Are you passionate about supporting people to improve their language and communication skills? If you’re knowledgeable in the field of ESOL and able to facilitate engaging, in-person sessions for adult learners, we’d love to hear from you! 

Purpose of role 
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and creative tutor with excellent interpersonal, numeracy and digital skills; excellent written English and efficient organisational skills to teach one of our outreach classes in South Kensington, London every Saturday from 16:00-18:00.

Start – 07/06/2025 (negotiable)

End – 02/08/2025 (negotiable)

The course is aimed at learners designed for English speakers of other languages at Entry 3/ Level 1 who want to further develop their English language skills along with their employment skills. Learners can choose to specialise in retail, care or other vocational area. Learners will focus on the fundamentals required in a working environment, bolstering their confidence in writing and reading skills and communication abilities.

Skills/ experience

• CELTA or similar qualification is desirable
• Teaching experience is desirable

The aim is to support adult learners who need to improve their English language skills, working both individually and as part of the Adult Education team to plan and deliver an agreed number of ESOL courses.

Professionals Aid Guild (PAG) is seeking two new committee members to join a well-established charity on their Education Committee to assist in assessing applications and awarding grants. A background in welfare or education would be desirable.

The successful candidate will;

• Attend committee meetings either in person or electronically.
• Assist in assessing applications and advising on awards.
• Determining what awards should be made.
• Be aware of UK education system and use knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to group discussion.
• Ensure the budget for grant awards is used according to the charity rules and objectives.

We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with a background in Education or Welfare; however, a general interest in the relief of poverty is important. A successful applicant would be decisive, responsible, and passionate about delivering and developing the aims of the charity. Our committee members play a vital role in the work of the charity and the delivery of grants. The charity processes confidential information about our applicants and so an awareness of data protection regulation would be useful.

As a committee member on the Education Committee you will make a difference to professionals furthering their education throughout the UK.

Ms G was studying towards a PhD in Music, whilst working as a singing teacher and tutor to support her studies. She was awarded a grant towards her further education costs. Particularly at this time where work available to support students is more rare than it has ever been, I cannot tell you what a difference this has made to my ability to prepare thoroughly for this exam, and to say I am immensely grateful is an understatement. Please pass on my thanks to everyone involved in the decision-making process and let them know that their generosity will be acknowledged in the final thesis, and of course, when I am at a point in my career where I am able to contribute, I will most certainly do so".

Mr B was awarded an educational grant towards his PhD costs. He wrote to update us on his career progress. Mr B wrote "I am currently working as a research scientist. I am writing to express my deep gratitude for your generous support during my PhD studies. When I was writing my PhD thesis, I was going through an incredibly difficult financial crisis. Your timely help was the reason I could continue to focus on my writing, for which I will remain thankful to you, forever".
