Students4Students is a member led national organisation which has c.100 members split across 4 branches. As a CIO it has a duty to engage with members and provide members the opportunity to elect trustees and hold the leadership to account for decisions at an AGM. Historically these AGMs have been ill attended and election of Trustees have been decided by a small number of members who hold branch committee positions. We are seeking Social Media Volunteers to assist our Social Media Marketing Team in creating and distributing engaging content on Hidayah’s social media platforms. Social media is integral to connecting with the Hidayah community, growing our organisational reach and promoting events such as our Queer Book Club, in-house research and educational resources for Ramadan.
We also use our social media platforms to post adverts for volunteers, promote Hidayah’s membership, respond to world news via solidarity statements and signpost LGBTQI+ Muslims to a range of national and international support.
You do not need to be LGBTQI+ or Muslim to be able to carry out this role. However, it is important to have a broad knowledge and understanding of these areas to be able to genuinely engage with the specific audience that follows Hidayah’s social media platforms.
What are the key responsibilities of this role?
Our Social Media Volunteers have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Creating and editing content to distribute across Hidayah’s social media platforms e.g. TikTok and Instagram
- Communicating with other volunteers and the Social Media Marketing Trustee on feedback, suggestions and issues
- Carrying out independent research to obtain quality content and sharing relevant information on Hidayah’s platforms
- Actively engage with people following us on social media
- Promoting events and projects as and when appropriate

About DAISY
DAISY is a collection of disability and mental health focused arts organisations which promote and celebrate the great artistic work being created in Surrey. The organisation strives to develop the South East as the lead region in the UK for disability and deaf cultural activity, making Surrey a welcoming and inclusive place for all artists to practise. The Role
In this voluntary role, you will be joining our five other Directors - Laura Jones (Co-Artistic Director of Stop Gap), Hayley Bull (CEO of Bloomin’ Arts) and Julie Hoyle (Artist) and Leah Zakss (Freelance Arts and Music Consultant), Cara Flowers (Artistic and Managing Director of DAISY) - to help DAISY to raise awareness of the incredible art being created in Surrey by Disabled Artists.
Having recently launched a number of new initiatives and under different management, DAISY is entering a new phase of its development and growth and as a Non-Executive Director, you will have the chance to make a real difference to the Disabled Artists we work with. We are looking for a number of people to join our board with, ideally, a background or interest in one or more of the following: finance, fundraising, organisational development, governance and the arts. DAISY is currently in the process of transforming from a Community Interest Company (CIC) with a board of Directors to becoming a registered charity (CIO). When this happens, the Directors will then become Trustees.

Alpine Garden Society President and Board Chair person
Thank you for expressing interest in joining the Board of the Alpine Garden Society as our President and chair. You do so at an exciting time for the charity as it seeks to embed recent changes to thrive for another 90 years.
Since our founding in 1929 we have been a specialist interest society that has aimed to share our passion for growing and conserving alpine plants. With the increased pressures on society with smaller gardens and the advent of social media, alpines are enjoying a resurgence and so we wish to see the society grow from the strong foundations of the past.
The last five years have seen us adapt to change and develop to the modern society we are today. Our switch to embracing digital technology and use of modern communication has allowed us to harness the decades old love of our interest and bring it to new audiences on a global stage. Welcome to the Alpine Garden Society! We are one of the largest specialist garden societies in the world. The Society has a wide interest in plants that encompass not only true alpine and mountain plants, but also small hardy herbaceous plants, hardy and half-hardy bulbs, hardy ferns, hardy succulents, and small shrubs. We are passionate about plants.
The Alpine Garden Society was founded in December 1929. The main purpose of the Society was, and still is to educate its members and the public on alpine plants, their cultivation and conservation. We achieve our charitable objectives through staging our National Shows, publishing our quarterly Journal, The Alpine Gardener and by organising talks, events and conferences. Ever since its inception the Society has also built displays incorporating alpine plants at various national Flower Shows.
We are passionate about the conservation of alpine plants and as a registered charity, we fund cultivation and conservation projects across the UK and abroad. We also encourage the development of knowledge and skills in the alpine field by funding the AGS Trainee Scheme.

Role Responsibilities and Duties (three year term)
The President/Chair of the Society has a dual role. In addition to having the same responsibilities as any trustee they also have to act as a team leader with the extra duties and responsibilities that accompany this role.
General responsibilities of the President/Chair
Providing leadership for the board as it fulfils its governance duties and responsibilities toward the organisation, including :
- setting vision, values, mission strategy and high-level policy in accordance with charity regulations and the governing document
- monitor the organisation's performance against established targets
- securing financial stability for the organisation
- assisting the Treasurer to protect and manage organisation property and investments
- safeguarding the organisation's reputation and values
- must guide the Board to ensure that the Society operates in line with its charitable purposes
- must always act in the best interests of the organisation as a whole and not allow any personal interest to sway policy making
- making sure all organisational activities comply with regulations and the law
- reviewing major risks and making provisions for the organisation to respond appropriately
- appointing and managing the Chief Executive Officer (Society Director)
- organising and leading board development activities such as self-assessments

Specific duties:
Meetings
· planning meeting schedules and setting agendas, in close liaison with the Society Director
· leading meetings and facilitating discussion, encourage all trustees to participate and prevent the more talkative members from dominating the debate
Board leadership
· Alongside the society director, lead trustee recruitment and induction
· Ensure that the whole board is engaged - A Chair must not allow cliques or inner circles to form or allow cliques to influence policy to suit their own personal interests or those society activities in which they are interested.
· Utilise the skills and interests of all board members.
· To oversee the establishment and activities of the board committees, ensuring they are accountable and report properly to the board.
· Deal with conflict on the board
· Give direction to board policy -making. Exercises leadership by setting priorities for the board and steering discussion toward strategic issues

Representing the organisation
· Represent the organisation at functions and meetings (both internally and externally), and acting as a spokesperson as appropriate
Financial & legal responsibilities
· The President must be prepared to be a signatory on the Society bank mandates and other official investment documents.
Limited Companies
· Act as a Director of each limited company and also a signatory on the bank mandate forms.
· Undertake the necessary ATOL training and pass the certification process to be the responsible person ATOL holder on behalf of the limited company. This also involves ensuring that the necessary ATOL quarterly returns are accurately completed and submitted on time to the CAA. In addition to ensure that the correct documentation and renewal forms are completed as part of the annual ATOL licence renewal process.
· Ensure that the necessary insurance policies are in place with regard to AGS Expeditions Ltd.
· Assist and advise with the planning of AGS Tours.
Staffing
· Work closely with the Society Director who acts a the CEO to the Society. Both the Director and the President should liaise regularly and work together as a team on behalf of the board. They should jointly seek ways of improving board effectiveness.
· Recruitment - oversee the selection process when a new Society Director is appointed. This will entail ensuring that an appropriate job description is produced, proper selection procedures are followed and also representing the board on the appointment panel.
Renumeration
The position is a voluntary role although all reasonable expenses in pursuit of exercising the role will be covered

Summary of BAPEN
BAPEN is a Charitable Association that raises awareness of malnutrition and works to advance the nutritional care of patients and those at risk from malnutrition in the wider community. The charity brings together the strengths of its Core Groups and committees to raise awareness and understanding of malnutrition in all settings and provides education, advice and resources to advance the nutritional care of patients and those at risk from malnutrition in the wider community.
Responsibilities of a Charity Trustee
The Charities Act 2011 defines Charity Trustees as the people responsible under the Charity’s governing document for controlling the administration and management of the charity. They are known collectively as the Trustee Board. Under charity law the trustees have the responsibility for directing the affairs of the charity, ensuring that it is well run and delivers the charitable outcomes for which it has been set up.
The Treasurer will be an existing BAPEN member who wishes to take up a volunteer role on the BAPEN Board of Trustees and, with the support of the BAPEN office and the other board members, will be integral in ensuring that it fulfils its obligation to provide financial oversight for the charity.
Role and information
The Treasurer will be supported by the Board of Trustees and the BAPEN office who act as the secretariat and will provide comprehensive support with administration and finance to enable the treasurer to carry out the following tasks:
Draft and present annual budgets, financial statements, reports and annual accounts to the Council and the wider membership at the AGM, with the support of the finance expert in the BAPEN office.
Work with the BAPEN office and the Board of Trustees to ensure that the financial resources of the charity are sufficient to meet its present and future needs.
Ensuring that current policies, including investment, reserves and finance policies are kept up-to-date, working with support from the Board of Trustees, and to monitor investment activity.
Work with the BAPEN office to ensure that existing accounting procedures and controls remain appropriate and are in place.
Work with the Trustees to identify the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plans and contribute to the fundraising strategy.
Make investment recommendations in line with the aims and objectives of the charity.
Ensure that the accounts are prepared and disclosed as required by the Charity Commission.
Work with the BAPEN Accountants to ensure that the accounts are scrutinised in the manner required (independent examination or audit) and any recommendations are implemented. Independent auditors are currently in place.
Keep the Board of Trustees and the committees informed about their financial duties and responsibilities.
Approve supplier payments, expense requests, monitor income and expenditure against budget and work with the BAPEN office to report on variables.
Work with BAPEN’s appointed legal support surrounding contracts and other legal matters when required.
The Treasurer is registered as the Caldicott Guardian for BAPEN.
A significant shadow period with the current Treasurer will help ensure a positive learning opportunity to gain confidence in this role. Comprehensive administration support as well as finance advice and expertise will be always at the Treasurers disposal. Support will also be provided on policy, budgeting, and strategy from the Board of Trustees.
BAPEN will also fund bespoke Financial Trustee training to equip the successful candidate with all the necessary skills to fulfil the role. The training can be delivered online or in person and support will be provided on an ongoing basis.

Our mission is to help and support homeless and vulnerably housed people in and around the London Borough of Merton. We operate a twice-weekly Drop-in, currently welcoming 50-60 individuals each day, while our Winter Night Shelter provides a warm, dry place to sleep every night during the coldest nights of the year – this winter from 4 December until 10 March 2024.
Our current Secretary is retiring, having completed the maximum of nine years in the role. We’re now looking for an enthusiastic and committed volunteer for the role which covers the following positions:

The Company Secretary & Secretary is a volunteer with an active role in the work of the organisation. The Faith in Action Merton Homelessness Project (FIAMHP) Board of Trustees, Company Secretary & Secretary, together with senior staff, form the Management Committee of the Charity.
Company Secretary’s responsibilities:
The Company Secretary keeps the organisation legal by:
• Working with Trustees to ensure that the Charity complies with its Articles of Association, charity law, company law, employment law, and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
• Ensuring that the Trustees are aware of the requirement to comply with relevant codes such as the Code of Conduct for Charity Trustees and the Charities Governance Code, and that these are adhered to.
• Ensuring that the Articles of Association reflect the current work of the Charity, liaising with the Charity Commission and Companies House as appropriate if an update is needed.
• Liaison with Treasurer as needed.
• Filing annual Confirmation Statements and other Company Returns including the annual Trustees Report & Accounts with Companies House and the Charity Commission by the due dates.
• Advising Companies House and the Charity Commission of changes to Company and Charity details by the due dates – this includes Trustee appointments and resignations.
• Maintaining the statutory records.
• Monitoring the composition of the Trustee board, and liaising with the Chair and other Trustees to ensure that new Trustees are recruited as necessary, so that all roles needed are covered. Organising new Trustee applications and interviews, and obtaining references.
• Organising and running the Annual General Meeting, and any other General Meetings required.
• Any other duties which may reasonably arise.
Secretary’s duties
The job of the FIAMHP Secretary is to assist the Trustees in the smooth running of the organisation by:
• Organising Management Committee meetings in consultation with the Chair and other Trustees: setting meeting dates and venues; producing meeting agendas, receiving and sending out meeting notices and papers, checking that meetings are quorate, taking meeting minutes, liaising with the Chair and other Trustees as necessary; sending out draft minutes.
• Assist with liaison between Trustees, Staff and Volunteers as needed.
• Awareness of the work of the organisation and the needs of its guests and service users.
• Ensuring that decisions and actions of the Board of Trustees are accurately recorded and implemented.
• Maintaining an appropriate and secure filing system so that all Trustee papers are retained and accessible.
• Assisting with Business Plan development and the Trustees’ Annual Report as required.
• Ensuring that Policies and Risk Register are filed and accessible to all who need access.
• Tracking progress with implementation of the organisation’s Business Plan.
• Ensuring that any correspondence for Trustees is brought to the attention of the Board.
• Any other duties which may reasonably arise.

The treasurer has responsibility for the financial affairs of the charity and works closely with the board and the CEO to safeguard Children with Voices’ finances.
The treasurer will have:
·General financial oversight.
·Be responsible for financial planning and budgeting.
·Reporting as required to all statutory bodies, the board of trustees, the CEO and operational managers of the charity.
·Give financial advice to the trustees.
·Ensure that the charity functions within the legal and regulatory framework of the sector and in line with the governing document.
·Arrange the compilation and agreement of the trustees’ annual review and the annual report of accounts.
While work may be delegated to a subcommittee or paid staff, the treasurer will exercise a supervisory role to ensure that all the financial responsibilities are met.

About the role.
Following the decision of our current Chair, the Solihull College & University CentreCorporation welcomes interest from candidates who have the time, passion, experience, and interest to become a Governor and our Chair Designate in summer 2024.
Initially joining as the named Chair Designate, with time to engage in an extended and supportive handover period through the 2024 autumn term, we look forward to welcoming the person appointed as Chair of Solihull College & University Centre from early 2025.
The Chair provides leadership to the Corporation and its members, working closely with the Principal & CEO and the Director of Corporate Governance, Risk & Compliance. Supported by two Vice Chairs, the Chair ensures Governors have oversight of organisational development and are made aware of risks affecting strategy, finance, staffing, student experience, or reputation, through receiving plans and reports from the Principal & CEO and her senior team.
The Corporation is comparable to a board of non-executive directors and is composed of members from the local community, stakeholders, students and staff members.
Actively involved in long-term visioning and approving the educational character of Solihull College & University Centre, the Chair ensures Governors’ diverse skills, areas of specialist knowledge, networks, and professional opinions are used for the advancement of the organisation and in the most appropriate way.
With up to 19 Members of the Corporation, plus two External Members, the Chair ensures professional engagement between the Corporation and both employees and learners, through both formal means (meetings) and informal opportunities (such as events and visits).
Governors help the organisation to maintain a long-term focus whilst working on its shorter-term goals and plans. The day-to-day management is very much the responsibility of the Principal & CEO, and the executive management team. The Corporation is advised by a Director of Corporate Governance, Risk & Compliance who is part of the senior leadership team.
There are seven meetings of the Corporation throughout the academic year (September through to July). In addition to this, there are additional meetings of the Search & Governance Committee, the Audit & Risk Committee, the Remuneration Committee, and the Financial Oversight Group. Opportunities for Governors to participate in visits and meetings with students are arranged throughout the year.
It is expected that – with preparation for meetings, regular contact with Governors and both the Principal & CEO and Director of Corporate Governance, Risk & Compliance, plus any ambassadorial duties and training – the person appointed should plan to spend up to five days per month fulfilling the duties of the Chair.
Who we are looking for.
To be successful in this non-executive Chair role, we believe it is important that the person appointed brings experience in strategic leadership. When considering the requirement to be the ‘critical friend’ for a chief executive of a complex £50m business of education and training, set across several campuses and operating across the West Midlands, having a Chair with skills and knowledge which supports the development of the Principal & CEO, the executive team, and the broader Corporation and its members, is important.
Ideally, our next Chair will be an experienced non-executive, and know from experience the difference between operational leadership, and strategic oversight and scrutiny. The application of this knowledge will be welcomed, so that we may continue to benefit from the mutual respect that exists between the non-executive and executive representatives at the College.
If the person appointed doesn’t have direct experience of being a non-executive director or board member, then we will expect them to be able to demonstrate their ability to chair well and know how to get the very best out of a talented and committed voluntary non-executive group.
More than experience, we need a Chair who is passionate about the work that we do to transform the lives of our learners and provide opportunities to help shape their futures. 1. Lead the Board in fulfilling its responsibility to protect the financial integrity of Healthwatch Bucks.
2. Provide support and guidance on financial matters to the Chief Executive and their Team.
3. Represent Healthwatch Bucks with key stakeholders as required.
Financial Integrity
The Honorary Treasurer leads the Board in protecting the financial integrity of Healthwatch Bucks by:
● Chairing the Finance Committee and, on its behalf, making recommendations to the Board.
● Keeping the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities, ensuring understanding of financial planning and budgeting and current and forecast finances.
● Monitoring and reporting the organisation’s financial health regularly to the Board in line with best practice, complying with its Articles of Association, financial legislation, statutory requirements, contractual obligations and necessary insurance cover.
● Ensuring that the organisation has and complies with up-to-date financial policies and processes including Risk Management, Reserves, Business Continuity and Financial Management & Internal Controls.
● Monitoring cash flow to ensure financial sustainability.
● Ensuring that financial transactions and reporting meet the conditions of contractual and other agreements with commissioners, funders, partners and sub-contractors.
● Acting as signatory or co-signatory in accordance with the scheme of delegation in the Financial Management and Internal Control processes.
● Presenting the financial accounts at the Annual General Meeting and overseeing the preparation of the accounts for statutory submission.
Support & Guidance
The Honorary Treasurer shares the duty of all Board Members to ensure effective policy making, strategic planning and monitoring of the performance of Healthwatch Bucks. Additionally, the Treasurer has specific responsibilities supporting the Chief Executive to ensure that:
● Financial planning processes are maintained and that available financial resources are appropriate to the aims of the organisation.
● Healthwatch Bucks has an effective strategy for generating and accounting for commissioned and donated income to achieve its objectives and manage its expenditure.
● The Board receives all necessary advice on the financial implications of strategic plans and projects.
● The Board is presented with budget statements, management accounts and financial information at all key points in the planning and budget cycle and that issues are outlined in a coherent and easily understandable way.
The Financial Management and Control Policy is kept up-to-date and implemented throughout the organisation.
● Proper procedures are followed for preparing, presenting and filing the annual financial statements.
● The recommendations of external financial advisors are reported to the Board and acted upon.
● Equipment and assets are appropriately recorded, depreciated, maintained and insured.
Representation
The Honorary Treasurer will, as appropriate:
1. Liaise with staff and contractors responsible for the financial activities of the organisation.
2. Represent Healthwatch Bucks with commissioners and sub - contractors, partners, Healthwatch England, bankers and members.
3. Act as a spokesperson or signatory for the organisation.
4. Liaise with the independent examiner on the annual management letter and related Board representation.

What will you be doing?
Governing bodies are responsible for the strategic management of a school and will make decisions about a wide range of issues
The core responsibilities involved are:

- Providing support and challenge to the schools senior leadership team
- Monitoring and evaluating the school’s progress

The governing body is usually split in to a small number of committees, each responsible for one area such as finance or pupil achievement. What are we looking for?
You don’t need any specific skills or experience to be a school governor. You must be over 18, but you don’t need to be a parent or have experience working in education. Often, it’s the outside perspective you can bring that a school needs.
Professional experience in areas such as HR, finance, law, or project management are all useful to a school. But soft skills such as leadership, communication, and problem solving are also great additions.
What difference will you make?
Governors make decisions that affect schools for years to come. Our recent impact survey found that our volunteers bring £9.9 million worth of value to schools each year, and 9/10 volunteers would recommend being a governor to a friend.
As a governor, you can visit the school to gain an understanding of the culture and ethos and to get the most out of the role. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet children, parents, and teachers, and see the impact of your work first-hand.

Sound governance requires more than simply ensuring that the books balance and that the Principal & CEO is getting on with the business of running the organisation within the parameters established by the governors. Colleges must be able to respond to changes in direction of government policy and anticipate changing needs in their communities. The Corporation must be actively involved in reviewing the role of the College and in planning and managing change to ensure the long-term health and success of Solihull College & University Centre.
