Supporting over 750 children and nearly 1,000 families annually, Acorns Children’s Hospice is a vital lifeline for families across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire during unimaginably difficult times.
Palliative care for children aged 0–18 is delivered at Acorns’ hospices in Birmingham, Worcester and Walsall, as well as in family homes and other community settings. Acorns’ holistic, tailored approach is designed to meet each child’s clinical, emotional, cultural, religious, and spiritual needs.
Trust and Foundation income is a cornerstone of Acorns’ fundraising strategy. Income is primarily unrestricted and multi-year – a reflection of the strong, long-standing relationships Acorns have built with funders.
We’re looking for an experienced Trusts fundraiser to provide maternity cover and hit the ground running. You’ll take on a robust pipeline and inherit relationships from a portfolio that includes multi-year partnerships with major funders such as Children in Need and John Martins. With a responsive Data team, access to strong stories, and excellent internal buy-in, this is a rare chance to build on solid foundations and deliver high-impact work.
As Fundraising Manager – Trusts and Foundations, you will:
- Take on a well-established portfolio of trusts and foundations with a combined value of c.£850K, delivering a mix of templated and bespoke applications
- Collaborate closely with an experienced peer Trusts Manager, sharing responsibility for monthly submissions and stewardship
- Maintain and build relationships with existing funders, ensuring excellent reporting and donor care
- Work cross-functionally with the Data, Marcomms, Finance, and Care teams to develop strong cases for support
- Support joint cultivation and engagement events alongside the Philanthropy team
To be successful in this role, we are seeking:
- Experience of personally securing mid to high 5-figure+ grants from trusts or foundations
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging across formats and word counts
- Stakeholder management skills
- Someone highly organised and efficient, who is able to manage a busy workload with autonomy
- A collaborative and supportive team player with a donor-centred approach
- Desirable but not essential: Health sector fundraising experience
This is a hybrid role. Ideally 1 day per week at either Selly Oak, Worcester or Walsall hospice office. There is flexibility - please discuss.

As Trusts & Grants Fundraiser (Interim), you will play a key role in driving income from trusts, grant funders, and statutory bodies to support the organisation. Working closely with the Senior Trusts & Grants Fundraiser, you will identify, research, and approach funding bodies, leading on specific applications and contributing to larger bids.
The organisation are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills, proven experience in bid writing and reporting, and the ability to research and identify new funding opportunities. You’ll be highly organised, confident managing multiple priorities, and able to build strong relationships with funders through outstanding stewardship.

Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser
We are seeking a motivated Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser to secure vital income and build strong partnerships with funders across the UK.
Salary: £30,000 per annum (pro rata for part time hours)
Location: Remote, UK wide
Hours: 30 – 37.5 hours per week (permanent)
About the role
As Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser, you will play a key role in generating income to support our mission of sharing the joy of live music in care settings. You will manage a portfolio of small and medium value trusts and foundations, writing compelling funding proposals and delivering excellent stewardship to strengthen long-term relationships.
Overview of the Job:
- Preparing tailored applications to trusts and foundations in line with organisational strategy and values.
- Managing and developing relationships with funders, providing regular updates and impact reports.
- Undertaking prospect research to identify new funding opportunities.
- Supporting larger-scale applications in collaboration with the Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Manager.
- Working with internal teams to gather data, acknowledge donations, and ensure accurate reporting.
- Contributing to the strategic planning and stewardship approach for trust fundraising.

About you
You will be an enthusiastic fundraiser with excellent written communication skills and an eye for detail. You will be confident in writing creative, persuasive proposals and tailoring them to funders’ priorities. Organised and proactive, you will enjoy building strong relationships and managing multiple deadlines.
Essential skills and experience:
- Proven experience of generating income through trusts, foundations, grants or sponsorship proposals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and engaging content.
- Excellent organisational skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- IT proficiency, including MS Office.
Desirable:
- Experience using CRM databases.
- Financial acumen, with knowledge of preparing budgets.
- Strong research skills for identifying potential funders.
