Job description

Just Drop-in are delighted to be looking for a student counsellor to join our experienced and supportive team on placement. We aim to provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to deliver high quality services for young adults who are finding life hard. This exciting role will be at our Macclesfield office with Wednesday evening and Friday & Saturday afternoon all available. We follow the BACP Ethical framework and offer Student placements in accordance with their ‘Good Practice in Action 114 Fact Sheet- Four-way contracting (More information on this can be found in our application pack).

Main Purpose - To provide 1-1 counselling sessions to young adults aged 18-25 years.

Reporting to - Counselling Clinical lead

Hours - 4 counselling sessions a week (as developmentally appropriate)

Length of placement - Negotiable (We would aim to support you in meet your course requirements. Please be aware you may require a second placement if more hours are needed to complete your course in a given time frame).

Person specification

  • We put young people at the centre of our work and so are looking to work with a student counsellor who enjoys and is skilled in supporting and engaging young people, and has a desire to specialise in young people’s counselling post qualification.
  • We are looking for a candidate who shares our values, collaborates well with others and has an ambition to make a difference for local young adults.
  • We ask that you are:
    • Studying an appropriate counselling qualification
    • Nearing or already achieved your ‘Readiness to practise’ certificate
    • Working with a clinical supervisor with appropriate young adult experience o A member of an appropriate governing body.
    • Committed to working within best practice guidance, BACP ethical framework, JDI policies and legislation.
