The Friendly Trust is seeking a committed and experienced Trust Officer to join our team. This role offers an opportunity to make a tangible difference by supporting vulnerable people to manage their financial affairs and access their rights.

The postholder will manage a varied caseload, providing advice, financial administration, and ongoing support to Service Users and their families. This includes working with welfare benefits, budgeting, and acting as a DWP corporate appointee where appropriate.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering person-centred advice on welfare benefits, financial management, and related matters
• Managing Service Users’ day-to-day finances, including budgeting and expenditure monitoring
• Developing and reviewing individual money management plans
• Maintaining accurate records in line with legal and regulatory requirements
• Building effective relationships with Service Users, families, and partner agencies
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, including the Mental Capacity Act 2005

About you

You will bring:

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in social care, advocacy, or a related field
• Experience supporting disabled people, individuals with mental health needs, or vulnerable adults
• Knowledge of welfare benefits and relevant legislation
• Strong organisational, communication, and case management skills
• Experience of financial administration and record-keeping
• A full driving licence and access to a car

Trusts and other grant-makers are an important source of funding for our charity. As we look ahead, we’re expanding our Trusts fundraising portfolio to meet the growing needs of our programmes. This is where you come in.

As our Trusts Fundraising Officer, you’ll be an inspiring storyteller whose enthusiasm for our work shines through in your writing. You’ll play a key role in researching new funders, crafting compelling funding applications and keeping our supporters engaged with our work. Your work will involve developing case studies and gathering evidence to show the need for our services. This will help secure sustainable funding. You’ll be supported by our experienced Trusts Fundraising Manager to build lasting relationships with funders. Together, you’ll keep them engaged and informed about the positive impact they’re making on the young people we support.

The Trusts Fundraising Officer must be self-motivated, well organised, able to multi-task, have good administration skills and understand the “power of the outdoors”.  Paid or voluntary experience in a fundraising environment is essential.  This is a great opportunity for somebody looking to take the next step in their career, with plenty of scope to develop your skills and experience within a supportive team. Whilst the role is home-based you must live in the South West to ensure easy access for in-person meetings.

The Charity

At the Youth Adventure Trust, we use outdoor adventure to empower vulnerable young people from Swindon, Wiltshire and Somerset to fulfil their potential and lead positive lives in the future. We work with them to build resilience, develop confidence and learn skills that will last a lifetime, helping them to face the challenges in their lives. Dedicated support, guidance and mentoring from our staff and volunteers ensures young people receive the maximum benefit from our long-term intervention. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people. All our services are provided completely free of charge to the young people who are nominated by schools and other youth organisations to take part.

What We’re Looking For:

• Outstanding communication skills – You can write clearly, persuasively and passionately. You’re confident speaking to others about the charity’s work.

• Writing experience – You have experience writing successful funding applications, proposals, or compelling articles, ideally but not necessarily with a  fundraising focus

• Fundraising experience - You may not have written a grant application before but you should have some paid or voluntary experience in a fundraising capacity.

• Attention to detail – You take pride in your work, have a good eye for detail and a thorough approach.

• Creativity - able to put together eye-catching proposals, impact graphics and social media posts.

• Self-motivation and organisation – You’re able to manage your own time and prioritise effectively.

• Passion for the outdoors and youth development – You understand the importance of giving vulnerable young people outdoor experiences and are willing to put on your waterproofs and join in on our activities and camps to witness first-hand the difference the Youth Adventure Trust makes.

• Willingness to learn - if you think you have what it takes but don’t have lots of experience as a Trusts Fundraiser, this role comes with plenty of scope to develop your writing skills and gain experience within a supportive team environment.

Location: Any Refugee Action office (London, Manchester, Bradford). We will consider a UK-based hybrid working option.

We are a national charity with more than 40 years’ experience of empowering people who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes to secure the protection and support that they need to live with dignity and respect and build a new life in the UK. About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Trusts and Foundations Officer to join our fundraising team and drive income growth from trusts and foundations. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident communicator who is passionate about making a meaningful impact, particularly in supporting refugees and people seeking asylum.

You will play a key role in identifying and securing new funding opportunities, building strong relationships with funders, and developing compelling proposals that secure support for our work.

• Understanding of how the UK’s hostile refugee protection and asylum system impacts those affected by it. 
• Ability to develop new income generating opportunities through effective prospecting skills to build a robust prospect pipeline.
• Demonstrable experience in relationship development and account management of trusts and foundations, with the skills and ability to quickly build rapport with all levels of seniority through articulate and persuasive communication skills.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to write compelling and inspirational funding bids to secure five/ six-figure gifts.
• Target driven with experience of securing new income and meeting KPIs.
• Excellent financial and budgetary skills with proven ability to develop budgets and understand funder finance reports.
• Ability to organise and plan own work, juggle competing demands, and establish clear timelines and priorities to meet deadlines.
• Passion and motivation to raise vital funds to support refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK.
• Commitment to positively contribute to Refugee Action’s work to become a truly anti racist organisation and remove barriers to power.
• Experience and understanding of cultural diversity and the ability to work with people from a range of different cultures.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Join ShelterBox's high-performing Philanthropy & Partnerships team in a role that is all about ambition, collaboration and impact. As Trusts and Foundations Officer, you'll be at the forefront of supporting and growing ShelterBox's trusts and foundation partnerships - helping the team to build and nurture relationships, inspiring long-term support and sustainable income in line with the organisational strategy, helping to deliver more emergency shelter for families whose lives have been devastated by disaster.

With a loyal and varied portfolio of partners, including family and corporate foundations, this role is your opportunity to support the Trusts and Foundations Manager and Senior Philanthropy Manager to grow ShelterBox's trust and foundation income. You'll research new prospects, draft proposals and reports, ensure due diligence and help to grow our pipeline of prospects, turning creative ideas into long-term, multi-faceted partnerships that drive real change.

You'll work with the Trusts and Foundations Manager to help steward existing relationships, so partners feel valued, engaged and inspired to continue supporting ShelterBox's lifesaving work. You'll also identify new opportunities, drafting and supporting proposals which help ShelterBox stand out from the crowd.

You'll report directly to the Trusts and Foundations Manager, collaborate with the wider Philanthropy & Partnerships team and be backed by colleagues across the organisation. Together, you'll maximise opportunities which deliver powerful partnerships and help shape the future of trusts and foundation partnerships at ShelterBox.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with a commitment to team working. You must have experience producing impactful content for different audiences and strong writing skills which help proposals leap from the page. We are seeking an excellent communicator with great attention to detail, proactive and diligent. You will play a key role in building strong relationships, including managing a portfolio of smaller trusts and supporting the wider trusts team with high-value funders.

You must have strong research skills, excellent organisational ability, with experience in using a CRM or other digital platforms to manage workflow. You should also enjoy copywriting, crafting proposals and creating updates for our partners.

This position is for someone looking for a role where their research and writing skills can make a difference. It is a perfect opportunity for an enthusiastic and articulate Trust Fundraiser who wants to play a pivotal part in helping communities around the world rebuild after a disaster.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

• Manage a portfolio of Trust and Foundations that have an income less than £100,000.

• Provide tailored stewardship to donors in the portfolio, including special thanks, proposals, reports, and relevant materials.

• Design, write, and deliver persuasive, creative, and tailored funding applications that inspire investment in ShelterBox's work.

• Coordinate with programme, finance, communications, and impact colleagues to gather accurate project information, budgets, and stories that strengthen proposals.

• Support the Trusts and Foundations Manager and Senior Philanthropy Manager with high value proposals, helping to collate due diligence, assist with copywriting and proposal design.

• Assist the Trusts and Foundations Manager and Senior Philanthropy Manager with reporting to high value funders, supporting with research, copy and design.

• Contribute to the development of the trusts and foundations pipeline, researching and identifying new prospects and undertaking due diligence.

• Establish strong working relationships with colleagues across ShelterBox and within the global affiliate network to maximise opportunities and share learning.

• Represent ShelterBox at Philanthropy events, across the UK

• Uphold ShelterBox's values, safeguarding principles, and fundraising best practice in all interactions and written materials.

• Responsible for maintaining accurate records, tracking deadlines, and ensuring all funder communications and submissions are logged in line with internal processes.
• Any other duties as required which are deemed appropriate to the level and grade of the post.
