The Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Team is looking for a Race Equity Officer to co-ordinate and support organisational-wide race equity workstreams and specialist projects included in our Achieving Race Equity Taskforce.

What's the role about

This is a key role working alongside our Project Manager and Senior Race Equity specialist to shape our ways of working to be more inclusive. This will include coordinating activities, supporting taskforce members, researching, create content and training materials with support.

The role would suit somebody with strong organisational and communication skills with a background in race equity work who wants to apply these skills in the conservation sector, or someone with demonstrable coordination/administration skills and EDI knowledge and experience that wants to step into the race equity space.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of coordinating and synchronising resources and people, in the delivery of anti-racist or EDI related activities and events.
• Awareness of the intersectional impact of protected characteristics, the Equality Act 2010 and barriers to people of colour, disabled people and people in other protected groups at work. 
• Experience of generating ideas that relate to EDI topics, creating short written or visual content, making information accessible to different audiences as a blog, video, infographic or other content formats.
• Strong administration and organisational skills, including the ability to manage data or records, manage own time and prioritise, create basic project plans and meet agreed deadlines.
• Experience of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and calendar or similar
• Strong IT skills across a range of software including knowledge or willingness to learn using SharePoint to a good standard.
• Experience of working with ethnically diverse groups or networks in a workplace or voluntary setting with a coproduction approach.
• Ability to recognise and communicate sensitive topics and consider how differences in background and experience might affect how this needs to be planned and delivered.
• Ability to work as part of a team to build trust and strong positive relationships with others, modelling compassion, active empathy and the values of the organisation.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of supporting behaviour change in large and complex settings.
• Experience of working with a Taskforce or group dedicated to achieving race equity or an EDI related area. 
• Excellent knowledge of race equity/equality standards and policies, including best practises within the UK. 
• Experience of responding to race equity/equality issues in the conservation sector.

Our Digital Welfare Officers provide remote welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family, through the use of a variety of communication methods, i.e. Microsoft Teams, webchat, e-mail and social media platforms. As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.

Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.

Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you will use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.

You will play an active role in engaging with local RAF welfare teams, as well as external agencies such as local authorities, health, education, civilian agencies, charities and other military organisations to ensure the best outcome for the service user.

About you

To thrive in this role, you will have relevant experience of supporting adults, families and children/young people. You will be able to take a flexible and creative approach to problem solving. Due to the remote working nature of the role, you will have excellent communication skills to identify and assess the service user’s needs and work alongside them to develop their personal support plan.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong proficiency in Microsoft Teams and a broad computer literacy that includes the ability to work across multiple applications simultaneously. Confidence in recording data into an electronic information management system is essential, as is the capacity to rapidly acquire new software and application skills. The ability to plan and manage your own workload with minimal supervision is a key requirement for this role. Prior experience in using other Microsoft Office 365 applications to a high standard will be advantageous.

It would be advantageous if you have experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes.

This role is homebased in the UK, you must live in the UK to be eligible. There will be some travel required and therefore you will need to be able to drive and have access to your own car.

Stories and Media Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced storyteller to show the impact of live music in healthcare through the voices of the charity’s diverse community. This could be people who have experienced the live music, their family members, health and care staff, musicians or other stakeholders.

The Stories and Media Officer will be skilled at telling stories in different ways for a variety of audiences and channels. They will demonstrate human connection and the power of music to create special moments and memories.

This is a remote, part-time role, offering some amazing benefits!

The Role

You will build trust with people the charity is sharing a story on behalf of and foster lasting relationships. You will manage media contacts, seeking out relevant opportunities in the press and work with partners on features.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

• Lead on storytelling - writing effective and powerful stories to meet the needs of different functions, including fundraising materials, direct marketing, social media, sector reports and events, press opportunities, website features and publications.
• Attend live music experiences to conduct interviews and facilitate photography/filming etc
• Proactively identify and propose opportunities where stories can support and amplify the work of the charity, increasing awareness and supporting fundraising and impact reporting.
• Work within the communications team to facilitate social media and video content
• Manage a database of stories, case studies and quotes

About You

You will have experience of working across organisations to gather powerful and impactful stories and of building and maintaining relationships with different stakeholders. You will have a proven track record of successfully selling stories into local media and of managing stories in a database, including measuring and reporting on campaign performance.

As a member of our Executive Team, you will be responsible for leading our finance, investment, and governance portfolios. The Role

Our goal is to recruit an experienced Director of Finance and Investment who will lead the finance and investment functions for the organisation. This will involve supervising strategic financial planning, including yearly and long-term budgeting and tracking, as well as delivering precise and timely financial projections. You will ensure the external audit and production of statutory accounts are delivered, keeping tight cashflow management, and ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, FRS 102, Charity SORP, and other applicable standards and regulations.

Besides your financial duties, you will also oversee the investment portfolio of the organisation and its subsidiaries, run the treasury and investment system operations of Reall, deal with possible problems affecting debtors' repayment capacity, and comply with rules and regulations.

As a leader in this role, you will also be responsible for developing and implementing robust governance frameworks, policies, and procedures for the organisation and its subsidiaries, providing advice and guidance to the Board of Trustees, senior management, and other stakeholders on governance matters, and representing the organisation in external forums and networks related to governance, finance, and social impact.

You will also be responsible for supervising, coaching, and mentoring a team of finance professionals, promoting a culture of financial awareness and accountability across the organisation, representing the finance function in the senior leadership team and Trustees, and providing strategic advice and input on financial issues and decisions.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Accountant qualification (ACCA, CFA, CCAB or equivalent) with at least 10 years of experience at a senior level
• Strong technical accounting skills, including experience of pulling together Group accounts & Consolidation
• Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
• Experience of managing a loan book or working in a charity or regulated for-purpose business
• Business partnering skills with the ability to raise the financial capacity of an SME
• A resilient, tenacious, flexible, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to motivate a team

Salary – £90,000 - £105,000 per annum dependent on experience

Working hours – Normal office hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. We are open to flexible working patterns subject to the objectives and outcomes of the role being met. We are currently working hybrid with blended office and homeworking with the ability to work up to three days from home most weeks.

Director of Research (Maternity Cover)

The My Name’5 Doddie Foundation has a single, clear vision: a world free of Motor Neuron Disease (MND). In the relentless pursuit of this goal, we are committed to funding research projects to accelerate the development of meaningful treatments, focusing on the projects that are most likely to impact people with MND positively.

The Director of Research is a key position in the organisation that leads our research activities, managing a small team as we invest in a prioritised and focused research portfolio. Working alongside the CEO and senior leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing a research strategy that fits seamlessly with the Foundation’s vision, ensuring we have the expertise and resources required to support our programme and initiatives.

As someone with experience working in a scientific research role, you will have the ability to interpret, analyse and utilise research findings and developments, with a deep understanding of the drug discovery and development landscape. You will be someone who constantly seeks out new research approaches, methodologies and funding models, ensuring that the Foundation remains at the forefront with its innovative practices. Knowledge of the research grants system is essential; we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running. You will care about the impact of our work, developing an excellent understanding of the MND field and placing those living with MND at the heart of every decision you make, while ensuring all funded projects continue to meet our goals and financial requirements.

The successful candidate will be comfortable demonstrating our expertise and position in the MND community and communicating developments, insights and critical milestones both internally and externally.
