What will you be doing?

We seek three trustees with SEND education, HR, or adult social care experience to join our Board. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who will bring enthusiasm and commitment to the role and broaden the diversity of thinking on our Board.

Much has changed since our founders started the charity over 50 years ago. We have grown enormously, and we know that there is still much to do.

We recognise the challenges for children, adults and their families and will work with them as partners to find solutions and create opportunities through tailored learning and support.

It is thanks to the continued hard work and dedication of everybody involved in our charity, that we can deliver new opportunities for the children and adults we support.

Today, we employ over 400 people across the South of England, and our future plans include a programme of engagement with organisations to share the benefits of employing autistic people as well as expansion of our autism and SEN college, Futures.

We want to show to the outside world that we are accessible and relevant to the autistic community, particularly those audiences or organisations which we may not have reached until now.

Charity Trustee

Do you feel passionately about holistic healthcare for children? Could you shape
strategy and help us to achieve our mission?

The Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy is an established charity that aims to teach, research and
provide the highest possible standards of osteopathic treatment for babies and children up to 18
years, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Established in 1991, the organisation is now at a key point
in its development and seeks new Trustees to help forge ahead.

As a member of the Board of Trustees you will be responsible for the overall direction, vision and
strategy of the Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy and its clinical arm, the Osteopathic Centre for
Children. We are looking for candidates who can bring ideas, experience and good judgement to help
set our objectives, as well as an ability and enthusiasm to help the organisation take on future
challenges.

We are looking to appoint individuals who share our values and would like to involve themselves in
the organisation, playing a key role in our successes.

Renumeration & Time Commitment
This role is voluntary and unpaid but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. The Board of Trustees

About Vocal Advocacy

Vocal is a small independent advocacy organisation operating in South and West Devon including Torbay, that helps adults with communication difficulties to understand and exercise their rights, make informed choices and speak up for themselves. Our main activity is one-to-one advocacy, however we also offer services including training, person centred planning and independent quality monitoring or care packages.

We have a reputation locally for the high quality of its services. We hold the national advocacy quality mark.  We may be small, but we are effective, enthusiastic and innovative. 

What will you be doing?

We are all dedicated to ensuring that the aims of the organisation are achieved and that people's rights are upheld. One of the trustees has been on the management committee, in various roles, since the organisation was founded 29 years ago. Their hard work was recognised when DeVA selected them for ‘trustee of the year winners’ at the Devon Community Foundation volunteer of the year awards ceremony. Our Board needs to encompass a wider range of skills, especially around strategic planning and marketing in order to drive the success of our development project. What are we looking for?

We are looking for passionate people to join our Board. You don't need to have a background in health and social care or in supporting people who have a learning disability, but you must share our passion for ensuring people's rights!

We particularly wish to broaden our skill base of the Board to support our Chief Officer through the development of the organisation.

Key areas are skills in income generation, strategic and business planning, marketing and communications. We would welcome a Trustee with finance/ accountancy background to take on the Treasurer role in due course.

In terms of planning for the future, our Chair would like to have a succession plan in place, should she decide to step down in a few years time, and it would be good to recruit trustees who might be interested in and be suitable future leaders for the charity.

As part of our Board, you will support and shape our work and strategic direction, as well as help us achieve our purpose to ensure wide ranging and easily accessible advocacy is available to people with a learning disability in South Devon and Torbay. Girls Not Brides is the only global organisation uniquely focused on creating and sustaining a worldwide movement to end child, early and forced marriage and unions (CEFMU). This is a neglected global issue affecting over 12 million girls annually. Trustees wanted for Nantgarw China Works Museum

Nantgarw China Works is home to the finest porcelain ever produced. It was established in 1813 and produced porcelain that has achieved international fame before producing earthenware for daily use until 1920. The site was rescued from total decay in 1990 but many of the Scheduled historic structures remain in urgent need of care. Today the China Works is a museum displaying the history of the porcelain and pottery produced at the site, a working pottery where three ceramicists are based (one of whom produces porcelain items from the rediscovered recipe of 1813), and a major teaching institution running some 500 workshop sessions in heritage crafts. The site is a popular venue for local groups and societies as well as an increasing number of coach tours.

Since 2007 the Museum has been operated by a charitable trust which determines the strategic directions for its development. It is staffed by volunteers who carry out a wide range of duties under the oversight of our Strategic Development Manager. After considerable growth over the past decade, we are now focussed on the steps necessary for expansion and sustainability. We are currently seeking to achieve Accredited Museum status and in line with our vision and the conclusions of a recent Options Appraisal exercise are working on developing a multi-million-pound application to ‘transform where the world’s finest porcelain was made into a vibrant centre for ceramic history and contemporary innovation.’

At this exciting time in our history, we would welcome applications to join the existing seven members of the Trustee board. Trustees are unpaid and meet formally six times a year but are expected to develop a close relationship with the site and help in any way they can. Working together, Trustees are expected to:

• Set the strategic framework and direction to enable the Museum to deliver benefits to the public, to achieve its goals and to flourish
• Ensure that the charity is carrying out its purposes for the benefit of the public
• Comply with our governing document and the law

Glenrothes Foodbank are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by the Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger in local communities across the UK. They don’t believe anyone within the community should have to face going hungry, that’s why the Foodbank are committed to addressing poverty and hunger locally, providing three days' worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to individuals referred to them during times of crisis.

The opportunity has arisen for a new Trustees to join the Board of Glenrothes Foodbank, to strategically guide the organisation forward.

The Role of Trustee:

As a Trustee, your role will be pivotal in shaping the priorities and vision for the foodbank. You'll play a crucial part in engaging with strategic planning, developing action plans to drive the Foodbank forward, and ensuring policies and procedures are robust. Working in collaboration with the Board, you’ll oversee the organisation’s operations, manage paid staff members and oversee financial matters, ensuring that the activities of the foodbank are in the interests of beneficiaries.

You should align with Glenrothes Foodbank’s values and have a passion, interest, and commitment to tackling food poverty across Glenrothes and its local communities. We are interested in candidates with skills or experience in the following areas: finance, law (specifically charity law), fundraising, property and estates management, experience leading an organisation. Previous board experience or knowledge of governance is desirable, while excellent communication, teamworking, and interpersonal skills are essential.

The board typically meet 1 evening per month at the Foodbank in Glenrothes. Online attendance can be accommodated, however there is a strong preference that meetings are attended in person.

The Gold Standards Framework (GSF) is seeking new Trustees to join its Board who have business development, finance, charity or fundraising expertise or experience, who might be interested in this area, as well as others interested in social care, education or palliative or end of life care

The GSF is a registered charity and has been the UK’s leading training provider for generalist frontline staff in caring for people in the last years of life for over 25 years. GSF is a practical and evidence-based end of life care improvement programme.

Its aim is to enable a ‘gold standard’ of care for everyone, with any condition, in any setting, given by any care provider, at any time in a person’s last years of life.
