HR Advisor

Reports to: Head of Operations.

Responsible for: No direct reports at this time.

Location: Office at Bayfield near Holt with opportunity for flexible working. However, it is important that the role holder is able to build culture and employee experience and be demonstrably participative in office life and organisational culture development. Visits across Norfolk and surrounding catchments with mileage expenses £0.45 per mile.

Job term: This is a permanent 0.6 FTE position. The appointment is subject to a six-month probationary period.

Hours of work: 22.5 hours over a minimum of three days between Monday and Friday. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, for which time off in lieu can be taken. No overtime will be paid.

Annual leave entitlement: 25 days (pro rata) plus public holidays.

Salary: £36,874.00 - £41,019.00 (pro rata) dependant on experience

Pension: NRT offers a contributory pension scheme and will pay 9% of salary subject to 6% employee contribution.

Driving licence and vehicle: All applicants must have a full driving licence and access to their own transport with business insurance.

As Norfolk Rivers Trust’s first dedicated HR professional, the HR Adviser will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing effective people practices that align with the organisation’s culture, values, and strategic objectives. Collaborating closely with the Senior Management Team and Line Managers, the HR Adviser will offer expert guidance and operational support across the entire employee lifecycle.

This standalone, hands-on position requires a proactive self-starter who is confident in establishing new processes and adaptable to the needs of a small but growing organisation. The role is diverse and dynamic, ranging from advising managers on complex employee matters, enhancing recruitment practices and updating policies, to leading wellbeing initiatives.

Above all, the HR Adviser will be instrumental in nurturing the Trust’s positive, values-driven culture, making it an exceptional place to work. Acting as the central point of contact for all people related matters, the HR Adviser will also support the Senior Management Team in developing and delivering a long-term people strategy.

Although standalone, access to an external professional HR sounding board, HR advice and link to employment law advice will be available.

Role purpose

To generate sustainable income and grow our community of supporters through regional fundraising campaigns, community fundraising, local trusts and corporates, and regional membership recruitment. This role also supports project-specific giving, ensuring alignment with our priority impact areas, such as raising awareness, patient services and glaucoma research.

Key responsibilities

Fundraising & Income Generation

• Deliver regional fundraising appeals and campaigns aligned to local services.

Marketing & Communications

• Provide regional case studies, stories, and testimonials.

• Collaborate closely with our local outreach teams to ensure relevance of fundraising activities:

The Role

Finance

• Responsible for processing all income in SAGE from various platforms reconciling income to bank statements.
• Responsible for processing monthly/annual journal and accruals

About the role

The Restart Project is a year into our five year strategy. We have a bold vision, clear finance and communications strategies and an outline fundraising strategy, developed with support from our trustees. Our vision and track-record has helped us to secure a number of multi-year grants, and now is the time to build on this work. 

We’re looking for a driven, organised and creative Fundraising and Partnerships Lead to help us diversify our income, expand our funding relationships, and build on our financial sustainability.  With a focus on generating income from corporate partnerships and Trust and Foundation fundraising, you will also support our efforts to generate income from a diverse range of areas. 

You will build out our pipeline of funding leads, including building and managing new and existing relationships.  Much of this will include securing funding from traditional sources and supporting efforts to boost unrestricted income. 

You will also have the opportunity to be innovative in pursuing funding for the organisation. This will involve working with the Co-Directors and other team members to develop and secure funding for exciting new projects. Responsible for expanding income within an underfunded sector, creativity and drive will be essential characteristics.

Job Description

Fundraising strategy 

• Build on our existing finance strategy and outline funding plan to create a robust fundraising strategy for the next 2-3 years.

• Work with the broader team to achieve the goals and targets set out in the finance strategy to support Restart’s overall operational strategy.

• Develop and manage a 12 month rolling fundraising pipeline, including regular horizon scanning. 

• Work with team members to ensure Restart’s impact is well communicated to potential donors.

• Work with our fundraising committee, a sub group of our trustee board, to help shape our future fundraising strategy.

Corporate partnerships

• Secure income from corporates by boosting Restart’s visibility and increasing the frequency of high value donations.

• Create corporate sponsorship packages to secure income for existing Restart activities or projects, as well as general organisational sponsorship, and pitch them to a pipeline of corporates. 

• Work with the Co-Directors and other staff to develop funded corporate or other partnerships around innovative projects that will support Restart’s strategy.

• Research, pitch and secure opportunities for Charity of the Year affiliations.

• Ensure that partnerships are managed well, with good reporting and value for partners to ensure retention. 

Trusts and Foundations 

• Be responsible for submitting bids, tracking and reporting on outcomes with the support of our Operations and Finance Lead.

• Help broaden our pool of funders, including building and maintaining relationships made through allies, and networking with funds that don’t accept unsolicited proposals.

New sources of income

• Support the team to develop income from other sources. This will include matched crowdfunding, paid events and consultancy. 

• Explore other ways of securing income and funding relationships.

We are looking to appoint a Family Support Worker for a fixed term period of up to 12 months, on a full time basis (35 hours per week) to deliver a high-quality family support service as part of our Essex Care Team.

Reporting to the Family Support Manager of the Essex Care Team and working in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for providing needs-led emotional, social and practical support to families where a child/young person has a life threatening or terminal illness.

Having worked in a stressful and emotional environment you have a genuine interest in building supportive relationships and helping people; and having provided bereavement support to families, you understand processes of grief, loss and change - and how best to help others deal with its impact.

What you'll be doing:

In this role, you'll work closely with the Senior Manager Prospect Research and Head of Relationship Development. You'll use your experience in proposition development to shape strategic direction and shape and plan core activities for delivery.

Being an effective communicator, you'll build strong relationships across RNIB, translating our strategic plans into compelling propositions about core work and exciting new opportunities for income generation.

You'll work closely with fundraising colleagues across the Strategic Relationships & Philanthropy directorate (including Major Donors, Trusts, Statutory and Lottery, and Corporate Partnerships) to develop an understanding of funder/donor needs and motivations and advise on how to best connect them with the exciting and innovative work of RNIB.

About the role

The Centre Manager - Retail and Café Operations will drive commercial performance, manage staff and volunteers, ensuring profits contribute to and support our mental health and wellbeing initiatives.

You will be responsible for and oversee the Retail and Café operations at Mayfield Garden Centre and line management of the Horticulture, Retail, Gifting and Café Teams.

You will ensure both retail and café operations deliver excellent customer service and profitability, working closely with our Marketing Team to raise awareness, increase sales as well as encourage and convert new customers.

You will work closely with Mayfield’s wellbeing services to ensure alignment and that the Solent Mind ethos is at the forefront of all sales, events and activities.

About you

You will have extensive experience and insights in the garden centre industry, in retail management and horticulture as well as experience managing café or food service operations.

You will need a strong commercial record of meeting sales targets that can be evidenced.

You will need to have knowledge of buying, stock control, understanding health and safety and food safety regulations.

You will have excellent communication skills, ability to provide key and timely content for marketing and line management experience.
