Your Role as a Fundraiser for Hope for Southall Street Homeless

You will secure £210,000 p.a. to cover the running costs of HSSH.  This will include the salaries of five staff, grant-funding for emergency/ temporary accommodation for guests who wish to return to their home country (currently covered by a Government grant at 100%) and other running costs (eg insurance) and overheads (eg Third Sector body fees). 

Your responsibilities will include : 

Trusts

• To conduct an initial audit of existing Trust and Foundation donors to maintain and maximise potential income from these donors.
• To carry out prospect research using Fundsonline and other established Trust directories to identify new prospective donors.
• To establish a calendar-based pipeline showing submitted and planned applications, with required updates (including scheduled date, name, projected amount, and next action), to ensure timely and targeted applications and follow-up communications with donors (both existing and prospective).
• To monitor and respond to local and wider appropriate grant opportunities.

Corporates

• To scope local and wider district and borough opportunities for corporate partnerships, starting with warm contacts and existing donor networks.
• To build natural, face-to-face, contact and foster deep relationships with new corporate partners.
• To maintain a pipeline (as above) of corporate donors, prospects, communications, and planned approaches.

Community / Individuals

• To work with local community organisations and individuals, including those already engaged with/interested in HSSH and others, to raise awareness of the service, increase existing support, and generate new forms of support.
• To represent/showcase the work of HSSH through local events and forums, emphasising the need for, and the impact of, the service.
• In cooperation with the Social Media Management Group, to produce/ contribute to shared material/social posts profiling HSSH’s work and value, to the community, borough and wider bodies relative to our work.
• To prepare bespoke, scheduled, direct mail requests to individual donors, in the form of letters and e-mails.
• To maintain an up-to date information resource covering the issues relevant to local rough sleepers and migrants, to inform and evidence HSSH services.

Who We Are Hope for Southall Street Homeless (HSSH) is a charity founded in 2015 to provide a permanent night shelter in Southall.  The need for this was identified by the Churches in Southall Leadership Team – at the time part of the wider Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter initiative – due to the high number of rough sleepers in Southall, at the time, over 31% of all Ealing’s rough sleepers.

Summary of the position

Epic is looking for a Development Manager to support the activities of the UK Development Team to help us ‘make giving the norm’.

The Development Manager will work with the UK Director in our small team in the UK, as well as working closely with colleagues in Paris and Brussels. 

This position offers candidates the opportunity to develop their skills across a range of fundraising disciplines including corporate fundraising, major donor engagement, events, and philanthropy. 

This position will work with a deeply engaged team in an international environment. Given the versatile nature of the responsibilities and the small team size, candidates will need to show demonstrable flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to take ownership and work independently.

Key Responsibilities :

With support from the UK Director, the Development Manager will work collaboratively with the Director and wider UK team and Development colleagues in Paris and Brussels to execute the fundraising strategy in the UK. The Development Manager is a key role in a small team, and will contribute new ideas, networks and results to help us meet our income targets and therefore create more positive impact for children and young people globally. More specifically, the key responsibilities of this role are outlined below.

1. Business Development (65%)

• Lead prospect research and outreach efforts to expand Epic’s prospect donor pool in the UK: monitor the fundraising ecosystem, conduct in-depth prospect research and engage in proactive outreach campaigns through LinkedIn, emailing, digital networking and in-person events. This will include attending early morning and evening events as required.
• Set conversion objectives and support conversion from leads to donations
• Identify and secure lead opportunities within networks and events
• Pitch Epic and its various Giving Solutions to potential donors, and build tailored proposals when needed
• Maintain high discipline and consistency in follow-up with leads and donors: use Epic’s CRM to build a consistent pipeline of prospects, as well as maintaining the database with accurate and up to date donor information
• Evaluate and monitor the return on investment (ROI) of events and fundraising campaigns
• Prepare compelling fundraising communications, materials and presentations for donor meetings and events

2. Nurturing & engaging the UK Community (20%)

• Contribute to Epic’s engagement strategy for current donors to ensure an 80% renewal rate
• Maintain regular touchpoints with a subgroup of donors through activities such as sharing monitoring reports, organising project visits and volunteering opportunities in the UK, and scheduling regular calls and face to face meetings. 
• Act as the main point of contact for a subset of donors and answer their enquiries in a timely manner
• Craft and manage engagement opportunities such as UK events and webinars, including drinks, talks, breakfast events, and provide support to the organisation for the annual gala nights. Support will be provided for certain events by our in-house dedicated Events team.

3. Fundraising-related administration (15%)

• Manage donor-related administrative tasks, such as regular use of Epic’s CRM (Salesforce), donation forms, meeting preparation, minutes (where applicable), and 
• Process all donations, using Salesforce and related donation platforms, in a timely manner each month
• Liaise with international fund vehicles, such as Myriad USA, to ensure all international donation commitments are fulfilled. 

Position Requirements :

• Candidate must have the right to work in the United Kingdom
• Excellent level of English (both spoken and written) required
• Proficiency in French (written and spoken) highly desirable 
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a sales, fundraising or business development role, with demonstrable experience of securing 5- and 6-figure gifts
• Experience within the charity sector is desirable but not required
• Experience using software packages such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva and other applications
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to attend external events (including evening events) and comfortable networking with a variety of people across different communities
• Experience with a CRM is required and preferably some experience of using Salesforce 
• Strong self-discipline and project management skills
• Excellent organisational skills and a strong eye for detail

The Epic UK team is a small but dedicated team. The role requires flexibility and a start-up attitude. This is a full time, permanent position, based in the London office with the opportunity for two remote working days each week. This role reports to the UK Director and will involve closely working with Epic’s global development team, as well as with the Engagement, Programs, Marketing and Communications, and Operations teams.

The Role:

The Office Manager and HR Admin will be responsible for overseeing onboarding, health & Safety and human resources functions pertaining to all employees. The role holder will also be responsible for maintaining the office space, administration and any related governance. This role will provide administration support to the Board of Trustees and act as Company Secretary to the Trust. 

Responsibilities:

Office:

• Develop and implement office policies and procedures to ensure smooth operations and compliance with company standards.       
• Ensure the office space meets all Health & Safety regulations, including correct up-to-date H&S information made available to staff via noticeboard or similar.
• Owns and maintains positive and productive relationships with property management and third-party vendors and is point of contact for the building management team in case of any issues and for building information sharing.
• Perform other administrative or office-related duties as required to support the effective running of the organisation.

Health & Safety:

•  To assume the role of the Health & Safety Officer.
•  Responsible for all Health and Safety matters, ensuring that up-to-date legal requirements are met and put in place to ensure the Charity meets the criteria for the yearly Health & Safety assessment.
•  Liaise with building management, contractors, and suppliers and escalate any risks or issues as appropriate.
•  Provide up to date information and documentation to the team confirming First Aiders and Fire Wardens, ensuring this information is kept up-to-date on SharePoint, in the office and relevant documentation

Human Resources:

• Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate communication.

• Responsible for sharing all updates relating to new employee training and employment law updates.

• Administrator to the Board of Trustees.

• Coordinate and schedule all Trustee meetings ensuring all documents are returned ahead of deadlines.

Skill set requirements:

• Proven experience as an Office Manager or similar senior administrative role.

The Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Service Manager provides leadership for the outsourced service desk, IT supply and Site Service Engineering functions of the DDaT team and is the point of escalation for all Barnardo's colleagues accessing services, incident management and request fulfilment.

The DDaT Service Manager is responsible for the delivery of exceptional Site Service Engineering at over 1000 sites and responsible for the delivery of IT Supply services to over 7000 colleagues across the UK. The Service Manager also owns and operates the outsourced Service Desk via the current partner relationship, working in collaboration with internal technical teams. The Service Manager will report to the Director of Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) and is a member of the DDaT Leadership Team.

Continuous improvement of services, ownership of the service catalogue entries, effective self-help documentation and assets, are core activities of the role, alongside ensuring the delivery of excellent business as usual services, and ownership of key transformation initiatives. Fiscal management of delegated budgets, accurate forecasting are key success factors of the role.

The post holder will be responsible for engagement with all stakeholders, aligning working practices with the DDaT Operating Model, identifying improvement opportunities and all other similar practices to grow the function.

Managing a team of five across fundraising, communications, special projects and data management, the successful applicant will lead the development of partnerships and campaigns to raise funds for Dementia Adventure’s unique work to support people with dementia and their carers to have a more active and fulfilled life by getting outdoors and experiencing the benefits of nature. 

You will provide strategic leadership and direction for income generation through various fundraising disciplines and joint fundraising partnerships, ensuring the charity's diversification of funding and financial sustainability. Funding sources include major grantmakers, trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, challenge events, and an individual giving campaign.

Hand in hand with leading fundraising, you will oversee the Communications team, supporting, developing and monitoring the communications strategy, associated budget, resources, systems, processes and operations. This will involve overseeing and directing a communications plan promoting the work of Dementia Adventure to a broad range of audiences through various channels and campaigns, along with increasing online and social media presence.

About you
We are looking for someone to join the charity’s Senior Leadership Team who will bring experience from their past successes and provide inspirational strategic leadership and direction to the fundraising and communications functions in support of the Dementia Adventure business plan, charitable mission and objectives. The successful applicant will have a strong, successful track record of fundraising and/or other forms of income generation in the charity sector, including management, with proven experience in meeting financial and non-financial targets. You should be able to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including trusts and grant givers, corporates, major donors and other individuals. Philanthropy Implementation Manager

Charity People are thrilled to be recruiting for a large and prestigious organisation to help strategically drive their fundraising, particularly philanthropy. The is a critical role in the organisation to ensure that philanthropic income is implemented in line with donor expectations and ensuring any obligations are stipulated in gift and grant agreements. The Philanthropy Implementation Manager will play an active role in developing and delivering gift implementation improvement projects, acting as a pivotal person between fundraising and finance teams across the organisation. The role is key to ensure that fundraisers are securing gifts in line with departmental policies. The role will also have a particular focus on programme management, ensuring that gifts are advertised and implemented.

The successful postholder will quickly build strategic relationships with key internal stakeholders that will support the work of Fundraising and Supporter Development team, supporting fundraisers working in Major Gifts, whilst not directly involved in the work, you will be able to provide advice and guidance to staff working within these income streams, as well as work with the Business Support Officer to support the management of securing philanthropic gifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with fundraisers and colleagues in the Supporter Operations and Donor Relations teams, to ensure that philanthropic gifts are correctly implemented in line with the donor's expectations and the terms of their gift agreements.
• Work with key internal stakeholders to ensure the funding is used correctly and pledge payments are fulfilled.
• Design complex gift implementation strategies.
• Develop and monitor systems that ensure fundraiser compliance with policies and procedures relating to the implementation of donations. This will also include supporting the Philanthropy Team in monitoring gifts in stewardship, highlighting any gifts requiring re-solicitation.
• Use relationship management techniques to ensure that the relevant stakeholders are notified of any changes or delays to gift implementation. For example, capital builds, recruitment of key posts, progress in research projects.
• Support the Philanthropy Team and wider Directorate in managing business processes, developing processes, and review of key gift documentation, that will support future implementation of philanthropic donations.

You will bring:

• Ability to work independently and to prioritise work effectively and accurately within a regular schedule of tight deadlines
• Experience of designing and implementing new policies or procedures
• Experience of donation administration
• Ability to quickly build effective working relationships

Reporting to the Digital Manager, you’ll be part of the Digital team, working alongside the Content & PR team and Campaigns & Marketing team.

You will be joining at an exciting time for the organisation. Following the recent merger of St Barnabas House and Chestnut Tree House with Martlets Hospice, and the appointment of a new CEO for the group, you will play a vital role in the Marketing & Communications team, managing a portfolio of websites which are at the heart of everything we do.

You’ll be responsible for managing, developing and implementing a leading online presence for Southern Hospice Group with exceptional website experiences through secure, accessible and brand aligned websites and donation platforms. These will empower audiences and drive increased support for the charity.

Part of the role involves building strong internal relationships with colleagues in the team, as well as various key stakeholders across the organisation to ensure website content is optimised, up to date and aligned with the charity’s communications strategy, digital strategy and business plan. You will also work with external suppliers including website development agencies and platform developers.

As well as managing the websites, you will play a key role in developing and implementing a data driven, audience focused content strategy to enhance the online visibility of the hospice websites. You will manage the project to implement a new website for the organisation within the first few months in the role.

You’ll be able to demonstrate proven experience in website management, ideally at a non-profit, the ability to interpret and monitor data to deliver reports and a keen eye for design with experience in developing content and graphics for web. You’ll also need to be an excellent copywriter and proofreader.

Essential criteria

• Proven experience in website management, ideally in a non-profit environment.
• Editorial experience: adept in writing copy for web, adapting copy to suit the audience and tone required.
• Experience of WordPress, Shopify or other ecommerce platforms desirable.
• Experience of interpreting and monitoring Google Analytics and producing reports.
• Experience of delivering creative, user-led, and accessible web experiences for marketing and fundraising campaigns, in a busy environment.
• Skilled in developing graphics for web – Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign/Canva.
• Knowledge and experience of implementing best practice, SEO, accessibility, and mobile optimisation.
• Ideally, demonstrable working knowledge of A/B testing methodology.
• Excellent digital project management skills: delivers projects to brief, on time and to budget. Prioritise projects and tasks appropriately.
• Proven ability to think strategically and translate concepts into effective action plans.
• Knowledge of web regulations/standards and their application in a charity context.

We are looking for a dynamic, self-starting and motivated individual who will work as the sole fundraising staff member in a growing team for a small youth mentoring/mental health charity that is based in Oxfordshire. We are currently a team of around 10 working in schools in Oxford and the surrounding area. 

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a fundraiser, with prior experience, who is passionate about youth mental health and wellbeing, and who wants to make a real difference to the life chances of children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The role is offered initially on a contractor basis and is based on hourly pay at £25/hour. It is initially a fixed-term, one year role but this, together with the hours and the basis of the role are negotiable for the right candidate after the first year.
