this can be negotiated.

Minimum Criteria
- Level 6 (or above) Careers Guidance Qualification
- In possession of a full, clean UK Drivers Licence with access to your own vehicle
Essential Criteria
- Experience of delivering CEIAG in schools / colleges, face-to-face with young people Enthusiasm
- A willingness to deliver activities during school timetables; occasional evening events rebalanced via “time off in lieu.”
- Knowledge of Post 16 and Post 18 education and training routes for young people with and without additional needs and disabilities
- Adept at juggling activities and travel, emails and routine project admin; balancing school site work with homebased preparation and admin
- Experience of Microsoft products and ability to use them effectively, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- A commitment to undertake all necessary training for the role

Location: Hybrid working from our Reading office and home - with service delivery in Berkshire and surrounding areas including West London.
Contract: Permanent part time – 26 hours per week over 3.5/4 days between Monday and Friday.
Salary Ranges: Social Worker - Salary in the range of £23,929 to £29,246 pro rata per annum (full time equivalent £34,053- £41,620 per annum). Senior Social Worker - Salary in the range of £27,611 to £33,745 pro rata per annum (full time equivalent £39,292- £48,022 per annum)
About the role:
Our Social Worker/Senior Social Worker’s role is a pivotal one within our Adoption service. Some of your responsibilities will include:
· undertaking ‘home study’ assessments (PARs) and present these to the adoption panel
· support families throughout the matching process and once children are placed, up until the Adoption Order
· participating in recruitment activities and training for prospective adopters
About you:
As a Social Worker, you’ll bring a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in childcare social work and as a Senior Social Worker, a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience. You’ll have an understanding of child development and the impact on behaviour of interrupted development. You’ll have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity, equity and inclusion within service delivery.
