Feeling Strong is an exciting Dundee-based charity with the ambition to improve the lives of young people living with mental health and wellbeing challenges by fostering the skills, confidence and aspirations they need to flourish. Our services are designed by young people, delivered by young people for the benefit of young people, and we believe that this youth-led/peer-led approach is our biggest asset in tackling issues around mental health and wellbeing. We support stable recovery journeys for young people, lead campaigns to tackle societal issues, develop quality resources based on our own research, and tackle the disparity they face in unemployment, underemployment and accessing opportunities like further and higher education.
YOUR COMMITMENT
Whilst the Trustee Board meets for formal meetings 6 times a year, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the organisation more widely, taking part in fundraisers, external events, strategic planning and advising the staff team when needed. The average contribution expected of Trustees is around one - two hours per month.
Work-related travel costs will be reimbursed.

Time commitment
- Five Board meetings per year (in person in Hammersmith west London), plus membership of at least one board sub-committee (four meetings a year online)
- Ad hoc availability as matters arise (by telephone)
- Participate in one strategy away day each year (on a Saturday, usually held in January)

The statutory duties of a trustee
- To ensure the organisation complies with its governing document in the articles of association

The Vacancy
We are excited to announce that we are looking to appoint a new Clinical Trustee to our well-established Board.
This vacancy has arisen as one of our existing Clinical Trustees has reached the end of their tenure and now we are seeking the ideal candidate to fill this position.
As a Clinical Trustee you will be required to provide expert guidance to our Board and will act as support to our Director of Care. You will often be required to act a sounding-board for the Julia’s House Team in matters impacting our Clinical Care and Team.
You will work alongside our other Clinical Trustees in respect of Clinical Governance providing input and advice around Clinical matters.
You’ll also build a strong relationship with the rest of the Trustee Board and Senior Leadership Team at Julia’s House.
Qualifications/Experience:
Proven experience of working within a palliative care environment, ideally at a Senior level.
Children’s palliative care not essential but advantageous if you have it.
Application of sound judgement and collaboration with others is key to the success of this role.
Terms of office
- Trustees are appointed for a three-year term of office, renewal for one further term to a maximum of six years.
- This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
Time commitment
- Attending four Board meetings annually, typically scheduled in the evening.
- Attending four Clinical Governance meetings a year, typically scheduled in the evening.
- Attending annual strategy and training days.

Help Steer a Life-Saving Service: SOS Bus Norwich Seeks a New Chair. A strategic leader to help steer this volunteer-led charity making sure the nighttime community of Norwich is safe, healthy, empowered and protected.
About SOS Bus
SOS Bus Norwich is a multi-agency initiative offering a safe space and frontline support to anyone in need during Norwich’s nightlife. Staffed by trained volunteers and medical professionals, it provides help with illness, injury, emotional distress, vulnerability, or getting home safely. The bus acts as a crucial first point of contact for anyone whose well-being is at risk.
What will you be doing?
You'll be taking over from the current Chair, Dr Jamie Mather. He and his fellow founding trustees have established the charity, its identity, processes, governance and strategy and this is an opportunity to work with a refreshed board and an amazing volunteer team as they move onto the next stage of their journey.
Alongside the responsibilities of a trustee the Chair will:
· Plan and chair board meetings (or appoint a deputy if absent), ensuring they are effective and purposeful.
· Provide leadership to help the board meet its governance responsibilities.
· Act as a key spokesperson, alongside the operational manager.
· Ensure trustees receive accurate, timely, and clear information (with support from admin and advisors).
· Promote unity and constructive discussion among trustees.
· Support and liaise closely with the operational manager.
· Lead the operational manager’s appraisal and, if needed, recruitment of senior staff.
· Serve as the link between trustees, management, and volunteers.
· Take urgent or strategic action between board meetings when required and authorised.

Time Commitment

CHAIR OF TRUSTEES

Penair is a large progressive and innovative single academy trust secondary school wishing to develop an outstanding culture and provision. We are seeking a Chair of Trustees, with the knowledge and skills to support and help drive sustained improvement, to join Penair School from September 2025.
Penair is looking to recruit a Board Chair to succeed the current post holder who is retiring from the role after 10 years. We are interested in applicants with a range of skills and leadership experience. Experience in the education sector is not essential. The role’s focus is to oversee the following key functions of the Board:
· strategic leadership of the academy trust - the Board defines the trust vision for high quality and inclusive education in line with its charitable objects. It establishes and fosters the trust’s culture and sets and champions the trust strategy
· accountability and assurance - the Board must demonstrate robust effective oversight of the operations and performance of the school, including the provision of education, pupil welfare, overseeing and ensuring appropriate use of funding and effective financial performance and keeping its estate safe and well-maintained
· engagement - the Board has strategic oversight of relationships with stakeholders. As such, trustee governors must involve parents, schools and communities in a way that demonstrates decision-making is supported by meaningful engagement
· governance – trustees must apply the highest standards of conduct and ensure robust and effective governance arrangements are in place, critical for effective financial management
The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate a successful track record in delivering across these areas.
Penair is a ‘Good’ school, confirmed by Ofsted inspections in 2017 and again in March 2023 — with a steadily growing number of pupils on roll. Over the last five years it has grown from 915 to 1240 pupils. To accommodate demand for places, Cornwall Council has funded the building of a new £4 million teaching block and a dining hall expansion.
Penair is never complacent however, and the success of the school continues to grow and develop under the Headteacher’s accomplished leadership. The ongoing support and challenge provided by the Board of Trustees helps drive this continuous pursuit of quality, in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment.
This is an exciting time to join the school and work with a strong group of trustee governor colleagues. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate the drive, integrity, resilience and capacity to lead the Board in its endeavours to deliver for the children and families of Truro and beyond.

• Developments within the field of palliative care
