As a Marketing Officer within our charity, your role is pivotal in driving fundraising and retail activities. You will:

A project has been established that is currently working with 33 schools and 33 churches in developing discipleship pathways for children and young people in Bolton. One key aspect of this project is the ‘Shades Project’, which focuses on racial justice and faith, supporting schools and churches in developing a culture for all children and young people, regardless of racial background, to thrive and flourish. In response to the exciting growth of the Shades Project, they are looking to appoint a Shades Project Worker to support the growing opportunities for Christian discipleship and to embed the Shades ethos in primary and secondary schools and parishes in Bolton deanery.
The Shades Project Worker will work with the Shades team in primary and secondary schools, delivering Shades Collective Worship and Shades ‘Faith and Identity’ workshops. They will also lead Shades Ambassadors groups for those children and young people who are passionate about growing in their understanding of racial justice, the Christian faith, and becoming courageous advocates. The Shades Project Worker will also work with Bolton parishes and mission communities to promote the Christian message of God’s love for all of his children, encouraging children, young people, and adults to celebrate their God-given identities and to grow spiritually.
The Shades Project Worker will have many opportunities for training and development, as well as the creative freedom to develop initiatives for children and young people. They will work within a highly motivated and supportive team, who are committed to prayer and to welcoming children and young people into the life of the church.
The post holder should have experience of volunteering with children or young people in a church and/or school context. They will have a good knowledge of anti-racism and racial justice and a strong passion for a combined focus on the Christian faith and racial justice, as well as experience working with diverse communities.
To succeed, they need to be enthusiastic, relational, self-motivated, and able to lead in a range of different contexts. They will be creative and able to lead and support activities in schools and parishes. They will be excellent communicators, with good interpersonal skills, sensitivity, and an ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. As Finance & Operations Administrator you will have a key role to play working closely with the trustees and Head of Fundraising & Communications to co-ordinate activities, to ensure day to day operations in the UK run smoothly.
The role as advertised covers a broad range of activities. However there will be peaks and troughs of workload.
This job is for you if you are:
- A qualified accountant or bookkeeper with experience of Xero ideal (training can be provided).
- Confident working with Microsoft Office (Excel & Word) & Shared drive (eg, GoogleDocs).
- Comfortable working with a variety of IT packages, or learning how to do so
- Very organised, able to take the initiative, able to work independently.
- Experienced working in a small but ambitious organisation, or are confident you can adapt to such an environment

In a typical month you’ll:
- Support the Chair of Finance; preparing monthly accounts. Processing receipts and payments for bank reconciliation; invoices and expense claims. Filing finance documentation. Maintian the restricted v unrestricted donation records, Gift Aid schedules, HMRC returns.
- Support the Head of Fund Raising and Communications, liaising with donors (sending receipts, requests for information), researching potential donors, preparing grant applications, ordering brochures and marketing information. Acting as a day to day point of contact.
- Support the Chair and Vice Chair of Trustees; helping to prepare and distribute monthly meeting agendas, supporting papers, co-ordinating virtual meeting schedule, drafting and distributing minutes, .-
- Support the Chair of Governance ensuring Trustee and Staff Handbooks (policies and protocols), risk register, are uptodate and accessible via the website portal. Lead the administration process for the recruitment of trustees and staff, including the preparation of candidate packs, advertising, induction. Oversight of the EFA Partnership Agreements.
- Support the Chair of Educaton re liaison with relevant external auditors (safeguarding, health and safety, risk). Linking with Moroccan partners to agree on timing and arrangements for audit visits. Ensuring reports are available to trustees as agreed.
- General ad hoc support to trustees, staff and external stakeholders as required.

The Role
You will build trust with people the charity is sharing a story on behalf of and foster lasting relationships. You will manage media contacts, seeking out relevant opportunities in the press and work with partners on features.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Lead on storytelling - writing effective and powerful stories to meet the needs of different functions, including fundraising materials, direct marketing, social media, sector reports and events, press opportunities, website features and publications.

What's the role about

- Awareness of the intersectional impact of protected characteristics, the Equality Act 2010 and barriers to people of colour, disabled people and people in other protected groups at work.
- Experience of generating ideas that relate to EDI topics, creating short written or visual content, making information accessible to different audiences as a blog, video, infographic or other content formats.
- Strong administration and organisational skills, including the ability to manage data or records, manage own time and prioritise, create basic project plans and meet agreed deadlines.
- Experience of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and calendar or similar
- Strong IT skills across a range of software including knowledge or willingness to learn using SharePoint to a good standard.
- Experience of working with ethnically diverse groups or networks in a workplace or voluntary setting with a coproduction approach.
